Looking for Symphonic Metal, bands that use non traditional metal instruments/orchestra etc. . Looking for either symphonic black or death metal, but will take any suggestions. I like Rhapsody/Rhapsody Of Fire a lot but looking for new bands. Thank You

Haggard is the greatest band to ever grace the symphonic metal scene. In fact, it's really the only death metal I truly enjoy. The orchestration is absolutely insane.

Tvangeste - Firestorm
It is one of the few black metal bands with a real orchestra and choir.
They are good, though the vocals of the singer are imho anoying.

Carach Angren - Lammendam
They are quite unknown, but very skilled. Sounds in my opinion a bit like Dimmu Borgir, just better.
This album is well produced, thus does not sound like cheesy synthiework like many black metal bands.

If you like Rhapsody, you could enjoy Nazgul. Happy orchestral melodies mixed with fast black metal passages and some weird shrieking about orcs slaughtering elves.
Kinda stupid, but extremly fun and catchy.

Dimmu Borgir - Enthrone Darkess Triumphant
I never really liked this guys, but I guess this album has to be mentioned at least. Best known symphonic black metal.

Have you tried any Therion? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6h84W8qz0I

There's also Dark Lunacy, they play (some think its melodic) death metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hJQXWEhbDI

Septicflesh - Communion

very well crafted symphonic death metal.

My project incorporates symphonic elements. Prometheus in the signature link is the best example off of my previous CD. When my debut is released, it'll have a LOT of stuff you'll hopefully enjoy.

Septic Flesh's CD "Sumerian Demons" does a lot of good symphony, and Darkane has a CD with some good symphonic parts as well.
