A beast on the door from USA, blast charged sons of a bitch filled with napalm bomb! Full lenght "Heartache" out december 23.

WVRM has crawled out of Greenville South Carolina and is PISSED. The band meshes perfectly together a precise grindcore sound with a darkened hardcore edge to it. Six lightning quick blasts on the first side and two angry evil longer tracks on the reverse. Sardonic, brooding, and generally misanthropic, Heartache will make your heart actually hurt a bit after listening to it for better or for worse. I highly suggest this record for when your hatred for humanity has reached a high threshold and you need something to release that feeling.

Hey guys.

I'm looking for some suggestions on bands of certain particular styles of grindcore mixed with other styles.

What I'm really looking for are those bands that mix a lot of styles in with grind but in particular blackened grindcore (bands that mix black metal with grindcore) and also cybergrind and to a slightly lesser extent industrial grindcore or porno grind if there's drum machines and drum triggers like Tampax Vortex and Libido Airbag.

I mean I just really dig bands that are able to mix everything up in their grindcore. Everthing from black metal to death metal to crust punk to sludge to industrial and power violence and a lot of the shit which mixes black-thrash with blackened crust and goes the old Dark Throne--Venom/Motorhead/Discharge worship.

But most of all it's the black metal/grindcore mix.

Here are the kinds of bands I love in these styles:

Blackened grindcore: Dragged Into Sunlight, Anaal Nathrkah, Mistress, Fukpig, Dephosphorus, Absvrdist, Male Misandria, malevaillence, Sloth Herder,

To a lesser extent blackened crust and black thrash influenced evil rock and roll but not any of the generic stuff, those leading more towards grind: Dishammer, Disfear, newer Darkthrone, Midnight, Shitfucker, Necrofilth, newer Nunslaughter, Witch in Her Tomb, Raw Moon, Deadly Noise Crew.

Cybergrind/Industrial grind/porno-cyber grind: The Berzerker, The Amenta, Tampax Vortex, Libido Airbag, Cock and Ball Torture.

Also, powerviolence like Column of Heaven and The Endless Blockade.

My dream band right now would be some kind of mixture of Early Bathory, early mayhem, Venom type black metal with Carcass and Entombed style death, Terrorizer/Assuck style grindcore, Disrupt style crust + Eyehate God style sludge and a nice "Land of Rape and Honey" era Industrial influence.

Heavy, fast, evil, but with grindcore probably being the strongest element, with black metal close behind.

Also, I've REALLY been liking some eclectic bands like Barring Teeth and Whourkr, and any band that sounds like those I would also love.

I think I gave you enough to work with there haha.

Hell yeah that's exactly the kind of shit I'm talking about.

More stuff like that please.

Or any variations of the kind of genres I was talking about before.

I don't see the point of writing a huge list. With no connection to what the guy asked for. Maybe what he asked for was a bit complex. But still half of the bands you wrote don't have any girndcore in them, the other half don't have any BM. Most of them really well known and doesn't fit the discription at all. It's just a random list that could fit just as well in any HC/Metal question....

Apart from maybe a couple every band here has a shit-ton of grind-like blastbeats, most of these have a very dark aesthetic even if they are not directly related to black metal.
If he/she (?) finds even one band worth a damn in the post, my job is done if not well tough luck. I don't see much of a problem here.

Also, I really like sharing bands that I enjoy so sometimes I go a bit overboard. :-D

Well I haven't listened to enough of them so far to see how many come close to what I was looking for but the guy tried so it's no big deal.

Yeah, it's true that what I'm asking for is a bit complex, so to make it a bit simpler I'm most of all looking for mixtures between black metal and grindcore.

However, the more styles mixed in the better, and I really like it when there's also some elements of death, sludge, crust punk, and to a lesser extent industrial, noise or power-violence.

The best band I can think of that mixes so many styles is really Dragged Into Sunlight, but there's quite a few others like Anaal Nathrak, Fukpig, Knelt Rote, Dephosphorus etc.

I also have really been digging cybergrind/industrial grind lately like The Berzerker, or even with goregrind in there like Tampax Vortex, Libido Airbag and Cock and Ball Torture.

When a band is at that point where you listen to them and can't even really nail down what style it is you are listening to at all, then that's the best, but I need there to be grindcore in there no matter what, and usually black metal also.

The problem is that you put a huge list of non relevant bands.
Yes he can like one of the bands list but what is the point of him asking when he can just check a random top 10 in google.

Yeah, Knelt Rote are one of my all time favorite bands.

They are almost a "war-metal" band of kinds, and I also absolutely love that kind of shit, everything from the amazing and obsucre Warhate, to Archgoat, Axis of Advance, Revenge, Conqueror, Proclammation, going all the way back to Order From Chaos and Blashphemy.

Shit that's influenced by that style is also great...I'm all across the board these days.

What I have noticed is that the Portland, Oregon scene is just AMAZING, and that's the scene Knelt Rote, Weregoat and many other bands I like are coming out of, so if it is part of that scene I'll probably like it.

And yes, I like Leper as well.

Any more suggestions of mixes between grind and black in particular though would be great.

Black Hole of Calcutta are great Disrupt worship band with a bit more metallic sound.
For some reason they are listed as blackend i don't see it but maybe i'm missing it and they are great.
the art work is BMish though...

You should try finding a copy of this: https://www.discogs.com/Forgar%C3%B0ur-Helv%C3%ADtis-Gerningave%C3%B0ur/master/469279
Credited as the first grindcore band from Iceland. The Black influence was there in the beginning i guess, but went more and more with the black thing.
That album above is their last one, and it is a full blown black metal/grind album, think a much grindier version of old Impaled Nazarene.
The last untitled song on that album is beyond crazy! Best song on the album. (not shown on discogs) :-D

SICK suggestion man!!

I didn't even want to ruin the surprise by listening to them ahead of time, I just straight up ordered a CD of that last album from the UK.

It included an extra Dark Throne cover that the other copy they offered didn't.

Which unreleased song were you talking about that's not on the album??

Is it on youtube?

If so I'll just rip it off there.

I wanted to get their first album demo but they didn't have it, though they have the second on cassette but I'm not too into cassettes, but i bet I'll eventually order it anyway if i can't find it elsewhere.

You've got me on multiple areas of interest there, both the black/grind mix, the rarity of it in general, and the Icelandic thing.

I have a serious interest in bands from Iceland as there seem to be so few.

You might not have heard of Flames of Hell, but they are the first black metal band from Iceland who released one VERY rare album in 1984 and it's EXCELLENT!!

I picked that up about a year ago which was a great addition to my collection though I SERIOUSLY doubt it's a 1st pressing but I'd LOVE to get it on vinyl.

Then I recently heard about Christblood who are a very rare black metal band from Iceland who released an album in 1991 and I just downloaded it but it's fucking TERRIBLE LOL, but interesting nevertheless to know about and just for collector's sake it would be cool to get an actual copy of.

Even before either of them though was the mighty and obscure ICECROSS who were a real early downer-rock/doom rock band who released a VERY rare album in 1973, VERY cool and black sabbath sounding, really a legit early metal band IMO and I think they should be included on this site IMO as they are as heavy as early sabbath.

I have a copy of that album too, though not a first pressing, but originals are worth close to $1,000!!

I know of no other icelandic bands.

Do you know of any other good icelandic bands, preferably in the black, death, grind or doom categories??

Though they aren't grindcore, I just wanted to link you to Icecross cause they go with the Icelandic theme.

I am almost sure that Flames of Hell were influenced by them because I can hear strong similatiries in the vocals and being such a small country I am sure they heard of them.

As you can see, one copy of their album on vinyl is going for $810!!!!

Another for $638!!!

Those are OBVIOUSLY original pressings which I'd LOVE to have, though I have a newer copy on CD which is still great to own.

Check out the songs "Scared" and "Nightmare" and tell me they aren't just as metal as any early sabbath album!!!

One of the copy descriptions says it comes with new liner notes and photos and shit of the band which I wish I had with my copy and I'm going to see if I can find that stuff online.

It actually says that in 1973 they were influenced by Sabbath.

I'll copy and paste that info for you.

If you like early Doom/stoner rock from the Seventies you NEED to own this!!!

"40th anniversary first official reissue of 1973 Icelandic hard rock underground monster that's been the target of collectors for at least two decades! Carefully remastered for pristine sound that lays waste to all the bootlegs that have come before. 12-page booklet with liner notes, clippings and photographs. After several years of hounding band members we are very happy to finally be able to bring you the first official reissue of this legendary gem.

Icecross possess a unique dark sound which reveals influences ranging from Sabbath to Crimson and beyond all melded together in such a way to form their distinct Icecross style. Considered proto-metal by many, though they don’t achieve this with a typical smash your face approach. Instead, Icecross unleash some killer inventive guitar sounds by way of Leslie speakers combined with ominous effected bass lines and splendid use of bow creating a perfect dark heavy guitar album that really creeps up on you. One of the few, if not the only, Icelandic band inspired by Sabbath at that time.

For fans of Leaf Hound, Blue Cheer, Elias Hulk, Iron Claw, Jerusalem, Necronomicon, Hairy Chapter, Incredible Hog, Dust, Pentagram and the like.

All tracks are self-composed and sung in English."

Iceland has been killing it lately. The black metal coming out of there is something else. It's dissonant, dense & experimental, sometimes pretty technical for black metal as well. Killer stuff all around.

It's the 24th song on the album. the one after the Darkthrone cover. (it's not listed on either release on discogs.)
If you bought the 2007 reissue of it, i think it should be on that one? Could be on the first release too (the CDr, unless there is a third release of this album).
A friend ripped that album for me, i will ask him (i do not own it myself, cuz i dont really bother with CDs).
Here it is: https://youtu.be/ecRLF9V2VCs?t=2087

Do you know of any other good icelandic bands, preferably in the black, death, grind or doom categories??

No, not really, i do not really like black, death, doom to begin with (few exceptions). I might have some Icelandic hardcore/punk releases and some folk music, but that's it. :-P
The only reason i know about Forgarður Helvítis is their split with Excreted Alive (gnarly spanish grind).

I will check out those bands you mentioned.
Will try to find those Icelandic HC/punks bands (i'm sure i have some).
Here is some Icelandic folk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYbE2coMZPc
A vocal version of that album also exists.

And not to derail this thread about grindcore with a bunch of lame black metal bands and beautiful folk music, here is some Wadge
Surf, cheesy drum-machine grindcore and hawaiian death cults! :-D

Wadge seem to have a new album out too, it's on Bandcamp.

Very good and raw grind ep, but there is one very annoying thing. In some parts there are very annoying sound, maybe it's guitar or some of them are actually trying to sing or both, lol.

The best band on the planet! Makes every other grindcore band sound like Nasum or any other weak numetalish "grind" band.

Finally got around to buying the second Napalm Death album, from Enslavement to Obliteration (the album not the demo).

That, their debut and Fear, Emptiness...are the only 3 of theirs I have, and I definitely prefer this to their debut and possibly also Fear, Emptiness.

You can hear how much more metal was in their sound on the 2nd one whereas the 1st really sounded more like punk with growling and slightly heavier vocals, but at the same time it's closer to pure grind with less Death Metal than Fear, Emptiness...

Couple questions:

1) I noticed that my copy of the album also includes the tracks off "Curse" single from 1988, but it has an extra tracks called "Internal Animosity" that doesn't seem to be on any of their other releases.

Does anyone know what release that was originally off of?

2) Has ANYONE EVER been able to locate or even download their first demos when they were a punk band, from 82--86 off their Halloween, Kak, Hatred Surge, Unpopular Yawns of Middle Class Warfare, Hatred Surge and From Enslavement to Obliteration demos??

I also think it's odd that my copy of the F.E.T.O. album DOESN'T include every track off the Demo of the same name and neither does my copy of Scum.

You'd think the album of the same name would include everything and more off the demo but my copy of the album doesn't include certain tracks off the F.E.T.O. demo which are: Unclean, Sacrificed, Siege of Power, What Can Man Do, Control, Death by Manipulation and Abbatoir and none of them are on my copy of Scum either.

If you have been able to locate copies of those early demos, where did you find them?

I haven't checked youtube to see if they are on there and I'll rip them off if there's no other place I can find them, but as a collector when it comes to really early releases by important bands I always want to own a hardcopy.

Thanks

Sorry, I really don't have much of value to contribute here but what is the best ND album? As they are probably one of the first & biggest grind band, I need to 'learn' more about their stuff. All I've heard from them is Scum. Thanks in advance.

The Curse 7" was only released together with the first edition of the FETO LP (gatefold) as a bonus, never been sold separately.

I think that song "Internal Animosity" was originally on this compilation: https://www.discogs.com/Various-Pathological-Compilation/master/17337

I have the demos from 1984-1986, and some bootlegs and compilations of the early/rare stuff (1982-1988).
You can find lots of N.D (and much more) mp3s on Soulseek.

Most bands that ended up on the John Peel radio show, performed maybe their best stuff on that show (He invited them to play live in the studio). Napalm Death is no exception.

This, FETO and Scum demos is all you need (and the first two lps).

Also dig into the John Peel Sessions for more grind, punk, hardcore thrash bands doing their best to impress Mr. Peel and anyone listening.

Never heard of John Peel.

Did he play for Napalm Death?

I've never heard their Peel Sessions demo but he's not listed on the lineup.

Was he someone who had an important grind radio show or something?

What other bands played on his show?

John Peel was a BBC radio DJ, he often played grindcore and other extreme genres on his show. He also invited bands to go and record in the BBC studios which are the "Peel Sessions" and yes, the Napalm Death Peel recordings are that bands peak (as much as I love FETO).

Too many to mention here. John Peel also ran a label, that released most of these Sessions. (all styles and genres of music)
Take a look here: https://www.discogs.com/label/313331-The-Peel-Sessions

For more grind related insanity check these out:

Edit: Forgot about this https://www.discogs.com/Various-Hardcore-Holocaust-II-The-Peel-Sessions/release/1513945

My personal favorites are the Doctor and the Crippens, Electro Hippies and the Unseen Terror sessions.

Yes, well some of these bands were not really grind but silly fast hardcore (80's stuff using both d-beats and blastbeats) AKA Hardcore Thrash or Proto-grindcore.
But all songs on those compilations are the peel sessions from each band (not the full ones, except that Grind Madness at the BBC)
Even Japanese grinders S.O.B. did a peel session.
