Hello! Thanks very much for allowing me to post this most obscure call for help. For decades, I have been searching for the band, album and title of a song that is obviously rare and unknown. In the 1980's, there was metal / rock "song" that was actually a story narrated by a woman (Blonde? But not) about this group of people that launched into space. The only thing I can remember for lyrics was that, "They came back to Earth with a great rock and roll band." One opportunity came up when Skinny Puppy: Remix Dystemper came out - That exact line, "They came back to Earth with a great rock and roll band" was used in the song "Rodent". I contacted the producer and actually got a reply: "No idea where that track originated, the guys would know but I can't promise forwarding this would get you results." And I have not heard anything since. I'll buy anybody a case of beer that can name that tune!

Try Reddit's Tip of my Tongue subreddit if no one here knows it. They're pretty good about getting obscure stuff, though from some Googling, this seems extremely obscure...

"What came back to Earth was a great rock and roll band."
"They Came Back to Earth With A Great Rock And Roll Band"

Thanks to both of you so far - I'll try Reddit and yes, dreadmeat, you're right it IS "What" and not "they" now that you mention it. I know it was used by Skinny Puppy, but the original was from a narrated rock / metal stpry / opera from the late 70's or early 80's. I will check out Reddit and post my findings.

have you tried the credits for the album the song is from? they'll often cite sources of soundbites used.
maybe your local record store has a copy you could look at.
