Really ended up digging Faith Addiction more than I though I would. For those that don't know, members of Cellgraft playing some heavy hardcore/whatever

Been listening to Discordance Axis' 'The Inalienable Dreamless' lately. Some fantastic stuff.

Interesting...

Any recs for some grind that's pretty much Merciless' "Dreadful Fate" with blasts? Closest thing I've heard is P.L.F.'s song "Seize Your Fate".

Population Reduction? I dunno, but there should be more thrashing (the metal kind) grind in existence.

A lot of the razorback guys play grindy thrash, if you can look past the unrepenting... razorback-ness of them.

Yes x1000

And cosigned that there should be more "thrashing" grind, wish I had something to rec there Dragunov...

edit: and as far as Razorback goes... maybe give Blood Freak's "Live Fast, Die Young, and Leave a Flesh Eating Corpse" a try? Or maybe even the album after that "Multiplex Massacre"

In fact MM might be the better album to try as the thrashing is more defined but "Live Fast.." is definitely worth looking into. I would say the vast majority of Razorback's stuff falls pretty firmly into death metal as opposed to grind but there's some gems in their discography without a doubt.

You should also check out Splatterhouse "The House that Dead Built" if you're not familiar, Drag. Not because it necessarily fits your request but because it's a ripper of a record and one of the best RR ever released.

Dahmer = win

Definitely going to look into that Blood Freak stuff. And I definitely know of that Splatterhouse record, one of my all-time favorites! Interesting to see some recs for Razorback bands. In the past, the only stuff I cared for from that label was the few things of Funerot's that they put out, and the aforementioned Splatterhouse record.

I'm honestly surprised at the lack of (quality) thrashing grind, considering Repulsion's influence on the upbringing of the genre. There's probably a treasure trove of good shit out there, I just don't know where to find it.

I still dig on quite a few of the "staple" records RR put out. You should actually look into both Frightmare records if you're not familiar with those but their debut "Midnight Murder Mania" in particular, in regards to your request... but both are some of my favorite "death metal" albums ever... and death metal is in quotes because there is a ton of other influences including grind, thrash, and smatterings of punk. They do a ripper cover of Laaz Rockit's "Leatherface" on Bringing Back the Bloodshed.

You probably already know Birdflesh but they do a fair amount of thrashing in their grind... if you can get over the goofy aesthetics (i can). You might also dig Gruesome Stuff Relish, Engorged, and Catasexual Urge Motivation. There's a fair amount of death metal in anything Razorback put out but some of that might work for what you're looking for... or at least be some new jams that you weren't looking for haha.

Oooh, Frightmare is a band that I've seen mentioned a bunch but never jumped to check them out. I'll have to finally look them up. As for the other bands, I like Birdflesh well enough, but haven't listened to them in a long time. GSR and Engorged I've never listened to. And Catasexual Urge Motivation is awesome, really got into them after reading Noktorn's review for their album.

Guess I should've given Razorback more of a chance!

GSR did a rager of a split with Splatterhouse actually!! Last thing Splatterhouse did if I remember correctly.

They do... it's pretty ridiculous actually... criminally unknown band for how good they were. Easily my favorite Carcass/Exhumed worship type band and honestly probably the best.

Speaking of...Drag, you should also check out Impaled if you're not familiar with them. I'd rec "The Dead Shall Dead Remain" and "Mondo Medicale"

The song "Raise the Stakes" is one of my personal favorites off the latter

The only Razorback stuff I really dig is the first Acid Witch and Decrepitaph, neither of which really have the typical "Razorback sound."

Midnight Murder Mania is the best thing that label's ever had a hand (or 6) in.

excuse the awful rip, but Frightmare's first is one of my favorite records.

Can anyone recommend some good grindcore/goregrind with clean, modern production and precise playing - preferably bands that have really short songs. As in under a minute. No singers that sound like they're in a garage please. Thanks!

Gonna need to be a little more specific there, bud.. assuming you don't know the basics, check out the latest (for the most part) from Magrudergrind, Rotten Sound, Sayyadina, Afgrund, Phobia, Nasum (Inhale/Exhale), Gridlink.. etc etc. If you're looking for goregrind in particular can't go wrong with Jig-Ai's s/t.

I'm completely new to grind, and I enjoy the idea of it, I just don't like the way many bands do it. I love short songs and quick ideas, but I'm a stickler for clean, modern production, and a lot of grind is very raw. Thanks for the recs, I'll check them out right now!

Jig-Ai has a good sound, I like 'em. That's almost exactly what I'm looking for. Are there any bands out there that sound similar to them, nice and clear, good production, etc, with vocals a bit more like death growls?

Thanks again for the Jig-Ai rec, just picked up one of their albums from amazon and I'm loving it.

Well, the sewer-pipe vocals are a pretty defining part of goregrind.. anyway, check out Go-Zen, who are a fairly blatant Jig-Ai clone, then maybe Regurgitate & Squash Bowels, and after that bands like General Surgery or Haemmorhage, though they both have slightly longer songs. The probably isn't really finding bands like Jig-Ai, but finding goregrind bands with equally good production.

I believe the mp3s I initially downloaded before I bought the album were at 320. I'll check when I get home tonight and I'll hit you up if the quality is good. If not, I can try to rip my CD copy with better quality. There's actually a CD comp floating around somewhere with both From Without and Insignificance on it, if nothing else works out that'd be something to look into.

So I listened to that +HIRS+ band and I really dig it. They are doing a split with Water Torture soon so I guess if anyone knows any sick grindcore with drum machines that sound good and are really heavy please reccomend them.

drum machines are for poseurs.

But if that's your thing, Enemy Soil's mandatory, as are Agorphobic Nosebleed if you don't know those two bands.

Well I didn't ask for your opinion on drum machines and I'd be stupid not to know ANb but I'll check out Enemy Soil.

Sorry, just joking. I'd never use the word poseur seriously. I'm a drummer, so drum machines are a particular annoyance to me.

But yeah, Enemy Soil's awesome, despite the drum machine and main man Richard Johnson's quite a figure in grindcore (helping hand in AnB and his newer great band Drugs of Faith). Also, check out gore/porno grind bands as it seems to be the norm to use a drum machine.

I actually really hate drum machines. There are very few bands that I can enjoy that use them. one besides the 2 you meantioned... is goddamn Mortician. For some reason I just fucking love the pure primal retardation of that band.

Wadge = essential drum machine grind

And yeah, Mortician are fucking hilariously retardedly heavy. Probably one of my favorite bands.

I'm looking for more Swe-Death/Autopsy influenced goregrind, I'm not well versed in this area and it's hard to look for this kind of stuff these days without running into an embarrassingly high amount of worse-is-better-Agathocles-clone-bedroom-grind garbage. If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great .

Thank you. :)

*I originally started at topic about this, but figured it would go better in this thread.

Spain's Haemorrhage. One of the only "goregrinds" I can stomach (GET IT!? HURDURRUDHRU)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_U2_ts8Zgs

In fact Spain's fucking boss. Check out Machetazo and Looking For An Answer. Not particularly goregrind...but there's death metal influence aplenty.

teaser from new album... feels like they're turning into a death metal band

How do you guys like the new Cloud Rat?

I really dig it, the mixture of styles and combo of melody admist the blasting really gets my boat rowin'.

Here's my review. It's kinda shitty, but I knew if I put it off any longer I wouldn't write a thing.
