I was thinking of picking up maybe either 'The Grand Grimoire' or 'Bloody Blasphemy,' though I may just wind up going with whatever's cheapest. I know these guys are (or used to be) one of the bigger names in Euro death metal, but I've just happened to overlook them.

It really doesn't matter. God Dethroned haven't made a bad album. Personally, I like Lair of the White Worm the best.

Looking at the prices on Amazon, and thinking of how broke I am right now, I think I've narrowed it down to either 'LOTWW,' 'Grand Grimoire,' or 'Toxic Touch.' Thanks for the suggestion though.

Cant comment of whether it's necessarily their best or not, but the first I bought and listened to back in the day was Ravenous. It's a good album and I think a good introduction to the band. If it's out of the above you listed though, I'd go with The Grand Grimoire.

I don't have a goddamn clue, they're all great in their own way. Really, you could just get any one of them and you'd still get quality extreme metal.

like others have said, they're all good, but they're also quite different - the early albums are rather on the raw side of things, while the later ones are really clean, so maybe think of which kind you'd want and go by that

I recently listened to their whole discography...my opinion is that Bloody Blasphemy is the best early album and Passiondale is the best newer one, but most are worth getting. Last I checked, some of their stuff was on sale at indiemerch.

I've recently become partial to Ravenous. Seems like it often gets overlooked in their discography, but it's the best blend of their old black/death sound with a hint of the over-the-top melodicism that made lair of the White Worm and Into the Lungs of Hell (also a top contender) such great albums

Each of their albums offer something different and I'm a huge fan of theirs. I hope to complete my GD collection soon too.

From that list of 3 albums, I'd say go for 'Grand Grimoire'.

'The Grand Grimoire' is my favorite one and the one I return to the most.

I know the one I don't care about is the Toxic Touch. the rest are good but the first 4 albums are better than those later on.

Basically everything up to and including Ravenous, and then their final two WWI themed albums. Never cared for their early-mid 2000's stuff myself. Didn't capture the energy of the early work and the riffs definitely weren't as energetic or engaging. Passchendale and Under the Sign... more or less bring that energy back but with a more melodic dm approach. The riffs are massive and plentiful and the drumming is absolutely outstanding.

'Grand Grimoire' it is, then. What I've heard of it is fucking relentless, almost sounding like a deathier Marduk in spots.

The Grand Grimoire is also the one I'd prefer over the others.
