How about a little what-if game? If you could arrange a tour (or one-off festival, whatever) with 4 thrash bands other than Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer, whom would you invite? And I'm not putting any of those bands down, it's just for fun.

They can be themed (from the same country, bands with female musicians, etc) or just your various favourites. Only limit is that all 4 bands must play thrash metal at some point in their careers.
For me, I'd love to see a Canadian Legends Tour, featuring:

Infernäl Mäjesty
Razor
Sacrifice
Voivod

The proto-death tour:

Slayer
Possessed
Sepultura
Kreator

80's material only!

For me, a Big 4 of thrash (specifically Death/Thrash) would have to be:
Kreator
Sadus
Sepultura
Possessed

For Black/Thrash:
Sodom
Venom
Destruction
Nifelheim

Obviously, we're talking about the early output from these bands.

"The Commercial Big 4 are shit tour" with:

Sadus
Dark Angel
Demolition Hammer
Holy Terror

Sadus and Dark Angel would co headline, Demolition Hammer would open and Holy Terror would play Mind Wars in its entirety.

I've always felt that Exodus, Overkill, Testament, and Metal Church needed to make their own Big 4. Maybe put Death Angel in there when the situation calls for it.

Onslaught (Power From Hell-era), Hellhammer/Celtic Frost(Satanic Rites/Morbid Tales-era), Bathory (Self-titled/The return/Under the sign-era), Venom (Black Metal-era)

I would call it "Satan's Proto-Black Party".

Well, i dunno how this line up would work but i guess it would be like....

Vektor playing their two albums completely.
Dark Angel kicking arses with a full performance of Darkness Descends.
Celtic Frost with their early blackish material
and then, closing the event, Venom.

I wouldnt mind a technical stage too...

Watchtower
Heathen
Coroner
Toxik

THAT WOULD BE COMPLETE MADNESS!
I SHALL ORGANIZE SAID EVENT SOMEDAY!

I don't care if that show was in Antarctica, I would be there.

I guess my fab four fantasy would be something of an 80's semi-reunion theme...

Toxik
Atrophy
Wargasm
Nuclear Assault with Anthony Bramante

Prog thrash!!!!

Annihilator
Mekong Delta

Dream Theater

Dream Theater would play TRAIN OF THOUGHT in its entirety and open the show. Watchtower would close.

Kreator
Exodus
Testament
Destruction

There are a lot of these "2nd tier" thrash bands that would be big draws. I don't know why they haven't organized something like this. They could alternate bands and keep it going forever.

Forgive me for de-railing but did Suicidal Tendencies not fill in on one of those 'thrash of the titan' shows? And Alice In Chains open?

My memory is a bit foggy

I can't pick 4, so I'll have to have 2 stages, and oldies and a newbies stage:

Vio-Lence
Mekong Delta
Exhorder
Anacrusis
----------------
Vektor
Hexen
Sauron (US)
Nekromantheon

That would be sweet, but I think my dream lineups would change practically every day...

Guys, I'm sure the thread would be much less boring if you wrote more than four bands names and called it a day.

Now, if I had to choose which bands would go on tour, I'd have to go with Vektor, Artillery, Toxik, and Voivod, playing precisely in that order. Vektor are a new yet very talented thrash band, and they would be terrific openers. Artillery and Toxik would really complement each other, being both highly melodic and technical, yet in different ways; Artillery is kind of like Iron Maiden trying to play early Megadeth songs, while Toxik is just all around crazy awesome. And Voivod..... Well, everything after their first two records barely qualifies as thrash, but fuck that. They're bloody pioneers, and they deserve to headline a tour.

It would be cool to see big four of thrash/power, something like:

Artillery
Heathen
Savage Messiah
Paradox

Testament, Dark Angel, Exodus, Forbidden. That's who I'd do a secondary Big 4 tour with.
