Just a small section, but it's just so awesome: Psycroptic-The Colour of Sleep
"...we are all brothers in metal and we already own the world now..."
It's near the end of the song. Makes me feel so proud.

No one's mentioned Metallica's Metal Militia? Shame on you all.

"OH! Through the mist and the madness
We're trying to get the message to you
METAL MILITIA!"

In fact, a lot of songs on Kill 'Em All - Whiplash, Phantom Lord, Hit The Lights - could qualify for this thread, no matter what the band went on to do.

Glamtera's "Heavy Metal Rules", lol.

And Possessed's "Death Metal" talks about doing evil shit; you could think of the chorus ("DEEEEAAATH... METAAAAAALLL") as "praising" the name of death metal for helping do it or something.

Also from the Dream Evil catalogue is Made of Metal which was the first "glorify metal" song I heard.

"I am so fucking metal
so is my wife
I am his wife
Group Shout: SHUT UP"

---

Strapping Young Lad's Far Beyond Metal also serves to amuse:

"Now that the music industry's ill
And we're the fucking antidote
One line and you're outta control
Yeah, you fucking suck!
(...)

Oh, you ironic pop-rock fuck
Don't you fuck with METAL
One line and you're outta control
Yeah, we fucking OWN YOU!"

I'm going to firstly say Flaming Metal Systems by Manilla Fucking Road. Now, let me be clear. I don't actually understand all the words to this song, and the lyrics aren't posted here. I've found them elsewhere but some of it seems wrong to me. I have no idea what Shelton's motivation behind this song was, but all I can think about when I hear him say stuff like "Oh, I know, just how you feel" and the bit about "Up the hammers" is pure unadulterated love and appreciation for heavy metal. That's it, that's all.

The second anthem is a little more straight forward, but never fails to inflate me with a false since of superiority. "Prisoner of Our Time" simply sounds like a call to arms, in my opinion, for metalheads to stand up and be fucking counted.

Rockers of the underground
Black and heavy is our sound

I just don't like metal worshipping songs. I am a total metalhead but it just seems childish and stupid to me. It just seems like these people are just stuck in 12 year old land. I mean, if they take it seriously that is. I just can't listen to this kind of stuff without feeling like my IQ is dropping. Regardless, there are a few songs that are kind of funnily fun to listen to. Like Heavy Metal Universe, Metal Warriors, Ram It Down, and some of Exodus' stuff.

well anything by Manowar about metal is good..........I also like Turasis's song Battle Metal. I proudly listen to such songs because my obsession with metal does not embarrass me in the least.

First of all, congratulations on realising the enter key can be used to add blank lines in for no reason.

Secondly, are you aware that we're discussing songs which glorify metal as a genre of music, not metal as in a material or substance? Perhaps you should examine the meaning of the lyrics.

most MANOWAR, plus pretty much all 80s bands have at least one track on every album. i call them "Pro-Metal" tracks. Savatage does some good ones; most notably: 'Warriors' and 'Fight for the Rock'. its almost obligatory to have a track that is just out and out "Metal and Fucken Proud of it!" in Heavy Metal at least. 3 Inches of Blood has a few good 'uns.

forgot to mention sabaton as well, for a newer band: 'Metal Machine!' Priest and Halfords have to be perhaps the most notable along with MANOWAR

Kai Hansen did it again in Gamma Ray : Heavy Metal Universe
Quote:
In your sky there is no limit
and masters we have none
heavy metal is the only one
.
This song is sick live when the band plays along with the crowd

Alestorm always brings the funny, this time with Heavy Metal Pirates ... "No quarter for the poseurs".

Sabaton : The Metal Machine. Not a tribute to metal per se, but finding all the references to songs and bands is a fun game.

Most of the big names have been covered, but a few other songs that deserve a mention on this subject are Metalwrath by Amon Amarth, Poserslaughter by Avenger of Blood, Heavy Metal in the Night by Dream Evil (most awesome opening riff), Defender of Metal by Hellish War, Chains and Leather by Running Wild, pretty much everything off of Stormwarrior's s/t, and Heavy Metal Axe by Battlerage, to name a few.

Dio also has quite a few good metal anthems as well, though he often uses the word "rock" instead of "metal".

Lordi certainly has always had the "Metal Self-Awareness" thing going for them, always praising the bands of old and those to come. Tenacious D could qualify for that as well, but thats only if you consider Tenacious D a real metal band.

Sacred Steel's Slaughter Prophecy has one of the best ''Metal Anthems'' of all:

''Crush The Holy, Save The Damned'' is without a doubt something you need to check out - it's a fucking magnificent assault of metal worship...here are some lyrics:

No second coming
No king of kings
I fuckin' don't believe in salvation or sin
See I am metal
Metal is me
All that I believe in is metal and steel

Seriously, dude...that song kills all!

Saxons 'Heavy Metal Thunder' is a classic.

theres an absolute shitload of thrash anthems in this vein too. still, i have to say that Priest probably has the best catalogue of 'em. Halford nails that shit every time.

Sabaton's Metal Crue, I'd say, hinting at several more-or-less known metal bands.

Also, is it just me, or does several Hammerfall songs seem to be about metal? Even the ones about "templars" that all sing about bravery, pride, stand-for-who-you-are etc, etc...

Definitely worth a look in, IMO these guys got better with age. In all fairness they don't have a bad album.

I haven't noticed anyone mentioning this one yet:

METAL CHURCH - METAL CHURCH

"Many, many years ago on a distant shore
Men did gather secretly beyond a hidden door
They travelled long and travelled far
Dark into the night
Yes, this is the place they've chosen
To build the Metal site.

Congregation rises, starts to chant a hymn
Of evil, lust and hatred, the roots of every sin
The priest he stands before them, tells them why they are this way
Why they worship metal gods each and every day
By the hand of Oberon, dark into the deep
Love the evil things we do, the secrets that we keep

Metal church, unholy, who'll be the sacrifice
Metal church, the only, don't you know the time is right
Metal church will find you, can't run very far
The metal church inside you,
It knows just who you are, knows just who you are.

No use in speaking out against anything we do
While the men of earth they sleep, haven't any clue
Now the story starts again, all the time is lost
Metal Church begins anew....
Saving souls that are lost.

Metal church, unholy, who'll be the sacrifice
Metal church, the only, don't you know the time is right
Metal church will find you, can't run very far
The metal church inside you,
It knows just who you are, knows just who you are.

The metal church"

I personally find it to be an awesome song.

Heh, I can't believe no one has mentioned 3 Inches of Blood

3 Inches of Blood - Deadly Sinners

"Flash of iron, leather, spikes, and swords
Mighty warriors with metal on their side
Enemies of metal, your death is our reward
Triumphant victory when you bring the steel to life"

I know the Book of Heavy metal has been mentioned like 9 times, but no one has mentioned the first five seconds of the album. For some reason they cut it off the video clip, it's the single best intro to any album in existence.
