From Sepulchral's Facebook, both albums are gonna be released in June! I personally can't wait and I'll probably review both or at least Gris. A great month for QCBM!

SP034 : Gris « À l’âme enflammée, l’äme constellée… » DCD

5 years and a half after the unforgettable Il Était Une Forêt, and after the Miserere Luminis project, Icare and Neptune resume their trip with their third album, once again a masterpiece. Featuring two symmetric parts for a total of 80 minutes, À l’âme enflammée, l’äme constellée… sees the band integrate more of the classical and acoustic parts displayed by the last track of their second album to its melancholic Black Metal. A painfully beautiful album.

SP035 : Sombres Forêts « La Mort du Soleil » CD

Sombres Forêts is back with its third album, who sees the band take on a more atmospheric and introspective approach. By incorporating some Miserere Luminis ADN into his solo project, Annatar offers an album that is rich in atmosphere and textures, where dissonant and droning guitars go side-to-side with the acoustic parts and tortured vocals that have become the group’s trademarks over the years. A journey to dark and stormy lands!

Really looking forward to these Tony, have especially been keeping an eye on Sombres for the past few years, a couple of updates here and there regarding the new release. The last album was fantastic, a favourite of mine this last few years. Fuck 2013 just gets better and better :)

It's a fantastic year so far indeed, I can't wait to have more infos (cover art!) about these albums. Hopefully Gris will do a release gig! I know SF will play some gigs in Europe (France and Belgium so far) and here but no words yet for Gris.

Pre-order details from Sepulchral:
Spoiler: show
The Sombres Forêts album will be available in single CD format (13 $ Canada and US/ 13 Euros anywhere else), while the Gris album will be available either in DCD format (17 $/Euros), OR in a double digipack, 6 pannel limited to 500 copies and available only from Sepulchral Productions (20 $ / Euros).

We are taking preorder as of now for both albums, who will be shipped during the week preceding the release date!! To order through Paypal, you can send the appropriate amount at info (AT) sepulchralproductions (DOT) com while noting the ordered items, or contact us at the same address for more details!

I've had a terrible time with Sepulchral, so I won't even bother. Send them emails, they don't reply. Send them money and requests for products, never seen again. I am excited for the music though. Hoping for online release!

That's strange. The only time I've ordered with them I always got a reply and the guy was always helpful. But I guess it depends on how busy he is, he might've been in the middle of boring admin for Messe des Morts when you contacted him.

Anyway, I've been looking forward to the new Gris album since the rumours of L'alchimiste back in 2011 or so. Glad to see the band back in action. I just preordered the digipack and the Sombres Forets album, so I'm excited for it!

Just put in my pre-order for the Sombres Forets CD and the Gris digipack. I've been waiting forever for the Gris album in particular, Il Etait une Foret remains one of my favorite black metal albums to this day.

I never heard anything bad either, Martin is a very professional and honest dude.

Excellent news, I've been waiting for anything new by these guys for a while now. I'm sure the albums will both be spectacular.

Ah man, these 2, Naam and Man's Gin. Going to be a good month in music for me. Can't wait, especially for the Gris. I think an increased classical influence would be amazing, they're very good at it. I'm hoping the long wait means they really put the time into crafting a great album.

Suh-weet! Both of these bands are great. I was more into Gris for a while there but more recently I've leaned more toward Sombres Forets being the better of the two. In any case new albums from both is awesome.

Ordered both of those as soon as I read the news + the latest Monarque release. Can't wait to listen to those, I can't remember last time I was hyped that much.

I've once heard that Gris would never do gig except when their seventh and last album will be released.

For Sombres Forêts, they're playing at the Agitée in Quebec with Csjethe and Chasse-Gallerie on July 26th. I should order my ticket in a week or two. That's sure to be a concert worth a three hour drive.

Oh, also, Sepulchral just announced a gig with different openers on August 3rd in Montreal which they'll film for a DVD. Might be more convenient to go to this one for you.

Seventh album? :( This will be in like 25 years! Anyway, I'll be at the show in Montréal for sure.

Anyway, here's the live lineup of SF!
Annatar : Guitares Lead/Voix/Claviers
Neptune (Gris) : Guitares rythmiques
Icare (Gris) : Batterie
HMD : Guitares rythmiques
Omega : Basse

Yeah, it's pretty lame that they're waiting for the seventh and final album, but I guess it's all part of their grand vision or whatever. At least their counting that album they did as Niflheim as their debut (even though it's not listed as such on the MA page, for the sake of not having the same album up twice I guess). It's cool to see all of Miserere Luminis as part of SF, at least they're playing live.

Sombres Forets order placed, will hopefully get round to ordering Gris next month though I always favoured Sombres the most out of the two.

Cannot wait for this! Will be ordering the 'Il Etait Une Foret' album and the Miserere Luminis project they did with Sombres Forets! My partner recently got me Neurasthenie by Gris for my bithday and that was my first exposure to the band, absolutely loved it!

This is the best metal news I've heard all year. I love both bands' work, especially Il Etait Une Foret. La Dryade's a masterpiece so I'm ecstatic that Gris plans to incorporate more of that sound into their already top-notch style.

SO excited for this! I freaked out when I saw the post by Sepulchral! I only wish that I could see them live, but that is pretty much impossible! Oh well, at least I'll get to hear new music from them!! It's been FAR too long for both bands!

Were HMD and Omega also the live members for ML? Anyway, will be at either the Paris or the Lille gig as it looks like they're not going to play the UK.

Well this song from the new Sombres Forets sounds absolutely gorgeous. Now the incoproation of Miserere Luminis into the sound makes a little more sense...

Here is the new Gris as well:

I dig it. I like how he changes up his vocals. The intro is quite nice, as well.

That Gris song is okay. It doesn't do much to touch me. The clean part is also too long. Il Était Une Foret was good, but not THAT GOOD guys. It was above average DSBM.
That Sombres Forets song is better (whole lotta forests in this bitch) but still doesn't excite me that much. It had cool build ups and acoustic work, I'll give it that much.

Nuh-uh, it totally was that good. It really is just more than a good DSBM album, it draws on some of the trappings of the genre, but really is more than that. It doesn't feel entirely depressive, mostly because of the classical instruments, which really turn it into something else. Also, those leads, man.

Haven't listened to either band before, but after checking out the tracks on youtube I can say I'll definitely be picking both of these albums. I've really been digging a lot of black metal from Quebec recently.

Both of these songs were pretty neat. Not quite up there with the best of the moments on the bands' previous pair of albums, but I assume that Sepulchral is feeding us "teaser" tracks, with the really jaw-dropping moments found elsewhere on the albums. The first half of that Gris song was really gorgeous. My only real complaint is that the guitars were mixed somewhat quiet in both tracks, but that could just be a YouTube issue.

Gris' track is nice, but I'm disappointed in the vocal work. Icare is one of the best black metal vocalists around today, but he sounds positively numb in that track. I guess the intensity of Il etait une foret can't be matched.

The cover art for both of them are awesome. Particularly Sombres Forets. You know you're gonna get something great when Fursy Teyssier is doing it. Image
he posted a timelapse video of the Sombres Forets cover as well.
