Hey guys

I am looking for some thrashing death with a variety of vocal styles, but love the Gruesome Stuff Relish, Carcass and Exhumed type of stuff

Hmmm... thrashing death with minimum of 2 vocal styles... If you know GSR then can I assume you already know about Splatterhouse and the rest of Razorback's heyday roster? Frightmare? Engorged? Fondlecorpse?

Coffin Dust rule and Matt, who does vocals/guitar, actually just got recruited to join Exhumed on bass/vocals so check them out.
http://coffindust.bandcamp.com/album/th ... my-kingdom

Mangled also rule and are definitely influenced by the Carcass/Exhumed sound.
http://borisrecords.bandcamp.com/album/sewer-metal-7

Organ Donor subscribe more to the Florida dm sound but I think you'll dig em.
http://organdonor1.bandcamp.com/

Spewtilator had similarities with the Razorback sound on our fist couple recordings.
http://spewtilator.bandcamp.com/track/grave-digger

Battlemaster doesn't sound like Exhumed but they rule and use a couple different vocal styles.

I prefer cookie monster vocals with chunky fat riffs,i dont mind some blastbeat here and there.

Ran across this album a few days ago and just remembered this request. This is the most impressive release I've heard of new OSDM in quite a while. Straightforward death metal with fat chunky riffs and good vocals.

Good recommendation. I haven't heard of Insepulto.

That's on my list of albums to buy. I've been delving further into OSDM since becoming a fan of Incantation and Drawn and Quartered. I just got Baphomet's "The Dead Shall Inherit."

The Dead Shall Inherit is great. I had it downloaded on my computer and listened a few times and never thought much of it, but then got the CD on a whim and really listened to it and love it now. Check out Banished also http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Banished/3090 if you haven't already.

If you're getting into OSDM there were two really great threads from a while back with tons of excellent recommendations. I don't have them bookmarked but maybe someone can link you to them. I'm sure there's a bunch of ppl that know exactly which two threads I'm referring to, lol.

Yeah Banished is basically Baphomet Pt.2, ha ha. There are really a lot of great underground albums, even more if you take notice of the regional scenes around the world. I'd suggest checking out Autothrall's lists on RYM. There's a lot there to shuffle through. ;)

Good recommendations. I'll check out Banished. Here's the OSDM thread you mentioned. I've looked at it before. There's lots of good music in there.

Great job, I just did a search for it and found the other one:

http://www.metal-archives.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=56969&hilit=old+school+death+metal

So many amazing rec's in both these threads. I forgot about the lists on rate your music, too, androdion. Searching for death metal/old school death metal in the lists section has a lot of goodies too.

There was this project, and I am pretty sure it was a one man melodic death metal thing. They/he released one killer album and it was just balls out, heavy melodic death metal. I think the cover had a dark/reddish color palette, and the logo was sharp looking. I don't remember much about the cover art or tracklisting, but you could order the album from the band at the time.

Any help would be appreciated, I should have bookmarked it then and there.

Maybe his one?

It's very revered around here, though it doesn't do much for me (too melodic).

Not a huge death metal listener so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but are there bands that basically do black metal tremolo riffs with a deeper guitar tone? I'm not interested in black/death metal.

You should probably take a look at the old school Gothenburg bands. You now, the melodeath scene before Slaughter Of The Soul. Try for instance Sacrilege's Lost In The Beauty They Slay, that stuff should be close to what you want (maybe, I'm not sure though).

There should be more bands like that, but unfortunately they are few. Aside from Beverast, I can't think of any right now, though Drawn and Quartered have some songs like that, Worshippers of Absolute Death for example.

I know you said no black/death, but do check out Mythos - Pain Amplifier, you might like it.

My band's upcoming album will have stuff like that. I know it's poor form to advertise your own stuff, especially such that hasn't been released yet, but this is really the extent to which I can help you on this. :(

Nah, that isn't the one. Not a bad album though, but not the one I was thinking of. It was only recent, came out in the last few years and I think the guy looked similar to Joel from Toxic Holocaust. It sounded like early Dismember as well.

Yeah about that, where's my special, deluxe, extra limited, hand numbered, double secret fan edition pre order huh? Seriously though when's the album coming out? I've been wanting a physical copy for a long time now.

Probably not it, but this is all I can think of right now. 2 member band with 2 albums out and one of the dudes looks like Joel of Toxic Holocaust with the punk style, and they play in the vein of Swedish death.

Can anyone give some good recs along the lines of Slugathor or Undergang? Basically really grizzly sounding death metal with some careful amounts of sludge thrown in occasionally.

Desecresy is the easy answer, as it's basically post-breakup Slugathor. There's some old stuff that could serve you up as well, like Rottrevore or Miasma. If you don't mind a bit more of NYDM influence I'd say try Baphomet/Banished as well.

Can anybody point me towards something that uses a similar style to that used on Hate Eternal's Phoenix Amongst the Ashes?

Seconding Rottrevore and Desecresy.

A lot of the Finnish bands like Rippikoulu that I listed could qualify.

Desecresy and Miasma were definitely what I was looking for, thanks guys. I'd listened to Rottrevore a long time ago and didn't think much of them, after listening to some stuff off that Hung by the Eyesockets EP, I've changed my opinion on them.

What are some old-school style bands with very gritty and chunky production, like Wombbath? Deep vocals and a particular focus on riffs and grooves would be a plus. Not looking for slam, though.

I'll have to quote myself here, since I feel these recs are also valid for you:

I'll leave you with this Swedish band. Chunky, gritty groovy death metal with cavernous growls. Also check out the bands I linked in my previous post. They seem to fit your description too.

Hi,

As subject states, looking for more like this. Found Ignis Haereticum recently, which is similar.

Most people here probably know more Metal then me, but I'd like to give something in return, so here's a shot in the dark recommendation: Forest Mysticism: Demo Collections (2006-2011).

Thanks.

Edit: Hmm. Subject's not showing up when I view my post: "Dissonant Tech/Death like Artificial Brain". I guess I should have submitted a new topic rather than a reply to ". Sorry.

No, actually, you did the appropriate thing by posting this question in the death metal thread rather than creating a new topic. Unfortunately that kind of stuff is not exactly my cup of tea, but I'm sure someone will have something for you.

Hi everyone, I want to know if any of you could recommend me some raw, filthy and slimy death metal with a crude and unpolished production? like this:

I'm not exactly versed in death metal so I don't know much, I guess demos should be what i'm looking for but could anybody here point me in the right direction?
