Non-racist, right-wing-themed metal is such a funny category to me. I guess you could think of stuff like Megadeth, Metallica, and Pantera.
I'm not so sure that the conservative-type guy listens to a lot of music. To be honest, most moderate right-wing guys that I know don't care that much for art. It's part of the right-wing mindset that you think of art and other forms of expression as not being productive in a capitalist society. I really don't know many bands that talk about free market economies, conservative values, and Christian religion and advocate a distaste for workers unions or governments involved in the economy. Such a random request, man.
I know this is an old post, and I don't want to get involved with the earlier argument but I do want to add that this is incredibly false. I lean conservative on a number of issues, moderate on others. I wouldn't be here if music wasn't an incredibly important part of my life, but more importantly I'll also add that I'm a member of some other traditionally right leaning websites- mostly firearm related stuff- and there's constant discussion about music there too. Not as in depth as here obviously, being a music-centric website but tons of guys in bands, vinyl collectors, concert-goers, etc.
Even capitalists enjoy art, often quite deeply and it's an odd thing to claim otherwise.
The relationship between conservatives and metal has been weird for a long time, remember the days of right-wing Christians in the 80s and 90s and the cries in the sky about satanism in metal, it's ok if you vote for Donald Trump and listen to metal but most guys that defend that kind of mindset don't give two shits about art, they want to make money, praise the bible and listen to country or some stuff like that. I give Metallica the right-wing pass, with all the Don't Thread on Me and the Gadsen Snake flag, and Mustaine is also a crazy Alex Jones fan, but that's about it for republican stuff and metal.
Also, I made fun of both right-wing and left-wing people in my previous posts, and mostly left-wing guys got mad at me, so I think I struck a nerve with that silly joke. As for me, I am neither, I am a Peronist.
I don't really care about you making fun of both, that's why I didn't comment on it.
I'm saying you're wrong about right wing folks and art, I know, because I live with those folks and interact with them all the time and have for 40 years. A fwe things to remember:
There's a lot of right wing folks that are not Christian, and there's a lot that are, but aren't "fundies".
There's a lot of right wing folks that are sick of Trump's shit too. (Some polls show almost half of Republicans didn't want Trump to run this year).
There's a lot of right wing folks that hate country and grew up on metal, and love various types of art.
You're lumping together a bunch of people as being the same when they're not.
I know this seems to mess up your world view, but you're simply wrong. Art speaks to a lot of people, capitalists, commies, etc, doesn't matter. Your claim that they only care about making money and don't give a shit about art is simply a symptom of your own bias.
Edit- interestingly, I'm a member of one of the largest firearm forums on the internet- hundreds of thousands of members, with thousands active at ay time. On the front page
right now you can find threads with the following topics:
How AI art is ruining real art
Advice for kids starting a band
Best black female vocalists
A thread about beautiful vocals
Favorite instrumental music
On a more anecdotal note, I grew up in a Republican house. My mother was a singer good enough to tour Europe in the 60s with a singing group. I grew up listening to her sing and play musicals like Phantom of the Opera and Les Mis. My dad is less musically inclined, but still introduced me to some classical music and Roy Orbison and Elvis. My sister also sings and writes incredible poetry (has been published). We are all avid readers as well.
Of my two best friends who are politically similar to me, one is a drummer (Rush is his favorite band) and the other plays guitar and we go to local shows together.
You may want to do some introspection about your biases.
