Haven't managed to find a DSBM-specific thread, so I'm creating a brand new one.

Bombard me with as many recommendations of good DSBM bands (the more underground, the better) as you can, please.

It is preferred for a band to not be classified as anything other than DSBM, but if it is and you feel it's more DSBM than atmospheric black/post-black, for example (like Ghost Bath’s debut), suggest it, too.

I would love getting recommendations of specific songs/albums, but it's not necessary.

The bands I like and have already listened to or plan to listen to:

Make a Change... Kill Yourself
Silencer
Psychonaut 4
Lifelover
Nocturnal Depression
Thy Light
Austere
Xasthur
Suizid
Woods of Desolation
Abyssic Hate
Life Is Pain
Ghost Bath
My Useless Life
Advent Sorrow
Exiled from Light
Hurt
Dismal
Nordicwinter
None
Beyond Melancholy
Deadlife
Autopsy
Abstinence
Silent Path
Begotten
Nymphrenia
Freitod
Sweet Torment
Ter Ziele
Suicidal Inc.
Forgive Me
Strid

The bands I disliked/didn't get into:

Shining
Sterbend
Apati
Anhedonia
Trist
Totalselfhatred
Nyktalgia
Through the Pain
Nihilistum
…When the Darkness Weeps

Looking forward to your replies! :)

I don't listen to DSBM a lot, but I'll name some bands I really enjoy (underground bands ofc)

Decallius :

Consider the Following: Suicide :

And lastly, Kuthran (these guys made a 4-way split with Decallius, Depression & Alone, so I'll send the split if u want to check the other bands)

Tell me what u think bro

I encourage you to check out what many consider to be the creators of the DSBM scene, Norway's Strid. Their one EP from 1994 is incredibly morose.

I have heard of them, of course, but never really checked them out. Will do, thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks again for the suggestion, both the demo and the EP are awesome, especially "Det hviskes blant sorte vinder".

I don't listen to DSBM as often anymore, but here are a few lesser known releases I always enjoyed.

Which are the most important albums of this genre? Never listened to this, my black metal is Mayhem, Gorgoroth and Impaled Nazarene, not a clue what you guys are up to. The most depressive album that ive heard is Alice In Chains' Unplugged.

Iam a depressed metalhead so maybe this will be my cup of tea.

I'd say the really foundational stuff is STRID's demo/EP and early BETHLEHEM, let's say all the 90's stuff. you'll have to see for yourself which of these will work best for you.
my personal favorite from the subgenre is SHINING's debut album for sure.

You could try ACEDI from Denmark.

I was always fond of Krohm. Both "A World Through Dead Eyes" and "The Haunting Presence" were fantastic.

I also really liked Wedard

Good to see Brulvahnatu mentioned above. A real blast from the past of Myspace days!

Edit:
Ah man, this post sent me off on a nostalgic trip through DSBM, and I rediscovered Veil. They were probably my favourite of that whole scene.

Lichtblick, at least their first album
https://lichtblick.bandcamp.com/album/phrenesis

Unjoy
https://waragainstyourself.bandcamp.com ... s-life-end

Vyrju, with Tim Yatras as session musician
https://vyrju.bandcamp.com/album/black

Also this instrumental from Apostolum is impressive, too bad the rest of the album isn't up to par.

I would definitely recommend the Likho project.

His current album:
