Basicly, the title says itself.
I want something that screams 80's.
The best examples I can come up with would be the intro to the "Seperate Ways" cover by Blessed By A Broken Heart:

Another (though lesser) example would be the intro to "She Wolf" -- once again by BBABH. It also features those super cheesy 80's drum effects, which counts for big bonus points.

Neither Sci Fi nor actually metal (more hard-rockish) but what's with Judas Priest's "Turbo" album?
I love it - it's total 80s synth cheesiness with great "stupid" (in a positive way!!!) songs.

I immediately thought of ultra famous tunes like Dragon Force "Through The Fire And The Flames" and Van Halen's "Dreams" + "Why Can't This Be Love" and Journey "Separate Ways". As mentioned Judas Priest "Turbo Lover" is a classic.

Only slightly more obscure you've got Amaranthe. They are ooozing with cheese...

This song too soars like an eagle on a meth bender...

Might be too serious or melancholy for your purposes but it's always good to throw down some Amorphis...

Less cheesy and more "bar rock" in nature, but still totally slams...

Maybe too slow to qualify as a soaring synth tune, but 80's and catchy as hell...

I too would like some recommends on this front. I thought I had a whole Best Of list in this style but apparently not.

Not metal at all, but synthwave is pure 80's.

Supreme Majesty, the best 80's band from the 00's.
