The title really says it all! I'm looking for some bands with prominent bass playing, a black metal Pavor would be ideal, hahaha! I'm not picky at all, so send whatever you think fits, I know Necromantia though!! Thanks dudes and dudettes!!

Try this hugely epic track by Deathspell Omega. Bass-heavy creepiness.

Wrest uses the bass pretty prominently (and quite uniquely) in 10th Sublevel and Tentacles of Whorror by Leviathan. Also I was just recently listening to a project called Ironwood who play folkish black metal. Their bassist is really good. There are a few songs by them where its pretty high in the mix and is easily better than the guitars and drums around it.

I always seem to mention Njiqahdda in reccs, but they fit the bill yet again! The bass on a lot of their songs sounds very different from 'typical' bass in other black metal bands (if there is such a thing). I'd describe it as sort of "clicky" but it sounds great and is mixed well.

Just listened to Carpathian Forest's "Morbid Fascination of Death" today, what about that one? The bass is pretty audible.

Lord Belial's first album has got some nice basslines, this one for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRCqdKVFfrQ
Truppensturm is pretty bassy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DY6c54VcI8
Check out this Nagelfar song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yse0DBRu9N8

Damn I'm always recommending the same bands...

Oh you guys fucking kill!!! I'm loving everything! Does anyone know a band from I believe California, bassist plays a fretless six string. I can't think of the name to save my life, but they're awesome!

Barathrum has a bunch of prominent bass. You can't really go wrong with their 3 albums Eerie, Legions of Perkele, and Infernal

Looked through some more of my stuff and came up with:

Kvist - Forbannet Vaere Jorden Jeg Går På
Sorhin - I Det Glimrande Mörkets Djup
Gehenna - Lord of Flies <-- Pretty standard bass playing but it's nice and audible, definitely adds to the music.

Maybe not as much bass as Barathrum but solid nonetheless.

HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Kvist. You'd be hurting yourself if you didn't check them out.

When you say PAVOR, do you mean prominence like both in final mix loudness AND technical proficiency?

Anyway, some random stuff from my current playlist with some sort of bass prominence (youtube links):
- Scarificare "Sword" - Everything this guys make generally has a reasonably audible distorted bass and sometimes adding some dynamic to the song. This is one's a good example in my opinion.
- Furia "Idzie Zima" - Same (or better) than the above-mentioned band. Mind you, they normally drown the bass in a blast-beat wall of sound in most of the other songs, but this one is slower than the average and kinda has some progressive-ish touches to it...
- Göatfukk "Nocturnal Guidance" - These guys just have to have bass presence due to their crustier orientation. And though most of the more "crustier" modern black metal bands do normally have a very present bass sound, sometimes it's not as balanced as this one (distortion vs. clarity)

Heh I actually came here also to recommend Necromantia. Instead of guitar they use 8-string bass for riffing.

Defuntos from Portugal may be of interest. Gloomy Black/Doom with a vaguely similar feel to early Burzum, created just with bass and drums.

My friend! Try to get this album! Annthennath - States of Liberating Departure! This is one of the best bands I have heard in my life! Excellent bass lines! The bass is present all the time!
An example! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdjkLu7dFxY

Shameless self-promotion... my bassist Craig is a pure lead bassist in our melodic bm band Hoarfrost. He puts the rest of us to shame, truly. Here's a link to a live song, we're hoping to have an album out by the end of the year.... http://youtu.be/QnQz_Rjz4nA
