I just got my copy of the new Self Deconstruction album Wounds. And it's a beast!!!
16 min 23 songs of Extremely fast and chaotic music. Quiet clean production. Switching riffs so fast that you really have to pay attention or you'll miss it.
For anyone who likes Discordance Axis.

Cognizant - S/T (2016)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdsmQ0Bjzmo

Can anybody recommend something like this, preferably without the death metal?

This might be super obvious, but it sounds like you might be into some Discordance Axis style grind? (This is actually my first time listening to Cognizant, so thanks for bringing them up!)

Discordance Axis
Agents of Abhorrence
Asterisk*
Syntax
Morphic Lapse
Noisear
Human Remains (some death metal to it)

What this guy said!
Check Noisear last album it's my favorie grind album of 2016. They share the drummer with Cognizant and without the death metal.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGbrWjxpmcs

I assume you know Amygdala which also had Bryan Fajardo drums
https://imperialmindengineering.bandcam ... m/epiphany

Jesusegg had amazing album two years ago. They should have one this year.
https://seeingredrecords.bandcamp.com/album/jesusegg

Defeatist were great!!
https://defeatist.bandcamp.com/album/tyranny-of-decay

You might also like Daggra last year album.
https://daggra.bandcamp.com/album/nil

Mortalized!!!
https://blastasfuk.bandcamp.com/album/c ... -mortality

I would also list Self Deconstruction which i wrote about in this thread.

Man I've heard the singles so many times, very promising. Pure unadulterated murder fuel. Waiting impatiently for this one.

Also, Trevor sounds fucking feral in that track.

Dead Issue are working on a full length, hopefully it will see a release soon.
More of this: https://youtu.be/7gGCgwhDmvA?t=113 on a 12", yes please!

And to those who missed the Bloody Phoenix, Lycanthrophy, Skunk & Disturbance Project 12" split should probably get that one.
The best grind release of 2016.

NP: Stench of Corpse - Killer Stench from Outer Space 7"

Just grabbed a digital copy of that split after listening to that link. That's some good shit and I will certainly be checking out a 12" put out by a band that sounds like that.

Edit: Also, I've been away for a while. Why is this thread not stickied when the Punk/Hardcore/Crust/Post-Hardcore help thread is? Seems like both threads should get the same treatment, if you ask me. Either sticky both or don't sticky either.

I like it no other way. (But come on, not really that raw.)

@OlioTheSmall
Be sure not to miss Dead Issues 7" EP called "Driving Way To Hell And Back"
Real ripper from start to finish. D.I. also did some other splits with Raw Noise Apes and a band called Fiend.

So before i'm leaving for work, i want to recommend these two hidden gems from Germany.(Same members in both bands, at least the same drummer and vocalist)

Noiseslaughter - Greed (1996)
https://youtu.be/q2VVV0WzCMQ?t=294 (second song, first one is a intro)

Basalt - Self Titled LP (2000)
https://youtu.be/WXvJ0qOMZ18?t=682 (song #6)

Big thanks to Jaggy (the drummer) for putting these online.
Play loud!

NP: Warsore - Open Wound (Demo)

Been digging Deterioration recently. The discography tape is worth picking up, even has an Insect Warfare cover buried in there.

Edit: Also second Dead Issue, especially the split with Fiend.

I know most people aren't keen on digital downloads, but if you don't have an LP player (like me) but want to throw the bands some money for their tunes, I messaged the guy from PSYCHOCONTROL records and said he'd be putting more Dead Issue stuff on their bandcamp. Dunno when though.

Exogorth side from their split with Bangsat

Selling Cyanide to Raver Scum! :headbang:

Do not miss Bangsat, Indonesian grind. But Exogorth (Seattle., US) wins this split no doubts.

@IamDBR & OlioTheSmall
Thank you. Someone has to keep tabs on the non-fancy bands. :-P

You should have put this text here to sell this band: this album is dedicated to all the underground bands in the southern california grindcore scene who are forgotten or slandered when big media bullshit machines rule an entire scene.we perfer our grindcore guerilla anyway.

Hell yeah!

I was gonna do a list of obscure japanese grindcore, or just jap grind in general. But these two bands will do for now.

Red - Golden Oath of Allegiance discogs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtcjCBZHICc
These guys only released this EP and a Demo, vanished after those. If i'm gonna compare them to another grind band: Insect Warfare maybe.
This EP is not to be missed, shows that totally unknown bands can destroy things as much (maybe even better) than all the famous ones.

Egofix - Eternal Karma discogs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3qgf_eek9g
Only released this EP as a tape (few more songs) and as a 7", also did a split with Japanese Hardcore band Plutonium.
I heard these guys the first time on the ever infamous compilation tape "Grind the Faces of Rockstars Vol.2"

I will continue with the Japanese stuff when i have some more free time.
Just like hardcore, the japanese know their shit. Play extremely loud!

Love it! But i hate the fact they only release their shit on CD. :annoyed:
Raw grind do not belong on CD, i mean come on, we are not talking about popbands here.
I have not really listened to the second album, but the first one is a real ripper!
Also this text in the booklet (first album): As Unholy Grave say: PLAY IT LOUD! :headbang:
What's not to like?
Hopefully they will reissue both of them on vinyl.

Np: Unholy Grave - Cryptic Dirty Conformity (AKA Singapore Raw Session)
The raw part is underlined for a reason, this thing is very raw sounding. If you think N.Ds Scum is too raw, you should probably stay away from this. Jali who used to drum in Demisor (Singapore grind veterans since the late 80's) drums on this too, which makes this release even more awesome. Raw, very punk grinding madness with the craziest vocals in grindcore.
Only on CD! :grr:

And not enough people bother with Demisor, but they have no idea what they are missing out on.
This split CD ( :fuck: ) with Carcass Grinder (japanese) is a damn good one from start to finish. (Not as raw, for those who are sensitive to that.)
At least this CD came in a 7" sleeve. :-D

And clearly not all CDs suck. Discography CDs are pretty cool too i guess. But way cooler on vinyl!
I will list more Japanese grind later. But Zagio Evha Dilegj is a band worth tracking down https://www.discogs.com/artist/1585554-Zagio-Evha-Dilegj
Kinda Mortalized sounding in a way but less technical. The Emotional Outburst album is a real gem. (Blurred Records, the label who released this in Japan, released tons of quality grind and fast hardcore. A catalog worth checking out.)

And remember...

Following up on this, the RNA split is now up:

And I'm informed the EP will be up soon! I know you grinders like your vinyl, but without a record player this kinda stuff is big for me.

Hey Grinders. It's been a while since I've asked this question, so I thought I'd give you another try. I'm looking for old-school grindcore, gore-grind or death-grind with a sound like Cadaver's "Hallucinating Anxiety" and Exulceration's "Infernal Disgust" -- raw and primitive, but with a guitar sound that you can actually hear despite the chaos in the background. Vocal style isn't too important, though bonus points for higher rasps like Cadaver.

I've asked this several times before in both the Death Metal and Grindcore threads, so I've had all the usual suspects (Carcass, Xysma, Pungent Stench etc.). Give me something nice and obscure.

All different deathgrind i guess, the later Ulcerous Phlegm stuff sound pretty much like Carnage (The early is typical noisy grindcore)
Groinchurn are kinda thrashy, Malicious Hate is faaaaaaaaast and furious and Repugnance is the gory one.
Brutal Insanity is the result of OSDM riffing to grindcore beats (d-beats/blasts)
Necrobiosis if you are looking for more Carcass/Xysma sounding stuff.

Cheers TT, there was some good stuff in that bunch. Ulcerous Phlegm have some of that messy but audible rawness I'm after, and the Groinchurn have that off-kilter-but-catchy thrashiness that Cadaver had, although possibly a bit too clean and polished. The others didn't really grab me as much, but whilst exploring Necrobiosis I came across another DM band of the same name from Poland who took my fancy, so a worthwhile exercise.

I guess I favour the more DM side of things, I find a lot of grind too chaotic and inaudible, but I do find the odd gem that floats my boat.

If you think of any more, let me know! Thanks again.

Did anyone here catch the "grindcore essential albums debate" on Banger?

Any thoughts?
