I am interested in groups who play agressive doom death metal with not to much keyboards but more accent of heavy riffs, and brutal growling.

So Far I discovered

Beyond Belief - older group from Holland
Asphyx
Obituary (more death metal)
Autopsy (more death metal)
Old My Dying Bride before "Turn loose the swans"
Ophis
My Shameful
Runemagick (some of it at least)
Mourning Beloweth
Indesinence - killer band from England with brutal death influences, but in the core doom-death.
Dusk - "mourning ressurect" USA group from 1990s
Winter
Sorrow "Hate and Disgust" - they more death metal though with slower sections...
There are semi melo death groups like Rapture, Daylight Dies. They are different animals.
Right now I am really into Ophis "Stream of Misery" 2007.
Anyone knows other similar releases from after 2006?

I find Excidium to be very interesting. Very haunting stuff, especially the orchestral bits in their demo album Defunto.

Acid Witch and Hooded Menace?

You may even like Decrepitaph's debut.

Cianide is required listening if you're looking for that slow, crushing death metal feel. It doesn't really matter which album you start with, although I think Descent into Hell is typically regarded as the heaviest.

You're looking for post-2006 albums only?

Try Imindain, their album could be qualified "melodic death/doom", but they don't use any keyboards to get this "melodic" sound. They also have an old school feel.

Grey "Sisters of the Wyrd"
Maimed "1991 Demo"
Loss "Life Without Hope...Death Without Reason"
Otesanek/Coffins split
Otesanek/Loss/Orthodox/Mournful Congregation "Four Burials"
Disembowelment "s/t" (comp/discography)

There've been a good three of four threads covering this topic the last few days, search them out for more goodness.

I'm always amazed and a little saddened how many posts it takes in these threads before someone mentions Cathedral. Forest of Equilibrium is such a classic in this genre - and the one album that really started the whole ball rolling. To forget about them is like talking about the US Revolution without mentioning George Washington.

The lack of Dream Death in this thread is disturbing me. Very good proto-death thrash/doom

Castle (Hol)
Winter
Visceral Evisceration
Thorr's Hammer
Symphony of Grief

You should try those as well. Ofcourse also hit up some bands that have been mentioned like diSEMBOWELMENT, Hooded Menace, and Acid Witch.

Settle down, son.

It always kills be when I see "I can't believe no mentions of _____ !!!11!!!!!" replies, especially when it's a band not relevant to the OP's query.

I LOVE "FoE", one of the best and most influential DOOM albums of all time...but it's not death doom, doesn't have "brutal growling" either - there's a reason why it wasn't mentioned.

Actually, it is widely considered the first death/doom album. Cathedral was vastly different from 1980's doom acts like Trouble, St. Vitus, and Candlemass. The growling is brutal (or more guttural and downtuned) compared to all doom albums before it (with the possible exception of Winter which came out around the same time), and it obviously has heavy riffing. It's not aggressive, but doom is not supposed to be. Also, if you bothered to look, the OP actually listed My Dying Bride - so how could he have missed Cathedral? It's also kind of odd to mention MDB but not Paradise Lost.

Ataraxie; if you like disEMBOWELMENT you'll like Ataraxie.
I will also second Visceral Evisceration. Their lyrics are a bit .....different from the music, but their worth it.
Novembers Doom might also be what you're looking for, but maybe only their first two albums.

Goatlord is an extremely heavy oldschool death/doom act from the united states. They've been around since 85'. Goatlord's first demo is the oldest death/doom recording I'm familiar with. I'd recommend getting ahold of Goatlord's first album in either it's US release (1992 Goatlord) or the original version (1991 Reflections of the Solstice). if you enjoy it, then you can find all of Goatlord's demo material on Distorted Birth: The Demos.

I second that Dream Death recommendation. Very good shit.

Thank you for a great band list
I have
Ataraxie
Eternal Darkness - Swedish band. Very good death doom with mystical melodies and low growling
Coffins
Mournful Congregation - they are bit too slow, funeral doom death
Perpetual Shadow from Poland
Disembolvement 1993
Stone Wings from Australia "Bird of Stone Wings"
Paradise Lost 1989 1990 1992
Swallow The Sun a bit too melo-death influenced though.

Maybe Bolt Thrower and Novembers Doom (not so much with The Pale Haunt Departure).

Sempiternal Deathreign - The Spooky Gloom

seminal doom/death album, released in 1989 - a year before Winter's Into Darkness... and it isn't straight-up Hellhammer worship, either.

Also make sure to check out Gorement's The Ending Quest

Ahh yes, fantastic release. Definite Hellhammer influence in there though.

Delirium (HOL) are amazing aswell. Very early death doom, but much more Hellhammer/Celtic Frost worship.

Ah Yes, Holland reminds me of band called Castle, their self titled full length is a great piece of death/doom.

Insanity Reigns Supreme - Prophecy of Doom. It's an excellent album all the way through, and it seems to fit your criteria. No keyboards, heavy riffs, brutal growling, and a gloomy atmosphere. Nice blend of death metal and doom.
