I have another request. I'm looking for more stuff very much like Dead Congregation. Down-tuned heavy tremolo riffs with very thick production. If there are any aongs like Teeth Into Red, I will really, really appreciate it. Father Befouled is almost there, but the production should be heavier, rather than reverby and cavernous. Disma and Desolate Shrine aren't what I'm looking for.

Antediluvian, Mitochondrion would be my first thoughts, but a band like Ignivomous might be closer to what you're looking for.

I know all three, Ignivomous fits the bill, the others don't quite make it. Thanks, anyway. I do realise it can be difficult to find albums with such high-end production that aren't also noted enough for me to be aware of them.

I mentioned Bölzer in the FFA thread and a few guys enjoyed the band. The production may not be as thick but certainly worth checking out.

Obligatory mention of Cruciamentum, Binah and Grave Miasma.

Let's see if I can help you out even if it's only a little bit eh? Unfortunately finding tracks that are like the fucking brilliant Teeth Into Red is a big ask

The link is rather shitty here, so my apologies, but from your home country I give you Hoath. The production may be a little too thin for you, but this is some very cavernous stuff here, but I'm not sure if it quite fits the bill...

You are probably already familiar with these guys, but Gorephilia are some pretty damn heavy stuff. Probably again a bit off base though.

Not what you are exactly looking for, but this is awesome anyway - Bloodthorn from Norway (just thought I'd sneak that in there).

This is MUCH more on the rawer side of things, but I can't help but recommend Ritual Necromancy. Thunderous and brutal with a cavernous atmosphere.

For some heavy tremolo chaos, is Arkhon Infaustus. Pure sonic madness, but probably too blast heavy.

Going to recommend Denial. This album is swollen with archaic, twisted dissonance at times. Great stuff here, and the album is stellar.

Not sure if this fits the criteria or not but I'm looking for some old school death metal (more obscure, oop stuff) that has recently been reissued and is easy to track down. Already picked up Inside the Unreal and Subconscious Release. Just have been out of the loop for a long time and wondering what else has been rereleased

Burial's Relinquished Souls as well. The Xtreem Series on Xtreem Music (duh) have some stuff out during the past few years. He also repressed some of the earlier reissues like Funebre, Demigod and Rottrevore. Century Media has also been putting some stuff out, be it regular reissues or compilations. Uh, and Utumno was also reissued. I could remember more in the meantime. ;)

Heyo

I'm trying to get into brutal death metal, I asked my buddy MutantClannfear for recs and I really liked Dripping's only album. I'd love to hear some more stuff like that. Think of Wormed as well. So perhaps experimental/atmospheric/spacey/prog bdm? I don't like gore themes except perhaps if it's like sci fi. I don't mind if there's grind influences (but no goregrind/pornogrind) and it would be awesome if it's epic stuff like Nile or Lykathea Aflame.

Hey everyone.

I'm starting to get into Melodic Death Metal that balances both the use of Harsh vocals and clean vocals, as well as those which throw in power Metal elements in there too. Bands like Sonic Syndicate, Scar Symmetry, Amaranthe (even though their harsh vocals are more of an extra than the focus, so I don't know if they count. But I digress), Skyfire and, of course, Children of Bodom.

I also like Melodeath bands that have more fantastical/none serious themes to them, like Amon Amarth, Gormathon and Dethklok. If it's not too specific, anyone know good bands based on these?

Yo.

You can check out Vortex. They're a Jap tech death metal band. Not too much on the brutal side of things but they employ some good experimental sounding sections. They got good melodies as well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuHOMe4R_SE

I would've mentioned Augury's two albums but I recall you don't like them too much :(

Not too sure about progy bdm bands but a progy dm band you could check out is Empyrean Sky.

More straight up brutal death metal bands, I can recommend are - Deafness. If you enjoy early Suffocation, they're a good bet.

Maybe try Sarcolytic (they have John Zig on vocals, guy does artwork for about 90% of bdm albums)

Also you should give Wicked Innocence a go, more old-school but they have the same spacey wierdo/tripping balls quality as Dripping with some really guttural vocals for the time. Though they are definitely a love or loath kind of band.

Personally I would suggest the Omnipotence lp and the Anthropological Infestation demo from 1994.
The demo is more straight-forward and brutal but with added weirdness, Omnipotence is just bizarre and provided it doesn't make you vomit in disgust pretty cool.

Just dont bother with their second Worship as the vocalist basically shit all over it.

(I posted this in the progressive thread also) I'm always looking for new bands/older bands I've never heard of to blow my mind on the progressive/technical metal end, like seriously talented musicians, if anyone can throw some names at me like Meshuggah, Origin, Gorguts, Defeated Sanity kinda stuff...? thank you :D

Shouvince, Augury? LOL, I do like them but come on, they don't fit my request and they're pretty well known.

Sarcolytic was pretty much what I was looking for, thanks. I'll check Wicked Innocence too.

Doesn't fit too many of your requirements, but you should give Skinless' Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead a shot. It's incredibly brutal, but also very accessible and just all around awesome. They were one of the first bands to get me into BDM. Putrid Pile's Blood Fetish should be on your list too. It's a non-stop assault, but very riffy.

Give Purulent Jacuzzi's album Vanished in the Cosmic Futility a shot, it's super-technical death metal (like Brain Drill or Origin) mixed with chunky goregrind grooves and a spacey atmosphere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EFUOjNoKS8

Wormed-like bands, then?

Coprocephalic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZkwyYqR4PE
Inherit Disease: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYoK6DMzP7E

If you can get over their vocals you might get a kick out of Purulent Jacuzzi as well. :)

Coprocephalic? Purulent Jacuzzi? Are you recommending joke bands?

I checked out Wormed, and I liked it for one song's length, after which it got incredibly annoying. I guess I just don't like that kind of brutal death metal. It always gets old so fast.

I personally find that spacey Wormed-type BDM holds up much, much better than other types of technical brutal death metal, like Defeated Sanity for instance. And as far as I know Purulent Jacuzzi (to be fair they're Russian and seem to kind of suck at English) and Coprocephalic are both entirely serious projects - just more typical BDM attempts to push barriers in absurdity, I guess.

Thanks! they are pretty good I guess but not really blowing my mind on some next level shit, if u know what I mean ha :D

but yeah Wormed is another good example ov what Im looking for, along the lines ov Meshuggah, Gorguts, Origin, like really impressive musicians I may be missing out on. cheers!

Yeah figured but I got thrown away by the proggy dm/bdm terms. Since you mentioned Lykathea Aflame, why doesn't Appalling Spawn get as many mentions in the same category? I feel 'Freedom, Hope...' is a great album to revisit.

Antediluvian, Mitochondrion would be my first thoughts, but a band like Ignivomous might be closer to what you're looking for.

I always hear Immolation the most in Dead Congregation's s sound, as well as Drawn and Quartered.

Immolation is my favourite band, and Drawn and Quartered is in my top 10. :)

DC is influenced by both of them, but not plainly derivative of either. DC implements a sense of drama in their music that is, as an idea, similar to Immolation despite sounding very different. They also have those Incantation-based doomy overtones, but they almost solely play in fast tempos. A fairly original band, I'd say.

Looking for foreboding, raw, and atmospheric death metal that makes use of slow/mid-tempo drumming with tremolo guitars. Best example is Innumerable Forms. I already know Incantation; and bands like Mitochondrion/Antediluvian aren't what I'm looking for.

Can someone rec me some catchy, technical death metal albums with a plethora of riffs using pinched harmonics? few things scream death fucking metal more than awesome riffs with excellent pinched harmonics. Thanks in advance

Are you familiar with Iniquity? This album is fairly old by now, but still very, very good - and has pinch harmonics aplenty. Sample some more from this album for more goodness.

To the States now with the fucking brutally awesome Drawn And Quartered. Full-on, assaulting, sightly technical DM, that utilise pinch harmonics. All of their albums are well worth checking out.

That Iniquity album's great, of course, but I think I actually like Five Across the Eyes even more. Brilliant use of pinch harmonics throughout.

Personally I would say start with Let Us Pray and the awesome sophomore, Into Cold Darkness. Forever Underground and Dawn Of The Apocalypse are both good too, but for me the following albums are a bit off.
