In the liner notes of Der Fünfzehnjährige Krieg they say their biggest musical influence has not been any Scandinavian black metal band, but a German horror punk band. They don't mention the band's name. Does anyone know or have a guess of what it is?

I thought I had read it was a band called Der Fluch, (translates as "The Curse") who were some sort of Misfit-esque horror band.

Yeah, it would be Der Fluch. Absurd have actually covered two of their songs, one on "Der Fünfzehnjährige Krieg", and one on the "Weltenfeind" split with Sigrblot (easily their best material) and Grand Belial's Key.

Which are one of the best covers ever as Absurd make them sound like their own songs.

Ah thanks guys. I recognize the name thanks to the Absurd covers but had never looked into Der Fluch and didn't realize they're horror punk.

I personally prefer the Absurd covers. From what I hear, Der Fluch's music contained a strong gothic post-punk influence.

As a sidenote, some of their material was released on Rock-O-Rama, the same label as Skrewdriver.
