they already have an ep/demo on Itunes

They have to release a physical copy before they can be on the archives though. :(

That is what got me into ShitStorm. Now I fucking love that band. Don't know why, since it is pretty straighforward musically but they are a bulldozer running down hill with no breaks. Great stuff. Their split with Magrudergrind has some seriously wicked grind.

Repulsion - Horrified

Fistfuck - Felicitation Pour Votre Beau Programme

Somewhat but not entirely unlike the Terrorizer of old. Also if you do an advanced search for "grind" in the genre and "Japan" in the country, you will find gobs of excellent grind that no one talks about. Seriously worth the time it takes to research.

Can anyone recommend bands that sound similar to Ted Maul? They're probably the only deathcore band I like.

Prowler In The Yard is their best, followed by Phantom Limb, but that's just me. Yeah, they're pretty good, although I have to be in the right mindset to hear them.

Can someone recommend something along the lines of Cock and Ball Torture, 2 Minuta Dreka, Gut, and (sort-of-ish) Amoebic Dysentery.

Just kind of groovy grind with pitch-shifted vocals... any ideas are much appreciated...

Very true.

I'm looking for something along the lines of Suicide Silence, Impending Doom, or All Shall Perish. I like breakdowns and I'm not looking for anything incredibly intelligent, just something fun and brutal. Preferably with no clean vocals.

Try Beneath The Massacre or Nightshade (Fra). WARNING: Nightshade uses bass drops like fucking crazy, so you might really hate that band.

Rompeprop for sure. Menstrual Stomphulk is very punkish, if you're into that. If not, go for Hellcock's Pornflakes. More goregrind influence.

Possibly even XXX Maniak.

Last Days Of Humanity might be good for ya... not necessarily the most grooviest grind out there but their later stuff is slow paced sort of grind. But the vocals are totally pitch-shifted.

More along the lines of your suggestion, try Happy Face. Their first album, Le Tigre (I think it is) has total groove and guttural/pitch-shifted vocals. According to what I think you're asking for, Happy Face are not goregrind, more like deathcore MINUS the lameness, but have that distinct slow groove grind sound. Right up your alley mate.

It goes without saying Happy Face are one of the few real enjoyable deathcore bands out there who don't have an ounce of trend, influence of Swedish melo-death metal or cliche Soilwork-esque speed riffs in them. Very good stuff, at least their fist album seems to be with deep guttural vocals, sludgy riffs and tin-can sounding drums (I love that personally.)

So what's the deal with Magrudergrind? Powerviolence? Fastcore? I'm just wondering if they're anything like straight=up grindcore. And to continue on that, are they any good?

Ahhhh! Pitchshifted groove-orientated goregrind! My favorite genre! I would agree with Romperprop as they fall moreso along the lines of the first 3 bands mentioned. Others i would highly reccomend you check out in a similar groovy pitchshifted gore-grind vein:

Bile (Now known as Skullhog) - Their first two albums under the Bile monkier are definately what you are looking for. Mega-downtuned gore-grind that has an extremely sludgy sound, and musically shifts between short blasts, midpaced grooves and some huge lumbering riffs. Their album 'Camp Blood' is probably my favorite release from this entire genre. http://www.myspace.com/skullhog

Hymen Holocaust - One man band by Morris Cliteater who does everything. Completely blastbeat devoid goregrind. Very heavy and dirty sounding, and again a big focus on groove. Great band/project! http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... D=52454339

Plasma - Another one of my absolute favorite goregrind bands! Absolutely sickening pitchshifter vocals, very downtuned, very heavy, very groove/blast/groove orientated. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... D=60001920

The Day Everything Became Nothing - Tony from Blood Duster on vocals, Dave from Fuck I'm Dead on guitars and Xavier from Roskopp on bass + 2 others. Again downtuned goregrind whose songwriting has a huuuuuuuuuge emphasis on groove. (huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... D=12994193

Die Pigeon Die - Could be likened to the bastard love child of LDOH and TDEBN. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... D=28114041

Mucupurulent - I believe this is probably one of the closest bands you are gonna get to Gut. I have only heard the brilliant album 'Sicko Baby', which has Gut worship written all over it. I dont know what their other albums sound like, but from what i have read, they come a bit more into their own sound, and stray away from the blatant Gut worship a little bit. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... ID=9090724

Check all those bands out dude, enjoy, and let me know what you think! If you expand a bit more on what elements you like about Amoebic Dysentery, i could give you some more recs in that vein!

Assuck- Anticaptial and also Misery Index. Two amazing grind albums with some death metal influence

Misery Index- Overthrow and Retaliate; both excellent releases before they got shitty.

Extreme Noise Terror- Being and Nothing. Super brutal and powerful, great dual vocals; not much of the their crust/grind heritage to be found with this one.

I rank them in this order:
1- 38 Counter of Battery
2- Painter of Dead Girls
3- Prowler in the Yard
4- Terrifier
5- Phantom Limb

When you listen to 38 Counts and Painter you hear *everything* that is PxDx. You hear moments like Hyperviolet here, moments like Grave Dancer and Loathesome there. Really, those two releases cover all of their "styles" and does it well. All the songs were remastered, so the volume levels are fairly consistent. And you don't get shit like "untitled" from Phantom Limb (which was a waste of fucking time) and all the ambient/noise shit they use to begin/end their albums. Yes, Jennifer was cool the first year, but after that, it's just an IMB voice trying to be poetic.

I love Pig Destroyer - don't get me wrong, but Terrifier and Phantom Limb I like least and feel they are commercialized.

Take these two releases, put them in a blender and you get Magrudergrind:
Rotten Sound - From Crust Til Grind
Leng Tch'e - ManMadePredator

They are a 3-piece, drummer-guitarist-vocalist. The vocalist screams like the Leng Tch'e guy. The guitarist plays thrash at the speed of powerviolence and the drummer is highly proficient. Musically, all of them are fantastic. They are on the punk side of grind, mostly due to tune/tone, but that is no escuse for them not to be on the archives. Kick ass band.

I have "62 trax of trash", their split with Shitstorm and their tracks from This Comp Kills Fascists. It's all good.

I like Discordia and Traitors least because they keep moving farther away from grind. The hardocre/grind songs on Traitors sound out of place with the rest of the album.

Still good - but when you buy a Death/Grind release you expect a good deal of grind with your death, you know?

Yeah, that's fair enough. Coincidentally, I'm listening to Antigama's Zeroland right now...what the fuck? It's good, but the last track has pulled it down a lot. Resonance is definitely better.

That "last track swith up" is getting a little too common these days. Rotten Sound has been doing it, Phobia did the "Numb" song on Cruel which sounded like Harmonized Nu-Metal Grind. The sad thing is that I like it. Curse my open mind!

Pig Destroyer did it, too, with the untitled final track on Phantom Limb. (We're talking about the same thing, right?)

The only band I could think of was Veil Of Maya, but they have no electronica elements, unfortunately.

I think it's quite a good track, even if it does go for too long. It's meant to be creepy, and I think it works to its desired effect.

Enter Shikari, Drop Dead Gorgeous and The Devil Wears Prada. The latter two are porbably a long shot, but try 'em out. because they are pretty emo, though alot heavier than enter shikari.

My favourite work by them is Dissent. Its a mix of their work before and after. On Traitors, The Arbiter sounded out of place first but I grown to love it and its become one of my favourite tracks. Listen to Hang em High and the tracks from the Mumakill split if you can because they're almost full out metallic grind. Traitors revisits a lot of their old albums which is why I love it so. I can hear Retaliate, Discordia, and Dissent on it.

I have the MI discog - love the band, especially Overthrow-Dissent-Retaliate. I like their new stuff, but the direction they have gone since Jarvis and Kloeppel started writing their material just bothers me from a grind perspective. They are progressively becoming another Death-Metal-Over-Blast-Beats band, which saddens me, but is good for Death Metal since they are remarkable musicians.

Death metal does not capture me like it did when I was younger. It does not bore me, not at all, I just have troubles focusing on it.
