Not happy cheesy melodeath or power metal... Examples would be songs like "Gaia Tellus" by Rotting Christ and "Chant for Eschaton" by Behemoth, or albums like Persefone's "Spiritual Migration" or Samael's "Solar Soul". Songs/Albums that are brutal and aggressive while still retaining an upbeat, energizing sound.

Any help much appreciated.

In Dread Response are really extreme melodeath with some awesome soaring solos. This whole album is pretty melancholic but there's some feel good moments and not in the cheesy way.

While I don't have any rec, it intrigues me the recent interest in uplifting or upbeat extreme metal this community is displaying.

If you are willing to give them a listen, Arghoslent have a lot of uplifting sounding melodies. Particularly Hornets Of The Pogrom.
