I have recently listened to the masterpiece that is "Hin" from the band Trist. This song's opening will make you feel like you're drifting into the nothingness of space and is beautiful. It puts me in a trance and helps me relax or go to sleep. I would like to find other music similar to this. Here is the song to help you out. I would recommend listening to the entire hour as it is amazing.

I have recently acquired an interest in this type of music, and so far I have found a lot of beautiful songs, more beautiful than any other genre...

I definitely have to recommend Alrakis, especially his song from the upcoming album. It will IMO be the most deeply emotional album for whatever year it will be released in.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkF7yCPp5tM&hd=1

Then there is Nychts, which is probably one of the most ambitious projects in black metal, I have ever heard. Most of his songs does not sound like floating in space, but is related.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJEel54LT0E&hd=1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjOxXI2Lsyw&hd=1

There is also M20, from Alrakis' 2011 record, Alpha Eri. That was what got me into spaceinspired black metal.z

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHtN3jOkp90&hd=1

Then his most "spacey" stuff. It is almost impossible to sleep to, though. It is is still one monumental song.

I won't post more. I can only disappoint you with other bands.

Probably way too obvious, but Darkspace is great. For something a bit doomier (and a lot more stoned), Black Hell's sophomore record gives that drifting through the nebulas vibe. Oranssi Pazuzu's debut should also promptly be checked out.

First of all, "Hin" by Trist is mediocre at best.

But I digress. When I want to listen to a lot of spacey stuff, I don't listen to metal at all. I mainly go for Tangerine Dream's Alpha Centauri or Klaus Schulze's first two albums. Or Lustmord's The Place Where the Black Stars Hang if I want something darker, even if it is much more minimalist.

There is no better "space black metal" album than Hin in space, though.

 Not with an hour long piece that goes nowhere and contains like three distinct riffs at most.

Shameless plug, but try the last two tracks, Space I and Space II. The music AND the lyrics.

Yeah, that's the idea. The extremely minimalist approach portraits the infinite emptiness of space perfectly, better than the arrangations of Darkspace or Alrakis. Secondly, not only Trist got the idea of space black metal right, the execution is pefect: the few motives are great, the production and small interruptions in the sea of repetition are why this isn't try hard piece of wanna be art. The structure of the track is almost ideal too, I would like more if the initial ambient opening was shorter.

Already been said but I'd recommend also Darkspace. Cold Body Radiation - Deer Twillight I find relaxing & easy to drift away to.
Not black metal but my own project Orbis style of music Drone N' Void samples - https://soundcloud.com/orbis

Almagest have only released two metal songs to date, but they're both pretty spacey. They play a tastefully atmospheric combo of BM and funeral doom.

Vemod's latest is amazing ethereal, droney, spacey black metal. The 3rd track is ambient and might further the vibe you're looking for. The 4th is instrumental too. So if you're not sold on the first two songs definitely give it a complete listen.

Nope, in fact despite being about space Star One isn't really the kind of music that makes you feel like you're drifting in space.

This on the otherhand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4M7Wq8jVmpA

If you shut your eyes and aren't suddenly compelled to imagine yourself floating through space at thirty thousand times the speed of light toward the center of the Milky Way, you just might have a poor imagination. :p

Bonus points if you hear the voice of Carl Sagan.
