I havent really put much effort into listening to them at all. I suppose for powerviolence ive been pretty content with what i have to listen to, DropDead are my ultimate fix for Powerviolence.

And i take it, judging by your location and quote, you are a fan of Extortion?

I knew it was a stretch. There is a slew of Australian grind that meets your Sloppy/Muddy/Crappy requirements :D

Can you name some bands? I'd ask Bezerko on MSN, but he'd reply with a truckload of "satanic spam"

Captain Cleanoff - an oldschool sound with overt punk influences.
The Kill - insane blasting madness that creates muddy production.
Die Pigeon Die - the production is solid, so this may not vibe with you but they have a great mix of uber fast/ultra slow.

Moving away from Australia for a moment, another band that might interest you is My Mind Is Mind. They fit your requirements but do not offer a big discog.

If you like d-beat, the Swedish band Afgrund is pretty solid but again, the production might be a little clean.

I can't say there is one deathcore band I like. All the bands I've heard sound the same, I think its overrated. I like some metalcore though like Shadows Fall (pre-Threads of Life), Lamb of God (pre-Sacrament), Unearth, All That Remains (Fall of Ideals), Killswitch Engage (The End of Heartache, some stuff off AOJB)

I'll agree that Sacrament wasn't very good, especially in comparison to Ashes Of The Wake, but it's still enjoyable enough. I hope Wrath can be an improvement. I'll say that I'm more looking forward to the next Chimaira before Lamb Of God, as I like the former better.

I enjoy a number of deathcore bands. I know there are heaps that are hated, but I can find enjoyment in the genre. I'd give you some recommendations, but I doubt you'd enjoy one of them. :P

Sacrament owns you. One of the most atmospheric melodeath album I've ever heard. Also, Threads of Life is Shadows Falls' best album.

Damn, there seems to be a lot of hate for any genre with "core" in it :???:

I've recently become fascinated with noisy grindcore bands such as Rotten Sound and Anaal Nathrakh, and in addition to finding more bands like this I'm also wondering what people consider to be the "best" album of both bands. I already know that Codex Necro would most likely be my favorite for AN simply because their newer stuff just doesn't do it for me, but for Rotten Sound I have no clue. I like the song "Burden" off-of the Exit album, but is this what I should be listening to if I want the full/best Rotten Sound experience ?

But yeah, I like a lot of different styles when it comes to music, but for this particular interest I dig anything that sounds like Necroanal mixed with S.O.D. and The Black Dahlia Murder.

Anaal Nathrakh really aren't all that grindy...

But yes, The Codex Necro is their best, along with the demos.

You should begin with Murderworks. I think it's Rotten Sound's best album, although you can't go wrong with Exit, to be honest.

If you like Exit for more than the drumming, definitely check out the newest album Cycles.
That as one of the best grindcore albums this year (next to the new Cripple Bastards)

i dont get why people are getting all worked up about how all deathcore bands suck i mean just look at all shall perish, carnifex, the black dahlia murder, despised icon, whitechapel, and winds of plague...all of those bands are classified as "deathcore" but they are brutal as shit. they are way more on the death metal side than the deathcore side, but they are just part of the deathcore scene. so look up those bands and they are by far the best bands in the deathcore scene. its not shitty deathcore like bring me the horizon

A lot of people don't even consider TBDM deathcore at all.. so.
And Winds of Plague is just bad.

I hope you realize that grindcore and deathcore are poles apart.

For grindcore..

Napalm Death - Scum
Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction
Repulsion - Horrified
Insect Warfare - World Extermination and At War With Grindcore
Machetazo - All albums
Pig Destroyer - Prowler at the yard

I'm kind of new to Grindcore myself, but I've enjoyed all those albums.

Insect Warfare is the shit I tell you! My favorite grindcore band of all time. Can anyone recommend any band that is nearly as awesome as they are? (Yup I get a major boner at the mention of Insect Warfare.) Seriously though, are there other good bands that also alternate sections of fast blasting with midpace thrash riffage? I've got Captain Cleanoff's Symphonies of Slackness but it it ain't quite enough. Or maybe I'm just better off listening to Insect Warfare's discography over and over again.

Anyone want to reccomend me some grindcore with heavy thrash influences? The kind of grind that mainly focuses on wild, necksnapping riffs? I need albums similiar to:

Brutal Truth - "Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses"
Pig Destroyer - "Terrifyer" and "Phantom Limb"
Agenda of Swine - "Waves of Human Suffering"
Repulsion - "Horrified"
Nuclear Death - "Bride of Insect"
S.O.B. - "Don't Be Swindle" (This might be debatable, if it is grind or not)

And to some extent Kill The Client - "Cleptocracy" and Terrorizer - "World Downfall"

I've already tried some Insect Warfare and I thought they were alright. Not really what I was looking for. And I've also sampled some CC's Symphonies of Slackness and was kind of underwhelmed. I don't know why, but I seem to be really fond of Scott Hull-like riffs (Agoraphobic Nosebleed & Pig Destroyer).

The grind half of Blood Duster's Lyden Na has a lot of riffs that are similar to Agoraphobic Nosebleed stuff, but perhaps a bit more death metal influenced in general. It's good regardless, though it doesn't have a heavy thrash influence.

But then, nor does Agoraphobic Nosebleed.

Insect Warfare are indeed awesome, but they'll always remain in second place compared to Napalm Death ;)

But Insect Warfare do give them a run for their money.

I'd like to hear what material Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Dan Lilker (Brutal Truth, Nuclear Assault, Exit-13, etc.), Mick Kenney (Anaal Nathrakh, Mistress, etc.), and Richard Johnson (Enemy Soil, Drugs of Faith, Agoraphobic Nosebleed) could create if they were all trapped inside a recording studio for a week.

Bolt Stein! Check out the extremely short addition to the Bolt Stein/Insect Warfare split. Its basically Bolt Thrower gone more grind.

gonna just bypass EVERYTHING on here thus far and say

Abaddon Incarnate - Nadir

want it raw, gritty and filthy-yet accessible?
dig that Nasum style production but wish the music was more visceral?
want to hear RAGING lower vocals ripe with contempt and bitterness AND shrieking banshee highs?
how about a good ass kickin' 8 second rock hook before a grindblast excursion into hell?
an atmosphere of hatred and scorn?
actual charm and personality flowing freely?

Abaddon Incarnate - Nadir

Cretin - Freakery
Repulsion worship, down to the guitar solos, with a "current" feel. Definitely fits the "thrash" bill - however the lyrics might be a turn off to some, since they are more on a human level compared to Repulsions abstract death/plague/destruction.

Seems like an obvious one, though. Sorry.

This band may be able to be described as 'deathcore' to a degree. The basic underlying sound is built on a guttural US slam style, but their riffs incorperate a hell of a lot of groove, and borrow a lot from the hardcore/grind/death genres.

Cumbeast - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... D=20349157

Their album 'Goumet Of Ill Shit' is an absolute romp to listen to. Constantly changing thru the above mentioned genres with an abundance of death/grind/hardcore/slam switched up guitar riffs, and with vocal stylings that change as much as the style of riffing ie. death/guttural/scream/yell/rap. Drumming is great, a constant barrage of different patterns/timings/fills that doesn't ever come of sounding like generic monotonous tech drumming, that i think a lot of these bands suffer from. 'Dr Dongledore' is a good track from this release, and lays down a pretty good idea of whats to be expected for the other tracks.

Please see Napalm Death's "Mentally Murdered" EP as well as their second full length "From Enslavement to Obliteration." However, their second album is still very hardcore influenced but the vocals are down the death-growl aisle.

On a different note, check out Phobia's "Cruel" full length for a more modern take on the whole death/grind blend with a huge touch of crust.

IMO Terrorizer's album is highly overrated. Maybe the first few tracks are great, but everything just seems to sound the same afterwards. At least it's way better than their follow up album 20 years after their classic was released.

"Cancer of Oppression", "Human Slaughterhouse", and "After War Obliteration" are some of the songs that do it for me. :D.

By the way, does anyone else here have the This Comp Kills Fascists, Vol. 1 compilation? Neat stuff.

I cannot stand those really guttural, frogish vocals that some grind and deathcore bands use. It's just ridiculous.

If you're talking about vocals a la Cock And Ball Torture, then I must agree with you. However, there are always exceptions...such as Malodorous.
