Y'know! Summer is coming and it's always nice to listen to something that feels summer-y. I was listening to The Curse of Monkey Island's theme and it's wonderfully composed. It's almost beach time, women about to be wearing bikinis and looking all sexy, you name it!

I know 2 bands that sorta plays that kinda stuff 1. Equilibrium from Sagas and Rekreator and 2. Wildpath has one song called "Dive" that feels kinda Caribbean but you know, I want MORE!!!

Could people start suggesting songs, bands, etc?

Thanks :)

Cave of Swimmers plays doom with some Cuban influence.

Let's get to the real question: is there a metal band that uses a steel drum?

dunno, but this song I just happened to be listening to has a string instrument that makes tones similar to carribean steel drums around 1:11

It's more prog-rock than metal, but the only song i can think of with a distinct Caribbean vibe would be "Give It Back" by Gentle Giant. Chill, reggae-like vibe replete with steel drums, occasionally giving way to a nice King Crimson-esque part hinting at the less Gentle side of the Giant that is displayed frequently throughout their releases. They are definitely metal-related though, given that vocalist Derek Shulman (one of three multi-instrumentalist siblings in the band) was responsible for signing MANY bands in the genre to labels, including Bon Jovi, Dream Theater, Pantera, and Slipknot.

Maybe some of Diablo Swing Orchestra's tracks could suit your taste?

Bad Brains' album "I Against I" is both their most metallic and most chilled/cruisy/reggae sounding one.. not sure how they pulled that off but yeah, perfect beach metal:
