Hey grindheads, selling a couple of shirts over on the selling board, including Gate, Kill the Client, Fuck the Facts.. I'll only post this once so I'm not a complete asshole.

And so this post isn't complete spam and devoid of content, has anyone else heard Death of Self? It's a side project of Ethan from Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire, has the some sort of bleak atmosphere, but overall a lot more straightforward and grinding. Check it out here: http://deathofself.bandcamp.com/album/m ... ntegration

And Dephosphorus' debut is streaming on their bandcamp as well. Haven't listened to it yet, but I'm sure it'll be amazing, as Axiom was.

For all the red flags I saw when checking out Death of Self that shit is pretty ripping.

Also, wish you were a large, I'd snatch that Gate shirt up in a heartbeat.

Also, GOWL!

It is, isn't it. Why the red flags though? Not because of Clinging, is it? Besides their name, I don't know why they get such a bad rep..

Its the Harmonies From A Bleeding Mouth demo/ep that gave Clinging the bad rep. It had more than a few of the random spazzy sections wired for sheer randomness and breakdowns that seemed to be there for no reason other than to be brutal. The whole thing reminded a lot of people of a slightly less retarded Iwrestledabearonce.

I really enjoy Clinging. I didn't know there was any hate or dislike for the band. It was either enjoyment or never heard of. I enjoy Death of Self too. I should have my 7in soon I think.

I while ago when I was just starting to get into black metal, this guy in metals class told me about some grindcore band that was pretty well known, and they were known for dropping their guitars on the ground at the end of some songs to get a really weird tone. Does anyone know who im talking about?

Kungfu Rick rules. And I don't hate Nasum, they were just a target for a lot of flack recently on the boards and I was just keeping with tradition. :p

Eh, never really listened to Clinging so it wasn't that, more that the name, logo, and album art all had me expecting some "mysterious" hardcore that just happened to blast on occasion and was masquerading as "grindcore."

Fear of God is insane. Someone needs to repress the Zeitgeist 2LP.

I have some (obviously) bootlegged compilation CD of their stuff, so a repress of pretty much anything of theirs would be awesome. I think the s/t 7" and Pneumatic Slaughter were repressed not too long ago but I can't find them anywhere. Well, except for discogs but they're usually gone by the time I try to place an order.

Wait. You mean one of the M-A grind projects is actually approaching having work done on it? Well damn. I need to get back into doing grind vocals then (got distracted with a melodeath thing one of the local guys is starting).

On a more topical note, apparently Agenda of Swine are headed back into the studio shortly. I might be a minority in this but I found their first album to be absolutely killer once I learned to stomach the ranting vocal style.

Yea I really didn't think Pete's style fit Agenda of Swine. it's perfect for what Benumb did but Agenda was more advanced and i think calls for more involvement of the vocals. I thought the album was good but largely forgettable. I really don't remember much of it. I'll have to revisit it.

and yea it looks like there might be something. So i'm encouraging it as much as possible. No one else that was down has came even this close. The only other one Im's me about how they might or might not have something or whatever for months. And how they are going to do this and then that and then talk about whatever randomness. but nothing ever comes to fruitation.

Seems I need a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter, and then I'm going to record with much better (yet still very amateurish) quality. I forget...was anybody going to do bass on this stuff?

I had recently purchased an M-Audio interface specifically for this project, but holy shit is the latency HORRIBLE on this thing. I think I'm just going to plug direct into my laptop/soundcard and see what happens. Hopefully I get good results. I was given one of those Ibanez Smash Box distortion pedals recently, and surprisingly enough this thing can give me a pretty killer tone for death/thrash/grind through my Peavey Special 1x12. If all else fails, I think I'm just going to walk around the corner from my house and record the guitar tracks at the local record shop as they have a fully equipped studio, and I don't think the owner will mind squeezing me in whenever.

I would very much like to but cannot make any promises as my life is kinda fucked right now and I still need to figure out how to record on my comp... i do have garageband, mics, a rig, aaaaaaaand a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter though so apparently I'm already ahead of the game :-D

If you dudes compile some drum n guitar stuff and want to send me an mp3 or something to play along to I will make it happen. Would be down to play a part in vocals as well if it gets that far.

Yeah man, sounds good! The riffage I've been tinkering around with is like Assuck meets Gorguts; something direct and to the point with the weird Gorguts styled stuff being guitar fills or quick little noodling. I'm trying not to make it sound too off-the-wall or techy, but we'll take this wherever it may go musically.

I may just record some of the riffs on my phone tonight just so y'all can get an idea of what to expect.

I've been getting really into grindcore lately, and I've been drawn to bands like Wormrot, Pig Destroyer, and Discordance Axis. Are there any other good grind bands that don't have a bassist?

Yes, but there's a bunch more bands that rip that have a bass player so check these bass-less bands out first and then come back for more.

I still need to check out that new stuff (post-LP) that SBB recorded, that band rulesssss.

And the storm knocked out my power last night, so I couldn't record anything. Hopefully I'll be able to tonight if the wind and rain calm down.

Fucking hurricane haha... I haven't checked the post-LP stuff either but really need to, just listened to the LP material this morning after letting it alone for a while... still rips. That guitar tone is in-fucking-credible.

Shit yeah, like we've said before, that and the Death Toll 80K album are the two best grind albums of the last year or so. I'd throw the new Cellgraft up there too, but I haven't listened to it as much. Maybe that will change...

EDIT: Just listened to that new SBB stuff...it fucking rules, as expected. :headbang:

Gridlink's "Amber Gray" doesn't have a bassist. If you like Discordance Axis, I'm sure you will like it too.
Even though it does have a bassist, you should check out their "Orphan" album too because it fucking rules (:

rerecorded with a bassist if you got the Orphan LP, sounds like a beast.
