I don't care to hear anyone's negative opinion of her, but I find Chelsea Wolfe's fusion of drone, doom metal, folk, and pop stylization fucking captivating. Particularly her new album, which feels like it has some Burzum-esque black metal (of which I know she is a fan) qualities drenched over it.

Anyone know any similar artists? It's kind of hard to pinpoint her exact sound, since it kinda blends into goth, doom, and dark pop a la Zola Jesus, so I'm not necessarily looking for a specific genre - it can be a doom metal, goth metal, symphonic black metal, or even non-metal with a strong metal influence. I'm just really into that surreal, hazy, highly atmospheric, drone infused sound. Female vocals are a plus but not necessary.

As a side note, I am not looking for commercial pop metal, ie bands like Ghost. I don't mind pop music with metal influences, but part of Wolfe's appeal to me is how well she uses pop music conventions without making her music banally commercial and overproduced.

What about Grouper's "Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill"?

Grouper is great but still not too similar to Chelsea Wolfe...
She's quite unique.

yeah, it's very very hard to find something similar sounding, she's amazingly unique!

I'll try a suggestion: Marriages's latest album Salome. While not too similar to Chelsea Wolfe's music, they share that hazy, bleak and female vocal driven sound on some songs that you may like.. check it out!

A bit more ambient, but very Burzum-esque: Wolves In The Throne Room

Although Locrian doesn't sound much like Chelsea Wolfe I can second them, really good band. Need to pick up their new album soon.
