Wow. This is really good. Much different from what they've done in the past. Reminds me of Wolves in the Throne Room.

I kinda like what they've done in the past. But this is really promising.

I like the band but they clearly still don't know what the heck it is they want to play and play it with conviction and originality.

I really love the band .I agree with foxx though. You must have noticed that where In The Absence of Light took it’s cues from the Scandinavian black metal scene.

Instead of rehashing used Emperor riffs they have now gone the direction of sounding like WITTR on Two hunters, more specifically the semi-acoustic transition to blasting parts. Its better compared to all of their old dogshit but its still unoriginal, its going to be a treat to see these losers get their asses handed to them on tour with Inquisition.

Well, I scanned through the song and it's better than their previous material, which is complete shit. However, while it is better, it's just dishonest. This band doesn't know what it wants to play or why.

I guess that's easier for the insecure to accept than the likely reality of the combined members of Inquisiton and Abigail hanging out, listening to Immortal, and drinking beer after every show.

I mean getting outplayed by a superior band, of course they aren't going to get them physically. More than likely they might even be "tour mates" not that you or I have any sort of recourse to prove our views either way, Inquisition has bashed wannabe bands like Abigail williams in past interviews so who knows really.

I think I'm gonna start promoting, I'll only book shows witch two co-headliners, and they'll alternate playing one song each for an hour or so, and then they pull out the chairs and spiked bats and get in the ring for a hardcore royal rumble. Last member standing wins the guaranteed money for the show.

Goddamn best idea ever.

If Inquisition was to be assholes to the people they are stuck with for a few months over the fact that they are "untrve" then Inquisition can eat a bag of dicks.

I'm curious, what are the Inquisition dudes like? They're one of my favorite live bands, perhaps top of the heap.

Really friendly and affable, the kind of guys that I think you'd just hang out with and totally forget they're in a band you love. Of course they still take their music 100% seriously...

I literally thought I was listening to Wolves in the Throne Room for a moment there. I like it, but there's absolutely no point for this to exist. The only thing it does for me is make me want to go jam out to Two Hunters.

Abigail William's best material was on Legend, and I doubt they'll ever beat it.

Atmospheric Black Metal is the new drone metal. That's my take away.

This.

About the Inquisition/Abigail Williams tour... Inquisition weren't meant to be on the tour in the first place. They're simply replacing Belphegor, who've cancelled all shows until May (Killfest USA with Overkill) and Inquisition offered to take their place. Even so, they're still the second band on the bill out of the four with Dark Funeral headlining.

A tour with Dark Funeral and Inquisition! Damn wish that was in the UK!

The guys from Inquisition are really nice blokes when we played with them their plane was delayed and they missed our set the drummer geuninely seemed annoyed to have missed us. Had a few beers with them, they were top guys!

the new album itself is enjoyable.
Is this band still in the limelight of criticism for their metalcore years?

I think they are still being criticised for not being interesting or worthy of listening to. Not even because they were metalcore... cause I like some metalcore. It's just they weren't good at it.

Unfortunately I think that's just your opinion. Lots of people like to hate on them just because of the genre they are rather than how good they are. I'm not saying their old stuff is good; I didn't really like it. But there are a bazillion bands worse than them that get no flak.

The problem is that they have never been good at anything. Maybe Ken knows it pretty well and that's the reason they try to find a style that they can do properly, but at the end of the day, they have been just copying someone else who's 'in vogue' and jumping into the bandwagon.

So much hate for no reason at all other than to look cool on a site filled with elitists. I don't get how you would hate this, and like Wolves in the Throne Room or atmospheric black metal in general. Or how you could hate their last album and say you like Watain. Just because they has one EP that was in a -core style does not mean they have stayed like that and mean everything they do is invalid. How about you hate the music and not the fans?

It's Hank's mother.

Ahhhhh, joke.

This is embarrassing because I actually wrote a script for the sequel to an alternative ending of The Crucible. The name didn't click with me...

Its like this: There are bands that cut new paths and try to create something more viserally interesting - I think of The Summoning as a band in this sort of vein that doesn't suck. And then you have bands, and IMO, WITTR is one of them, who take a path of less resistance and say "hey, that was a cool sound, we'd like more of that sound" and they in turn become to black metal what Stone Temple Pilots or Smashing Pumpkins were to Grunge. Maybe you like those bands because they have enough original spirit of the first wave of actually innovative acts that they please you and whatever else. Abigail Williams? Well, they're like Bush or Days of the New. They're 15 years late to the party, pretty much everything you could do in this realm has at least been tried, TBH, but hey, they like it now too and now they're going to copy those who copied someone else. Just like if you recompress a JPEG enough times or photocopy a photocopy, eventually, you get an illegible mess that was never necessary in the first place.

Just a heads up that we are releasing deluxe limited editions of "Becoming" and "Legend" on vinyl. These were remastered for vinyl by frontman Ken Sorceron from the original 24-bit mixes and include eight bonus tracks in total.

Pre-order goes live May 22nd at 8PM Finnish time (1PM NYC).

I know that many people here are against this band, but there are some fans! This is obviously for them.

Always thought this band sucked, and after that song I still think they suck. Inquistion are great, I wish they would come to Michigan with Witchtrap (COL), Renvenge (COL) and Skull (COL) on tour or maybe Masacre (COL) that would be amazing. Not a fan of Dork Funeral either.
