I don't think that Assück has any three-minute song. Hell, I don't think they even have a two-minute song! :p

Early Exhumed might be a good choice, I concur. Also try the latest Napalm Death.

That DT80k album is ridiculously good. A great example of how grindcore should be done... or at least one approach. Six Brew Bantha's newest LP is another great example but with a slightly different approach.

Looking for grind releases with songs at least 3 minutes long. I would also like to not have any porn/gore/weirdshit lyrics/imagery. Cattle Decap, and Misery Index are good examples.

For straight up grindcore you'll be hard-pressed to find songs exceeding 3 minutes regularly but based on the bands you mentioned it seems you're more interested in death/grind so... stuff like Haemorrhage, Exhumed, Dead Infection, Assuck, and General Surgery. Parlamentarisk Sodomi does have a 10 minute long grind epic that is linked higher up on this page if memory serves.

Haemorrhage, Exhumed, Dead Infection, and General Surgery all sing about gore.

Yep, figured a compromise would have to happen somewhere. There's plenty of short grind songs about other shit than gore but once you enter the realm of death/grind for song length the lyrical subject matter isn't of a wide variety.

Also, Ricin, you listed Misery Index so I assume you're familiar with Dying Fetus... but if not then definitely check out "Killing on Adrenaline" Longer songs and more straight forward and focus on blasting than their later material.

Hmmm.... you throwing PD in there makes this difficult but try Skullshitter (NY) and Nuclear Scorn (TX). Skullshitter isn't particularly short but it has a bit more death metal influence which may fit the PD qualifications and depending on what era you like, ND qualifications as well. Nuclear Scorn leans more towards ND's early works. For just generally short and super catchy stuff check out Hummingbird of Death... their Diagnosis: Delicious 7", Goatmeal 5", and split with I Accuse! especially.

Hummingbird of Death is like a grindy Crass XD fuck yeah!!
Not too big on raw grind so I didn't enjoy NS and SS as much

Immediately sounded like Nasum, so I turned it off and went back to listening to...something else. I mean, if you're into Nasum/RS, go for it. But I personally throw up in my mouth a little bit every time I hear something that sounds like a typical Nasum song.

I was quite a big Nasum fan until I saw them live a couple weeks ago. I mean they do have quite a selection of killer songs, but all they played was boring, "Inhale-Exhale" was the only exception. The best riff they played was actually during their music check, but if you play the "world eater" riff, no matter what band you are, you´re not going to top it, haha.

Wormrot was so much better, they are great live, better then on record.

Random babbling over.

Well you can't judge current Nasum as the one who wrote all the material recorded since the main songwriter has long since been dead.

For fans of bass guitars and grind. Best band in Buffalo, NY right now. So loud live.

Also Nasum isn't grindcore.

Honestly who cares if they are. I enjoy the fuck out of them. I heard water torture... it's alright. I prefer Suffering Bastard for the exact same style and I think the same city.

all I can find is old ass live videos... maybe they aren't around anymore

To me they are or have a decent amount that I would consider grind, but I honestly don't care enough one way or another to defend or detract from any band that wants to claim a label... unless it's vastly incorrect. Like when people say Daughters is grindcore or something like that....I like Daughters... but fuck no they aren't grindcore.

I don't understand how someone can listen to Grind Finale and not think it's grindcore.

It's a grower, for sure. So listen repeatedly (which shouldn't be hard, it's only 12 minutes).

Haha whooaaaaaaa... I will say that I think everything Nasum has done after Inhale/Exhale has been boring. Not my style at all, I'd never claim they aren't grindcore... they're just the boring, overly polished, relapse grindcore that I can't stand.

Just for fun, what exactly does me being in Spewtilator tell you? Aside from thinking Nasum is boring, of course.

New Cellgraft is okay. loved the opening, but it was a bit of a teaser since the thing just blazes by too quickly. I'll have a review when I'm back from vacation probably.

Whoever said it is right, it is a grower though.

Should check out the new thedowngoing. If you don't know them it's dissonant noisey grindcore that's well done with guitar playing a bit similar to DxAx but a lot of variants and curveballs.

As short as it is, it feels WAY longer. I think it might just be the production, because when the riffs are discernible, they sound awesome. "Unceded Marl" and "Deformed Resonations" are probably my favorites.

Well I disagree. But then again I listen to a lot of "punkier" grindcore and my definition of what is and isn't grindcore is p. exclusive. You also can't go by what this site says. It says Excruciating Terror is a death metal/grindcore band which is clearly not the case.

Not usually a fan of dissonant stuff but this is pretty rad, though the logo and album cover had me wary going in. Definitely like that they stick primarily to grinding and don't spend too much time on the artsy/breakdowny parts that kill most bands like this for me.

Listened to the Cellgraft LP last night, thought it was pretty cool! I totally get the sentiment that the actual length:feels-like length is a bit skewed, but usually those types of albums end up sticking around on the turntable for good lengths of time.

I need to buy that thedowngoing album. FleshMonolith's post on his blog about the EP prior to this one hyped up my curiosity enough to check out all their other stuff, and I have to say it's pretty awesome. I'm a huge fan of dissonant/semi-techy stuff in grind that actually manages to be brutal as fuck without descending into self-parody, but there's like three or four bands out there today that manage to do that even remotely well in my book. Good to add another band to the top of that list.

Did anybody pick up that Immortal Fate/Plutocracy split LP, perchance? Plutocracy's side is on YT and sounds pretty killer, wondering how Immortal Fate's is since that band absolutely crushes. I'll probably end up ordering it regardless.

Been jamming the Powercup/PHF split this morning, this shit is so good.

Happy to hear all the love for thedowngoing. They're touring the states this fall if any of you are interested. I'm pretty excited.

As I expected, the cellgraft lp did grow on me. Once you hear it a couple of times and pick out the riffs and cool drum patterns it quickly becomes an exceptional album.

Check out my review here (with streaming).
