Under The Sign of the Black Mark in the top 3 or GTFO

Great to see all of the first three Gorgoroth albums (and nothing else after it).

Also great to see Tormentor's Anno Domini.

Fuck Ulver. Noctir's reviews of those overrated albums hit the nail right on the head.

Another thing you guys got right was having Pure Holocuast, At The Heart of Winter and Sons of Northern Darness on the same list. Most publications can't seem to get that right.

That said, Blizzard Beasts shouldn't be on this list, and Battles in the North should.

Worship Him (Samael) should be here for the sole reason that it was a second wave black metal album released in 1991.

While it feels like congratulating a child for not chewing with their mouth open, you wouldn't believe how many publications get Dissection being a black metal band wrong. One of the laughable flaws of Decibel's 100 greatest death metal albums list was the inclusion of Storm and Somberlain.

Where the fuck is Frost? It's really not that different of a sound than Vikingligr Veldi. Eld is when the black metal sound started to be phased out.

If Mercyful Fate is here (which they shouldn't be), then the first two Slayer albums and Morbid Visions should be too. So should Sodom's In The Final Sign of Evil and Obsessed By Cruelty (if for no other reason it's really crappy mix)

The Emperor EP should not be top 80, let alone 55.

Hammerheart. Great album, but it's about as black metal as Manowar.

Interesting surprise seeing Thy Mighty Contract under Non Serviam.

Not a single Watain album? Really?

Edit: Ending on a positive note, kudos for including Celtic Frost. By modern standards they are absolutely black metal (though I'm scratching my head as to where Hellhammer's Apocalyptic Raids EP is).

Will have to respectfully disagree with you there. Music is all subjective...you mention Watain but for me they are overrated. The only album I enjoy from them and listen to occasionally is Casus Luciferi, and that would not be in my top 100 list.

It's a pity Obtained Enslavement's Witchcraft didn't make the list. That album would be in my top 20, let alone top 100.

Agreed about Merciful Fate, there is nothing even resembling Black Metal about their music. A dude wearing facepaint doesn't count.

Man, it's a list. It's not the law. I disagree with many of the albums added there, but hell, who cares?
