Already got Bongripper, they kick ass!
Hate Sunn O)) though.
Also, I think you're confusing it with Belzebong, they're the ones with the song named Bong Thrower.

Gonna check out that Verdun album.

I humbly request some aggressive noisy sludge preferably with some d-beat action.

cause it'd be terribly awesome.

Does anybody know of any doom (preferably extreme doom) mixed with neo-folk? That could be interesting if done right.

That's epic doom.

Isole. Altar of Oblivion put out a killer album this year. Maybe Pallbearercounts too.

Combine epic doom with Bathory and you get Atlantean Kodex, Ereb Altor, and Doomsword.

Hey, Jonpo! Thanks for your continued support! This is one of the few songs for the new album that alludes to any particular story. Arthur Machen's "The Great God Pan" here. Enjoy that wizard bowl tonight!

Hey Howie. I'll reiterate what I said in the h/p/s thread - the riffs are definitely killer, but the vocal lines feel a bit rehashed. I can't help but think they're a little to close to those on "The Right Hand of Doom", and at times "Karnstein Castle", and I'm not really a fan of the processed, deeper vocals, but that said I still think it's a cool song. Maybe it's my problem that I've been spinning "For Mircalla" so much lately! Either way, I'm definitely looking forward to the new album. Looking forward to the CB album as well! Thanks for making such awesome music man!

I would like to hear some droning doom metal with clean vocals, like Rose Kemp and The Puritan.

Received the new Wandering Midget album (and shirt and poster) today and decided to go ahead and add the lyrics to the page here, too! Temples in the Sky seriously might be my favorite doom metal song from this year. Good album and I'm sure it will grow on me more, though initial listens have definitely impressed me. The album artwork is absolutely gorgeous, as an aside - hence why I decided to get both a shirt and a poster.

A quick word to remind everyone that the new The Wandering Midget is out and it's fucking awesome. I forgot about it for a while and I heard it today, it will be in my top 5 of 2012 for sure.

I assume you're familiar with the infamous Flittering? Even if you doubt the authenticity, the music should fit your requirements.

And definitely check out Celestiial, if you haven't already. Wonderful ambient funeral doom:

woah I really like both bands, I havent heard of either of em.
why is Flittering infamous?
anyways while I like what I heard from those songs, Im looking for something a liiiitle more metal/heavier.
something closer to.. a bad meth trip in a dungeon during heroin withdrawals if edgar allan poe wrote it and read it aloud in oakland.

Because there was a huge debate on here as to whether or not they were genuinely from 1993, or a recent hoax. Many people still aren't convinced.

As for more recs, maybe Esoteric? I'm only familiar with the early stuff.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1mIRpb4CwQ

Or maybe Moss. Less trippy than Esoteric.

Since this is my favourite kind of doom along with death/doom I just have to drop a few recs!

Memory Garden's Tides album is amazing epic doom in the vein of Solitude Aeturnus with subtle "proggy" touches to it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6lq1kQpdnk

Forsaken is some powerful epic doom from Malta and I'll recommend their Dominaeon album. The title song is MASSIVE THURST OF POWER:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NE-NTkcHmg

Scald was truly one of a kind EPIC VIKING DOOM METAL band from Russia that unfortunately was also a very short-lived one. They split up quick because of the death of their singer Agyl:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wW8YLDoNoNY

Then we have Litany from Greece. What makes this band unique is that the members have a Byzantine music base and knowledge and it can be heard in their compositions and in their clean "chanting" vocals. They also make use of some extreme metal elements. Here's the opening track from their first and only full-length album:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndYNHt9T5Tk

You might also like everyone's favourite british epic doomsters Solstice on their most acclaimed album to date A New Dark Age:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mACNbbnYxQ (remember to switch the quality up to 420p)

Personally I find Solstice a very boring band. I know I "should" like them as a fan of epic doom metal but I don't get their hooks at all and get tired very quickly with their songs. At least the melodic dual guitar solos are pretty nice.

Try BLUT - Drop Out and Kill; the album has been released this year. It's drone/doom wallowing in filthy trash - dead rats, infected syringes, putrid stench and all the appropriate theatre.
And HELL too, from the US.

I would LOVE to see them live. I really want to hear that live tape they put out but I've never even seen one for sale, let alone ripped. Kinda so-so about the latest album.

Had my first session with Black Hole's Land of Mystery last night. Set the mood with a bowl and all the lights out. I had really big expectations for this one and they were completely shattered and toppled. This album is a formless void where Black Sabbath, Mercyful Fate, and Goblin all get chucked into a blender and channelled through the occult.

Blind Men and Occult Forces was the initial stand-out track for me, but each one held some little twist or quirky idea that help distinguish one song from another in this nebulous haze. I can see where they aren't for everyone but there's gotta be a few fans or potential fans around here...

Black Hole are pretty cool. I really need to listen to them more. I feel like I don't remember a good half of the album, haha... Demoniac City, Land of Mystery and Blind Men and Occult Forces are all that I have any real memory of. Oh, and that Crying Puppets bonus track is pretty cool, too, though it's different. That one actually reminds of a Tiamat track off of A Deeper Kind of Slumber quite a bit.

Black Hole is great. It has that proto-doom sound + italian horror synth + psych influences thing going on that sounds great.

So I'm really getting into sludge lately, and I've listened to all the big name bands (I think). Any lesser known bands I should check out? Extra points if they bring in a slight blues or psychedelic influence.

How would you rate Voci dal Passato? I haven't heard it and I'm curious.
