Austrailia's Encirlcing Sea have just released their 3rd album and it is an excellent release indeed. The band are very unheard of and one I have only discovered very recently but I admit it did not take much to convince me to go ahead and order a copy of the cd (very limited to 100, will also be released on vinyl) and I am glad I did. Listening to the album reminds of bands like Altar of Plagues or Alda and then some, black/doom/sludge/post, it is all there all wrapped it a wonderful atmosphere and it all works so well. Check out the opening track (three of the four tracks are around the 20min mark) and see what you think, I doubt the physical copies will last long if any of you are intereted.

I myself am enjoying this quite alot (as one or two of you know ;) ) though I am not familiar with the previous two releases, I believe they both consist of one single, long track.

I had this release in my list of most anticipated albums of 2013 and I am not disappointed. It is phenomenal, and easily their best work which is saying something because Ecru was very very good on its own. This is far more "black-metal" oriented than their last two, but that's not a bad thing because that is where the project shines, imo. Sadly I don't have the money for the physical release, but if it's still around when I do I'll be snagging one up. This will probably make my year end list. Its that good.

I can se this making my end of year list also and with releases such as this 2013 has got off to a flying start so my list could end up pretty big... Will have to check out Ecru when I am done absorbing this one.

Yeah I think you will enjoy it SP, it has plenty of variety. I forgot to mention that the 3rd track is an entire acoustic number which was a bit of a surprise compared to the tracks before hand, it sperates the album perfectly especially considering the track lengths.

Me too, I have so much stuff on my radar I don't know if I am coming or going, not a bad complaint to say the least.

Cool, I remember their second album being really good. It sounded a lot more doomy than the song that was posted here. I enjoyed the song, I'll probably get around to listening to the album.

its a great thing to be able to complain about

Encircling Sea remind me of adrift for days in some ways so i am unsure if you know adrift for days but you might enjoy them, maybe they just remind me of each other because they are both a bit strange

Will have to check this out it sounds awesome . I often wonder how aussie's come up with such dark atmospheric music when it's sunny everyday and the chicks look amazing and are plentiful .

Another Aussie band to be proud of.
