The Album cover - What/Who do you think it personifies or represents?

I thought it was a symbolic representation of how the majestic empire of concrete and steel crumbles as humanity declines and fades away.

"Majestic in presence, a guise to betray"

It looks majestic, but really it's already crumbling. There are some warlike themes in the lyrics ("Worn away by years of conflict", " Banners of hate for all to see"), but other than that it seems to suggest a slow but inevitable decline, like the fall of Rome, but in the hands of a "plague of madness", or a "vile disturbance".

... I guess those are the two extremes in thought. Somewhere between these two ideas, the truth about the album artwork lies. Probably a little closer to the former, but that's just one fellows opinion.

*ahem*

I actually thought Majesty and Decay's art was literal enough for people to understand what it meant. Seemed kinda obvious to me.

I'm thinking separation of church and state, or lack thereof, since it is reminiscent of the Lincoln statue but the guy quite obviously has a crown and a wound in his abdomen, so Jesus Lincoln? Or even just a criticism of restrictive governing bodies, that's my take.

One of Par Olofsson's more thought provoking album covers, though not one his more colourful, "in your face" types. I don't know if he had the album title in mind somehow, but it definitely does represent the concepts of majesty and decay. It's about mighty empires having their time of glory before deteriorating into ruin.

Majesty is always in disguise.

very interesting theory!

although I noticed it had an additonal War theme from seeing Epoch aswell, but mostly from reading the lyrics, it's pretty persuasive

At first I thought it was a pope figure sitting on a throne, but he has souls inside him so he must be evil and shit. I was like "Oh commme oooon Immolation! Beating the dead religion horse 7 times in a row wasn't enough?" Then I realized that the real pope wears an oversized tortilla hat instead of a crown, so fuck me I don't know.

I agree. It's pretty straightforward.
It would be like Iron Maiden's "A Matter of Life and Death" being called "Religion and War".

uh...this is a an opinion of discussion after all (sorry if I DIDN'T BOTHER to add that in advance), and it isn't a pointless gig having fun on threads such as this just reading other people's shared analogies...unless you're condescending and would think so, I mean if curious...than maybe people want abit more incentive on the artwork and maybe you should respect that...

It is pretty much "what you see is what you get", though. It's a sufficiently literal album cover that one shouldn't be upset by someone saying so.
