Last night Church of Misery posted a pic on their facebook of Tatsu and Dave Sherman, with the caption "Another DOOM legend came to the studio @Dave Sherman." Looking him up here on MA, he is/was the singer for Wretched, Earthride, and Weed is Weed, so I'm guessing he will be the singer on the new Church of Misery album.

So that would be the line-up of:

Bass: Tatsu Mikami
Guitars: Dave Depraved (Blood Farmers, The Disease Concept)
Drums: Eric Little (Earthride, ex-Internal Void)
Vocals: Dave Sherman (Earthride, Weed is Weed, ex-Wretched, bass/vocals in Spirit Caravan)

I'm going to have to familiarize myself with some of Sherman's work.

Already? Thy Kingdom Scum felt like yesterday... and wasn't the same as the CoM that came before it.

Very cool if that's the case. Been a Sherman fan for a while and his gruff vocals would be a perfect fit for Church of Misery. It's really starting to look like a mini-supergroup with so much doom talent in the current lineup. Thy Kingdom Scum left me indifferent but now I'm anxious to hear the upcoming album.

I always get bummed when I read topics about Church of Misery and it turns out to be the Japanese one. Minstrel of Mourning is one of the most underrated albums in metal, at once existing as a bizarre style change away from Impetigo and a semi-logical expansion of what that band was doing on songs like "Breakfast at the Manchester Morgue."

I'd be keen to hear COM with a different vocalist, I'm not their biggest fan because of the vocals actually, the music is fully awesome though.

So what happened with the rest of the band? Was it an amicable split? Sorry, I've only really been keeping up with this once I heard all these doom-honkeys were getting involved, haha.

I wish I knew what happened to the rest of the band, but I have no idea.
