Long time!!
My favorites 2014 (in no particular order)

Compulsion to Kill - Ruined Society (Malaysian grindcore in the vein of Demisor!)
Archagathus & Dead Issue - Split
Dead Issue - Driving Way To Hell And Back EP (This fucking rips!!)
G.O.D. - Destroy your Life for Capitalism EP (So does this one!)
Whoresnation - Scum Will Reign
V.A. - Grind for Passion, Not for Fashion (A Brazilian Tribute to Agathocles)
Endless Demise - Past the Point of Punishment (Raw Us grindcore)
Disturbance Project - Gritos Mientras Puedas (Spanish grindcore, Ex-Denak members)
Death Toll 80k & Sete Star Sept - Split (Finnish grind in the vein of Insect Warfare Vs. noise chaos from japan)
Carcass Grinder & Sete Star Sept - Split (jap grind vs. jap noisegrind)
Blood Freak - Squalor (Had not heard this band before, pleasant suprise!)
Yacøpsæ & Shitnoise Bastards - Split (Live tracks from Yacopsae, Noisegrind chaos from SB)

None grindcore
Yacøpsæ & Slight Slappers - Split (german fastcore veterans vs. japanese fastcore insanity)
Nuclear Cult - Cruel Routine (None-Yacopsae German fastcore veterans in a new band)
Human Error/Psykoanalyysi - Split (The Psykoanalyysi side is nuts)
D.F.C. - Sequência Animalesca De Bicudas E Giratórias (Brazilian Thrashcore)

2014 was also an excellent year for Discography cds/tapes
Bungus - The First Two Years
Captain Three Leg - One Band's Trash Vol. 1 & 2 (CTL unreleased discography!!! Vol. 3 was released 2015)
Chülo - Narco Terrorismo Sonoro
Ecostench - Discography 1995-1997 (Found this some weeks ago, never heard before, real crazy stuff)
Necrose - Discography 1992-2013 (200+ songs!! noisecore madness from Brazil)

I have not heard the Tumor 1987-1995 4xCD Discography yet, but i'm sure it's very nasty and that it would probably be on my list =)

ThanatosUK wrote:
I need more shit like Arsedestroyer

Nee! - Nee Means No CD (From the Neatherlands)
Ventilator - Real H.C. Is Dead, Noise Is The Only Way Tape (From Germany)
Sete Star Sept - Any of their 651916516315 releases (Japanese)
Purulent Shitface - Cute and Glorious (Revisiting the Garbage Days) (Discography, German noisegrind)
Mental Siege - Anything (very hard to find their tapes, but totally worth it. Old German Noisecore at it's finest)
Nojs Bojs - Propaganda Frisyrer Rock'N'Roll Kommersialism (The other Swedish noisecore band (Arsedestroyer being the other one), well there's Monkey Mush, but... oh well nevermind ^^)
Necrose - Anything (Brazilian noisecore)
Brigada Do Odio - Old Brazilian noisecore from 1985!!, their 2002 self titled EP is good but not as good as that 1985 split with Olho Seco
Ipekakuana - Demo tapes #3 & #4 (Chaotic polish noisecore)

And all those old German noisecore bands (W.B.I., Necrophiliacs, Tumor, etc.)

Edit: Totally forgot about Mundo De Mierda from Colombia, killer stuff!

^Oh man, I STILL haven't checked out the G.O.D. EP and the Dead Issue EP, I really need to get on that. Plus there's a bunch of other stuff on that list that appeals to me, thanks for posting that!

Can anyone recommend grindcore that sounds like the first half of Napalm Death's Scum? I really can't stand Lee Dorian's vocals, the songs, the production and the overall shittiness of the second half of the album. Also, please don't recommend anything that captures the general style of that album and/or band, just that specific part of Scum. To me, the first half sounds like a sped-up Discharge, another band I love.

Thanks in advance.

I can't really think of anything that fits your requirements at the moment...have you heard the Napalm Death Peel Sessions? Those are pretty much the best recordings of those Scum-era songs. The only other things I can think of are early Extreme Noise Terror, SOB, Sore Throat, and some of the super fast bands from the 80s Scandinavian hardcore scene. As for modern stuff, I'm drawing a blank here.

I mean, if you're just talking bpm, I guess it pales in comparison to The Kill or whoever, but I think it's gotta enough of a deathgrind plus powerviolence slant to count. Hell, if Blood Freak counts, Rort counts..

Australia is just killing it recently btw, some other new jams from down under:

I don't mean any disrespect, but why would you recommend a Napalm Death recording that features Lee Dorian on vocals when I specifically stated I can't stand him? I went ahead and checked it out anyway and I still can't stomach his vocals. I'm glad he gave up on extreme metal and opted for Cathedral instead as his capabilities as a vocalist seem to be better suited to the style of that band.

I'm aware of the 80s Scandinavian hardcore scene, but not too familiar with it. I know of Anti Cimex and that's about it. They're in the right direction, but lack the speed and aggression.

Sore Throat's sounding pretty close to what I'm looking for. Their debut Unhindered by Talent is pretty awesome so far. Thanks for the heads up on them.

I figured maybe those recordings could convince you otherwise had you not heard them before, but I see that's not the case! It's all good man, no worries. Glad to see you're digging Sore Throat, I love that band. Look into their Death To Capitalist Hardcore 7" and Disgrace To The Corpse of Sid as well. Also check out recordings by Splatterreah and Hypochristians, may be something up your alley. You may be interested in delving more into noisecore while you're at it since you took to Sore Throat well, or even bands that play fast hardcore that "accidentally" end up sounding like brilliant noisecore recordings.

Am I the only one who doesn't get the hype surrounding The Kill? I checked them out some time ago, having come across their name in some band's similar artists section on last.fm. The ND reference obviously piqued my interest (not that it's bode well for other bands in this scene who lift their names from old classics, considering I haven't been impressed by any of them).

I didn't even realize they were the new pet band of grind and hc fans at the time, yet I'd already surmised that they were incredibly mediocre and instantly forgettable at the time of hearing them, so no one can say I only only dislike them for being popular! :old: :-P

Basically, I'm not at all believing the hype. Admittedly, I am late to the party, having only discovered them around the time that their 2012 LP I can't remember the name of because it bored me retarded came out. At any rate, I've noticed a lot of references to them popping up here and other places over the last several months, and I don't know why. They've been around for years prior to that mediocre LP which seems to have put them on the map. What's the deal? Maybe I haven't heard the right stuff? Feel free to make a recommendation...

The Kill originally appealed to me because they were ridiculously fast, but I'm not that into them anymore...the riffs don't really hold up, IMO.

You may wanna dig through Phyllomedusa's bandcamp: https://phyllomedusa.bandcamp.com/

There's a lot of weird stuff on there, but there's some Putrefaction in Progress-era LDOH worship in there, not too sure which though.

Also, does anyone know of any good recent goregrind?

Coooooool, thanks. I will definitely make an effort to hear that releases, then. Appreciate the recommendation. I hope I'll enjoy it.

Side note: Those snares that go "PING!" are usually high-tuned piccolo snares, which may be valuable to your research, Ricin.
Also, I've discovered Pringles cans actually make for a pretty decent piccolo sound if you wanna make shitty myspace cyberpuke BS in your bedroom! n_n

Haven't checked The Kill's newest yet, I enjoyed that 2012 LP but I haven't been left with the desire to really hear their new stuff. Dragunov nailed it, it's ripping and fast as fuck but it's only really good because of those things.

As for newer goregrind, depends what side of the coin you like. If you like lo-fi and blown out nastiness then there's a ton.

I approve of this post.

Pulsating Cerebral Slime - http://pulsatingcerebralslime.bandcamp.com/

The Kill's latest album is head and shoulders above their first imo, razor sharp riffs and juicy blasts; if you check that out and don't like it then they're prob just not for you. I'll admit their 2012 record isn't all it's cracked up to be, but the new one is definite favourite.

Edit - also, only tangentially related to grind, but I think FM and Dragunov at least would be interested, the drummer of Shitstorm is playing in a war metal band called Caveman Cult, got a demo out, it rules.

I have been searching this board quite a bit without getting useful results, so I am posting this here:

I am looking for grind which has some "groovy" (for lack of a better phrase) parts while still appealing to the attention-challenged. To clarify this a bit, I want stuff like those two songs from Carcass' Reek of Putrefaction: Foeticide (starting part) and Burnt to a crisp (starting at 17 seconds). The title track from Nasums Inhale/Exhale arguably has some groove in it, too, but it is drawn out a bit too much for my taste and gets boring without the blasting parts in the former two examples (especially foeticide). Right now I cannot think of another fitting example, sadly.

Is there anything roughly like this? I mostly know the major names (and some of those being thrown around here), so even seemingly obvious recommendations would be appreciated.

Was not aware of Groinchurn, that second song is really good, thanks.

However, the other songs don't really do much for me. Maybe 'groove' was a bit misleading, but I don't know how else to call this. I'm not looking for that Pantera-Walk-thing which bores me to death.

Instead, I need something with the energy of Burnt to a Crisp, as mentioned above. That part 10 seconds in with the stomping riff and the drums following closely (I wonder if there is a name for this) is precisely what I'm looking for.

DeadSea, you may like Mule Skinner. Their debut, Abuse, is chock full of old school segmented riffs. I think this song is a good example of their "groovier" songs (20 seconds in):

It's really just old school grindcore riffing, but it has a similar "groovy", swaying/lumbering quality.

Maybe Dead Infection would be good, too (43 seconds):

Back for more recommendation similar to Napalm Death's "From Enslavement To Obliteration" album. I'm already aware of all of Napalm Deaths catalog and so far the closest thing outside of Napalm Death to that album is Realized "21st Century Terminal World". I'm ideally looking for something that matches the tone of the music, as well as the playing style. All resemblances are welcome but I'd prefer the vocalist to sound as similar to Dorrian as possible, he was ferocious on that album.

Might be worth it to check out Agathocles for their early stuff if you haven't already. I think their split LP with Drudge is really good, and it kind of captures an atmosphere similar to FETO in terms of production, though it's a lot more under-produced and muddy by comparison:

Brazil's Rot also play old school grind/mincecore in that vein:

(Hope you don't mind the drum machine)

Warsore could be compared somewhat in terms of riffs and drumming, but the vocals are quite dissimilar to Dorrian's, and most or all of their recordings were (I assume) recorded dry, straight to tape, so their music is relatively lo-fi and it lacks the atmospheric flourishes of FETO.

Great someone agrees only the A side is good. Give these albums a try:

Repulsion - Slaughter Of The Innocent (Demo) (1986) (USA)
Repulsion (Genocide) - The Stench Of Burning Death (Demo) (1986) (USA)
Nuclear Death - Carrion For Worm (1991) (USA)
Bolt Thrower - In Battle There Is No Law (1988) (UK)
Blood - Impulse To Destroy (1989) (GER)

Stumbled upon Internal Rot's Mental Hygiene in the local shop and bought it. So fucking good, really was annoyed that I couldn't get a stream of it when it came out to know whether or not I should grab it. Happy I did though, one of the best grind LPs i've heard recently.

Meant to ask, what are the pics on the jacket from?

Interesting, does look a bit like Kate Bush; looks like a horror movie still though. Saw Cryptic Void open for lycanthrophy; they were pretty boring. Wake however were way better live then on record; nice dudes too.

First person I've heard say CV were boring live. I may get a chance to catch them soon-ish, I'm sure I'll be impressed as long as they turn their amps on before they play.

If I'm anything constantly it's a curmudgeon. Maybe its cause the venue jsut didn't sound good, but they just sounded like if Insect Warfare awoke from a coma and only remembered their less interesting material. The singer had a cool Leviathan tattoo, so props to that.

Cloud Rat are great. This is amazing album. I love the way they mix atmospheric and melodic parts with chaotic parts.

I'm getting real tired of this bland ultra polished to a faceless sheen grind that there seems to be alot of. Teethgrinder, Organ Dealer, Theories, Unrest, not even including faux grind like King Parrot. Well played, perfectly recorded, utterly boring.

At least this new Farsas album is pretty good.

I echo your sentiment though I think Unrest is the only one of those bands i've actually heard of, and only because I like some of the other stuff Unspeakable Axe records has put out.

Was unfamiliar with Farsas so I gave em a listen and it ain't bad, tho this is almost too polished for my tastes haha! My main beef is the almost constant screamed vocals... makes it all just kinda glaze together and there's no punctuation to any of it.

For 'unpolished' stuff where everything is still audible I've been digging on these new Pulsating Cerebral Slime tracks pretty hard.
