Hi guys,

Bit of a strange request here, I'm interested in hearing bands that have their vocals effected with echo and/or reverb.

Lots of 80's bands had it (via budget or lack or experience reasons) and I assume some recordings the engineers had no idea how to handle abrasive vocals so they cloaked them in effects. All kinds of bands through metals various sub-genres utilise them, good or bad usage I enjoy it and would like to hear some more of it. Please recommend some tracks/bands.

An easy example would be the Aussie band Vomitor:

...or just because it was the 80's. Digital reverb units had become commercially available by the late 70's and everyone decided it was necessary to completely saturate everything in the mix with them to the point of revolting excess.

By the way, that's not mere dust floating in the light of the window, but granules of cocaine wafting off the elephant-sized load that everyone involved in the production of this song and its accompanying video were undoubtedly consuming.

Anyway, G.I.S.M. used a hefty amount of echo and reverb on the vocals in a few of their songs:

I'm pretty sure every industrial metal band ever has done it at some point.

Check out Godflesh, OP.

Mechina does this all the time. Dave's clean voice is overdubbed, making the choruses so much more ethereal and soaring.

This Enya-esque echo/reverb aspect is one of the major reasons why I love industrial metal.
