I still need to give a proper listen to his recent albums, although I liked what I heard, pretty good melodic and energetic stuff I'd expect from him. I remember Mullmuzzler 2 pretty well though and I enjoyed it a lot.

Anyway, will definitely check it out.

Though I'm not into Dream Theater, I love Soilwork, so I liked this a lot. Nice to see Wichers is still active, though I'd still prefer him coming up with a new band rather than taking songwriting duties for other projects (as good as these might be).

I liked some of the songs from his previous album but nothing really stood out to me. I remember seeing an interview with Petrucci saying that Labrie is more into pop music than metal so I'm surprised he continues to make metal music. I will probably check this out but my expectations are not high.

I've only heard Elements of Persuasion but I do think his new melodeath direction is rather interesting. That song sounded pretty nifty though I don't know if I'll be checking this out in its entirety.

Hm? I remember some stuff (e.g. James' favourite 2012 albums list) from him, there definitely was quite a bit of metal or generally heavier stuff there, even though not necessarily the "true pure metal" type. I've generally had the impression everyone in the band goes in pretty various directions taste-wise, but there always is some metal in the centre of it all.

Elements of Persuasion is modern rock but it's got some pretty kickass songs like "Drained" and "Slightly Out of Reach". This new melodic death angle I didn't like on the previous album. The harsh vocals in particular stunk. Haven't heard this new album but seeing it here makes me want to hear the Mullmuzzler stuff instead.
