Yeah, I'm buying this.

On a related note, is the new Queens Of The Stone Age worth getting?

Totally, great album albeit not as a immediate and heavy as the others, it's a grower really.

Nah, I heard about 5 songs from it and they were all pretty much terrible, avoid like the plague.

Stoner Metal has evolved way too far for a new guy like to enjoy older stuff like this I guess. Same reason why some people enjoy Mayhem but couldn't get into Venom I presume.

...What the hell are you smoking? If anything it's the other way around, most people who get into underground music are introduced through older bands and "classics".

What Ghenghis said. I got into stoner through older bands and worked backwards. Unless I live in an active scene that is physically developing, thne I would probably had the chance to grow with the genre. I got into stoner through traded CDs and I was way deep into other genres so I didn't bother to check progression of something alien to me.

I think a lot of people discover stuff that way too, especially the younger generations.

Here's a preview of all the tracks from the album, it's due out September 2 in (most) of Europe and September 3 for North America. I'm really excited about this one!

Edit: I also have to say that Dargona Dragona is the only track that I found John Garcia's voice sounding a bit strained on. Other than that, everything is sounding great. I also want to point out that the guitar on quite a few of these tracks remind me quite a bit of Brant Bjork's solo project, which is more than welcome. What are your guys' thoughts?

(Re-edited multiple times because I'm tired and my grammar sucks.)

I quite liked it, not sure exactly how much yet, but it pretty much plays through the big book of Kyuss ideas and executes them well. My only real concern that every time I remember Homme isn't in the band it feels really plagerised, even though I fully accept that's the whole point and the reason that its good. I am conflicted haha.

The album is streaming in full here. I have yet to listen, I'm not at home at the moment. Also, apparently the vocals is Dargona Dragona sound the way they do because John Garcia sang through a microphone that Jim Morrison once used.

Hm, giving it a listen right now. It's not very Kyuss-y in my eyes, simply because Kyuss to me is defined by the sound of the Welcome to Sky Valley-era lineup. It's more of a rock and roll album than the previous Kyuss works, and Josh Homme's non-involvement definitely figures heavily into this. The vibe I'm getting from this album is that of a heavier, more technical Brant Bjork album. I'm really not surprised by that and it's quite welcome, honestly. I dig it so far, what do you guys think?

I thought it was certainly Kyuss-y enough, maybe not quite as fuzzed out and thick in the guitars, and the lead psychedelia jams are much less impressive, but I felt the riffs had a very similar style and groove.

I got mine in the mail yesterday. Anyone else received theirs? I was a bit confused, as to why it's not on their page yet, but I assume that's the reason?

I'm really digging it so far. Sweet Remain has an absolutely fantastic main riff, and I think they keep the quality high all through the record.
I agree that it doesn't sound as they did back in the 90's, but I don't think it's necessarily for the worse. I'd be more disappointed if they actually tried to recreate Homme's guitars rather than going for their own sound.

Really dig this. Reminds me of the older stuff mixed with Brant Bjork's solo stuff.

I think the songs sound way better in context with one another. I read that Garcia used an old microphone for the recording of Dargona Dragona, and that's why it sounds weird. The intro track sets it up well that and makes it sound way more epic.

Sounds interesting to me at first listen. Nothing impressive but... interesting.
P.D: Maybe because I LOVE Brant Bjork?

This album only got better with more listens. Quite an underrated release last year. Just as enjoyable as Like Clockwork.

Ironically I thought both albums were terrible and try-hard when in comparison with early material.

I liked it better than Like Clockwork myself though I ended up liking them both. Hell, I still think it would've worked as an actual Kyuss album personally.

Definitely a grower, just i give it time. Looking forward to John Garcia's solo album coming up.
