I'd like to know what bands out there that cross over heavy metal and hard rock, one good example being Crobot.

Don't you mean Probot and not Crobot?

I also wouldn't really say they are Hard Rock at all...but rather each track on their album reflects the metal band and style of the band member who plays on it.

As for answers, I know I've got a couple on the tip of my tongue but they aren't coming to mind so I'll have to think about it.

I guess in some ways you might kind of say Motorhead, although they are still clearly an old school metal band.

Wouldn't this just apply to pretty much any early heavy metal band? Like Rainbow for example.

Or are you looking for more modern examples? I feel like you should keep an eye on this topic if that's the case... viewtopic.php?f=11&t=109080

Not sure what exactly you're looking for, but this might be in the right direction.

I am looking for modern examples, but the first two in that thread are stoner rock bands, which I'm not looking for. The band in the last two don't sound like rock at all, though they are influenced by the NWOBHM movement. One good example of what I'm looking for is the Italian band, Bad Bones. They combine hard rock and heavy metal in their sound wonderfully.

No, but seriously, I know what you mean now. I'm just not really into that sort of stuff so cant recommend anything. Unless you're somehow not familiar with Clutch? But even they might be a bit outside what you're after.

This band actually started as a glam rock band in the late '80s, but then came back for the new millennium with a harder sound mixing power metal with lots of Deep Purpleisms and synths:

Would also like to see modern equivalents of bands like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Rainbow.

You'll definitely want to check out the High Spirits track I posted then.

Already did, it was quite good.

Also, another band of this sort is Dangerous Toys.

Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell. Heirs of Budgie you could say.

Bible of the Devil. One of the modern equivalents of Thin Lizzy and Deep Purple as you've mentioned.

Try Blood of the Sun, they're more on the hard rock side though.

H.E.A.T is a modern glam band from Sweden. Their vocalist, Erik Gronwall, won the Swedish Idol in 2009.

SunStrike is another modern glam band from Sweden. They're kind of a mix of glam and power metal. If you're familiar with Danger Danger, they're similar to them.

Crashdiet is a glam band from... Sweden!

Santa Cruz is a glam band from Finland. These guys are so glam it's not even funny.
