Hi, I'm looking for beautiful sorrowful metal (any genre) with lots of tremolo picked melodies.
Something like 3:06 in this song:

Ikuinen Kaamos are a Finnish black/death band with some astounding melodies, particularly during the black metal moments. Their song "Fall" sounds like what you're looking for.

Catamenia should fit the bill.

Also, don't hate me for this, but Abigail Williams does have lots of parts like that.

Drudkh - False Dawn

The first riff - does that come close? Can't really say the band sounds much like that.

Gorgoroth's early material also comes to mind. Pentagram has lots of melodic tremolo passages.

I was just thinking about that song. It literally transports me to snowy fields.
OP, you owe it to yourself to listen to that.

Two that immediately come to mind.

Wulgar - Cleansed by Fire - Epic and sorrowful riff

Windir - Martyrium

lots of tremolo picked melodies, and the songs could sound sorrowful or melancholic to some people:

Agalloch - I am the wooden doors: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1BBI072etY
Dark Tranquillity - Edenspring: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qm9UbKEN4vw
In Flames - Ordinary Story (only if you stand the vocals though) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJanOgc7qpc
Cradle of filth - The fire still burns http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LM6mGZtl3o

The songs "Dominions" and "Blutdivine" of Theatres des vampires.
Also, Amon Amarth has a lot of tremolo picked melodies, there has to be at least one melancholic song from the band.

In terms of specific songs, Ragnarok's "Journey From Life" from the album Blackdoor Miracle is a good, sad, tremolo-picked riff. Also, Dark Funeral's "Final Ritual" from Attera Totus Sanctus.

I seem to recall the song "Betrayed" by Antestor having a really good sorrowful riff. Don't entirely recall, though, as I don't have any of their material.

I also absolutely love this kind of stuff, that being brilliantly lush, dramatic, melodic tremelos. Personally, I think that black metal genre does it the best.

Definitely, definitely check out Sacrumentum's Far Away from the Sun. Tons of beautifully emotive, richly harmonious tremolo melodies on that one.

Abigor is also very good for that sort of thing as well, even though their guitar work is more aggressive. Check out Orkblut and they're debut.

For more sorrowfully inclined stuff (even though it's more melancholic than anything) check out Gontyna Kry's Welowie.

That intro reminds me of Destroyer 666's "I Am The Wargod" intro. Honestly, the first time I heard it I was floored and headbanging till kingdom come. The melody is just awesome.

This thread has too much black metal.

These examples have some beautiful tremolo riffs.

Vehemence - Fantasy From Pain
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDg94AdKHZo

Vehemence - God Was Created (Chorus, specifically)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDg94AdKHZo

Vehemence - Christ, I Fucking Hate You! (Tremolo Melody 1:20 in)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NED7bbJ4FyM

Vehemence - She Never Noticed Me (4:00 and so on doesn't have any tremolo riffs, but 4:00 and so on contains the most beautiful section I've ever heard in metal)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NNCoif_6FQ

Yeah, Vehemence is all I got. :|

Even though its not nearly the same type of metal, some of Belphegor's songs have amazing tremelo riffs, some i would describe as beautiful. I did enjoy that riff at 3:06 a lot haha.

Check out the song Belphegor - Swarm of Rats, the riff at exactly 4:00 mins im sure you would love. Its one of my fav riffs ever in metal. Do check it out and let me know what ya think.

Cunoaşterea Tăcută by Negură Bunget, great song, and it gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it.

Absolutely. The tremelos in that are some of the best I've heard, not to mention the amazing vocal melody the riffs tag along with. Here's the song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmYLjQhQL3g

2:31-3:01 is where they first come in, but their greatest show (and the finale of the song) is from 6:05 to 7:05.

These deserve a mention seeing as how they were pioneers of the melodic tremelo picking that defined the gothenburg sound.

The intro to "Baptized in Flames" by Skeletonwitch is beautiful, you should definitely check it out.

Between the Buried and Me - Selkies: The Endless Obession
The last few minutes of this song are probably very close to what you're looking for, judging from the song you linked to. Really beautiful sweeping stuff that makes you feel like you're soaring on a cloud.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I knew about a lot of these already, but I'll be sure to check out the ones I don't. And the guy above me, are you a troll? First of all, that's not tremolo picking. Second, BTBAM is not even a metal band...

To everyone else, thanks again for all the suggestions!

Windir - Journey To The End gets my vote for this one! Awesome melodies, some of the best in the genre imo.
