Post subject:  Your favorite cassette / analog labels?

Just now finally getting into tapes now that a proper cassette deck is coming my way. I'm super excited to pick up the Recluse demo (Phil McSorely / Mike Meacham) which is supposedly coming out on Graceless (and hopefully available at the Cobalt show in Brooklyn.

I'm into drone, experimental/black/death.. anything from Arvo Part to Portal, Aosoth etc etc.

Can you recommend your other fave analog/cassette labels?

The only tape label I support is my friend's called Tapes of a Neon God and it's only cause I'm friends with him. other than that... I hate tapes. I have a bunch of his and have never taken the plastic wrap off them. he releases some good stuff though.

More a distro but Analog Worship usually has a decent selection though he mostly focuses on black/death bands.

Fallen Empire Records is an amazing label/distro for tapes and records: http://fallenempirestore.bigcartel.com/
Eternal Warfare is also great: http://eternalwarfare.org/
Deserts, out of New Mexico, is another favorite of mine. Quality black metal, doom, and drone. The new releases coming from this label should be excellent: http://desert-records.blogspot.com/

And if you can find any of the tapes they released, Woodsmoke/Special Low Frequency put out some awesome tapes. Special Low Frequency is all ambient/drone stuff, and Woodsmoke did doom, black metal, dark ambient, drone, etc. Good luck finding any of it though.

Contaminated Tones is a small label/distro that releases mostly tapes and has a small distro with some great tapes. Full disclosure, I write for the CTP zine but Jon handles the label alone, and he does a hell of a job. Very small distro but he keeps good quality control over what he sells.

I second Fallen Empire, a lot of quality releases by that label. And Analog Worship is a good distro. Not necessarily tape based labels, but Dark Descent and Nuclear War Now generally have a lot of good, cheap tapes. Winter Solace is a pretty highly regarded tape distro that mostly specializes in black metal, although the guy who runs it can be a little...strict with his no bullshit policy. Maybe also try out Crucial Blast, lots of noise/industrial influenced metal tapes.

Forgot about Contaminated Tones. I've only ordered from them once, but the releases were great quality and Jon was great with regards to communication and shipping. Definitely seconded.

First off I'm going to have to recommend my own label: Tridroid Records

The only one that has not listed already would be The Northern Cold Productions from Canada. It is a smaller label that put out some killer Death, Doom, Black Metal releases.

Also can recommend all of Metal Squad Records releases. I believe that most of their releases get stocked/ are stocked by Dark Decent or HHB. So price is not a problem

Nice bands too, Black Chalice is pretty damn good. I need to review Master Fury as well.

Yeah, I really like the Black Chalice tape, I got the last copy he had. Gates of Eternal Torment is a cool tape.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It's greatly appreciated and I'm happy to hear that people have enjoyed the releases. KEEP ON TRUCKING!

Tony, Analog, I'm doing the next black chalice tape as we speak now. It's quite excellent.

Hair On My Food is really the only label I "collect", but it happens to be because I genuinely really enjoy the stuff they release.
that said, they only have a handful of Grind/Metal releases. They specialize mostly in harsh Noise and Noisecore.

I'm also pretty fond of a lot of the stuff Seedstock releases/distributes. Lots of "Punky"/Raw BM.
