Eternium is a young band formed by Markov Soroka in 2011, he played all the instruments and released the first demo in 2012 and after he got a full lineup, they released their first full length titled "Repelling a Solar Giant" on Blast Head Records back in September. Their genre is a good mix of symphonic and melodic black metal à la Emperor and a huge dose of Swedish melodic death/black à la Sacramentum. They have long songs, intricate arrangements and a shitload of poetic, conceptual lyrics. My fellow moderatot BastardHead and I wrote reviews for their album and it's a very good debut! Fans of melodic modern metal should check them out.

That song's pretty cool, actually. I might have to check the whole thing out.

It's a good album. It's good enough that it's in the league with some legendary bands, at which point you start noticing reasons why it's not quite Sacramentum quality.

I feel we have some Freaky Friday-variety Markoving here. I wonder if Tony is somewhere in California, trapped in the body of a poor, egocentric Slav, desperately wishing to return to the original vessel...

Definitely miles apart from the demo, although I can't say I'm very excited about it. Sorry Markov, just not my cup of tea. It's pretty professional and the production seems very promising. As for the songwriting, well, as I said it's more of a case of liking that particular style so I won't comment further.

And no, Sacramentum this is not.

Damn Tony, you're markoving Markov's band hard. Eternium is decent for sure, but Slow is where it's at.

I'm actually glad you posted this because I "Liked" the Facebook page some time ago, but for some reason FB elected to not show any of the posts in my news feed. I had to click under the options to make the posts show. I was ignorantly going along thinking the page was just a fan page or not even being updated.

Markoving in its highest level

It's funny cause Tony is always making fun of me for being slow.

As much as I like Markov, I feel like the album loses a fair bit of momentum when it's building up for its symphonic, epic sections and blasting parts. That being said, it's pretty cool for what it is (Dissection clone stuff).

Flawless victory.

This is pretty good, I'm looking forward to their next. I'll be disappointed if it doesn't have lyrics about Slavic neo-Nazism set to Indonesian folk music.
