Hi I'm new here.
I'd like some suggestions for female fronted bands like Sins In Vain , Antonamasia or Aeranea ( can anyone tell me if a can find the lyrics for their songs anywhere , i've searched here and couldn't find ) or something like Evanescence , We Are The Fallen and Noctura. Hope to get some answers so thanks in advance.

Nightwish, Within Temptation, The Gathering, Lacuna Coil. That's all I can think of right now.

Try those:
Celestial Wish, Purple Nail, Sirenia, Elessar, Crimson Rivers, Ignea, Tears of Magdalena, Mortal Love, Armonight (first & second albums), Circle Unbroken, Mandragora Scream, Delain, Epica, Revamp, Coronatus, Trophallaxy (now known as Dysrider), Cross Vein, Asriel, Alieson, Shoujo Byou, Edenbridge, Onyria, Blackbriar, Aeverium (both male and female fronted), Auracle (same as previous), Prima Nocte, Annatar, Tezaura, Sleeping Romance, Noxiferis, Yajima Mai and Mutum.

All of them fall beyond the power/gothic/symphonic style, I hope you like them and that is what you are looking for.

I'm working on two sites at the moment. One site has a list of some of the good ones. There are links to listen from A-C but the band names are there and you can look them up. The site is

www.minervasportal.com

My other site has a huge list of bands which I am still working on. I have gone through like 70,000-80,000 bands on Metal Archives to put this list together and am still working on it. Both sites are a progress in work, but they should at least get you started.

Some really good recs so far - definitely seconding Draconian, Theatre of Tragedy, Mortal Love, Blackbriar and Aeverium. I'd also add Leaves' Eyes, Insatia, Imperia and Daemon Lost. Again all of them are symphonic/power/gothic. I feel like I should know more, but all that's coming to mind are a bunch of death/doom bands with occasional female vocals :p

Dawn of Destiny and maybe Inishmore are two more.

Edit: Echoes of Eternity

Diamanda Galás. Not metal, not a band, but this woman has inspired a lot of metal. Samples of her music have been used by Behemoth (Pol)
in their latest gigs. Oh and she has been a featured singer for Rotting Christ in Aealo and for some black metal french band I dont remember.

try Rain Fell Within. A nice goth band without the cheese almost inherent to the genre

Oh and Astarte, the whole band consisted of girls before they disbanded, but they left several good records, specially their last two ones.

Nowadays a tribute band exists with the deceased guitarrist/vocalist's widowed groom replacing his dead wife.

Check also some new bands that I discover recently: Elfica, Helion Prime, Visionatica, Mysterya, AnsoticcA, Forever Slave, Demencia Mortalis and Midnight Eternal. This last one vocalist haves a very interesting voice, she sounds like pop/rock/disco singers directly from the 70's and 80's. The band's own music also resembles very well that specific style.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Flowing Tears. Their sound was almost identical to the style that Aeranea play now. The band's early work had more influences from doom metal and depressive rock, whereas their later stuff was straight up gothic metal.

Ava Inferi was an incredible gothic/doom metal band. The vocals and guitar lines were smooth as silk, with a very clean, professional sound to their performances. They may be a bit gloomier than what you have in mind, but they are definitely worth checking out regardless.

There are also plenty of awesome doom metal bands that are led by talented female singers, such as Windhand, Witch Mountain, Rose Kemp, and many, many others. However, if we were to just stick to gothic bands, those two bands mentioned above are definitely what I would suggest.

Just remembered another female-led Power Metal band: Oratory.

Divine Ascension - Liberator is arguably the best power/prog album of the past 3-4 years and it's female fronted.
