I think it looks a bit iffy myself, the addition of HI in the matrix is odd also IFPI LTZZ [2 zeds] and the font looks like TZZ at the top is all joined.
And you say the packaging is different too...

Yeah, those were all of my worries, but I've seen weirder different versions of matrices haha. I'll just get new ones, they are fairly cheap anyway.

Hi dreadmeat, thanks for the reply!

So yeah, the smell is what got me to think it might be a bootleg. It smells like new!
As for the volume, i compared Grin with a cd that came out recently (Symphony x - Underworld).
The sound was quite low compared to the loudness of Underworld.
Oh and yeah a bootlegger can easily print a mailorder card...Its just that the one i got with the cd doesn't look cheap, that's all.

I just picked up Mayhem - Chimera and it has a matrix not on Discogs, but seems familiar. >SOM084 S2516V SOUND PERFORMANCE 02 IFPI LL29

I tthink I've seen this before, but not sure where. Can anyone confirm anything?

It'll just be yet another different pressing http://www.discogs.com/label/169144-Sound-Performance
Have a poke around in the items for sale and sold for any clues, often people will state differences in there.

Just a heads up for those of you looking to pick up the repressed Infernal War CDs "Terrorfront" and "Redesekration" from Agonia Records. I have both originals from years back and opted to get new backups because it's two of my favorite albums, unfortunately all they've done is photocopied the original booklet/inlay (poorly too) and used the copies to press the new ones. If you come across a Terrorfront and want to know if it's the original press just look at the tray card, the original doesn't have perforated lines where it folds.

Looks like it has the Thrust cat # as the matrix instead of the standard Disctronics B matrix.
It's not a Russian 'licensed' one either, it's just a straight out bootleg.

You mean it has only TRUST # on matrix? Mine copy is mirrored "MADE BY DISCTRONICS B ** THRUST007 ** #01", should i start to worry?

Yeah, and the boot (like many others) just has the CAT#. It's a bootleg favourite alongside having the name of the band in caps.

When I first saw his thread I figured they were probably those awful "licensed" CDs
Fortunately he provided a list of titles and even some photos.

Well, at least he's upfront and doesn't hide the fact that they're unofficial copies.

Dude has a bunch of those..

http://www.trademe.co.nz/music-instrume ... 609014.htm

They look kind of shit - and those covers look dodgy as hell. Then again why would anyone make a shitty looking "licensed" bootleg instead of bootlegging the official version?

Today got BT - Realm Of Chaos, looks legit, but i can't find this exact release on Discogs, similar to http://www.discogs.com/Bolt-Thrower-Rea ... se/5056373 but no ifpi and "3" as mould stamp or what? Any idea from what year it could be?

I'm wondering what spooked you though... Where did it come from? Is it just because it's not listed on Discogs?

There's like a thousand different represses of ROC.. I've got the 1995 reissue and it has a plain black disc face with the Bolt Thrower logo, doesn't have that artwork either. No sign of that one on Discogs anywhere
