There already wasn't a thread about this announcement on here? You people disappoint me.

Either way, I've loved everything the band has put out that I've heard so this is most definitely up my alley.

Should be solid. Not expecting miracles, but not expecting it to be bad either.

I hope this sounds different than Snakes For The Divine.

:hyper: Great news! I loved Snakes for the Divine. If they can one-up it I'll be very happy.

I think they get better and better with each album. They're not as stoner-y as they once where, but I like the cleaner faster direction on Snakes for the Divine, it's really refreshing. I'm excited for this!

edit: oh and that art is just sick.

Definitely looking forward to it. I liked Death is the Communion quite a bit more than Snakes... so I hope this one's more in that line, but it's Matt Pike, it should rule or at least pack some meaty riffs.

I'm super excited for this one since it was recorded by Kurt Ballou, who is the master of awesome guitar tones. I think Snakes For The Divine was a bit of a step down from Death Is The Communion, but I'm sure this band still has some serious riffs left in reserve.

That was... okay. I don't know, I guess I've fallen out of love with High On Fire. It seems like they can't top Death Is This Communion. Every instrument sounded massive on that. Though this sounds good, the riffs are certainly heavy, Pike still sounds like a super pissed off Lemmy, it dosen't do much for me.

Can't listen to the track right now, but I am glad they kept Greg Fidelman far away from this one. Should be better production than Snakes.

As for songwriting, the band does things right ways all the time, so I'll be getting the album for sure.

God damn Kurt Ballou needs to produce everything. Song's pretty cool, but pretty standard.

The drums are quite insane and I really like the solo section. Assuming this represents the rest of the album, they might be coming out with their fastest one yet.

Fuck yes!!! The song slays, it's heavy as fuck. The album art is also awesome. Sigh has a serious contender now for the album of the year.

That song was tight. It'll be one hell of an album, that's for sure. I'll be greatly looking forward to the release.

I think the album art is silly, and I don't like the album name, especially when translated into English. But that doesn't really matter, seeing how awesome the song is. The drum intro by itself is amazing. Really looking forward to this.

the tune i streamed yesterday was good [found it via smn news] http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/132 ... ile-green/
really cool band that i'd not given much time to but since hearing Surrounded by Thieves [which i grabbed on a whim because i recognised Matt Pike's name from Sleep, and it was really cheap] i told myself to get more of their stuff!
they came over here before i knew i liked them [Melvins support] and i'm kicking myself now for missing them.

'De Vermiis Mysteriis' is now streaming at http://www.npr.org/2012/03/25/148593780/first-listen-high-on-fire-de-vermis-mysteriis?ps=cprs. I really like the production by Kurt Ballou, it has more balls than Snakes for the Divine.

Wow, that's some really noisy shit (the first song). I wouldn't say 'heavier' than normal, but definitely more frantic. Production makes it sound absolutely barbaric.

Not bad for sure but there's something that doesn't quite grab me with the riffs like Snakes for the Divine did and that's why I admired that record. I've still got this album pre-ordered and I'm happy with getting it when it arrives through the post. I'll hear it some more then.

Haven't had time to listen to the album yet, but the album art for this albums kicks ass... Very different, the best they've had so far. I get this kind of Illuminati wibe from the whole concept.

Listened to it at work today (although I wan't totally focused on it, y'know, being at work and all) and it sounds great. I'll have to give a good listen when it comes in the mail. I distinctly remember there being a song in which the majority of the riffage was total Sleep, and it was pulled off pretty damn well. Not that this whole thing sounds like Sleep or anything, but that song definitely had the signature of a past Matt Pike written all the way across it. I can't imagine disliking this one.

This album sounds massive, way better than I expected after Snakes. Maybe it will even rival Death Is This Communion with a few more listens.

Yeah, I noticed that too, have only heard through it once. I liked that a song with slower pace was thrown in there, made the album more varied. I wonder if sleep are working on new material. Never really been into the band or took the time to check them out thoroughly, but liked the stuff they've done afterwards. Especially Shrinebuilder. So I wonder what direction a new record would go. I love the monkish chant omh's and stuff Al does, and would love to hear it on a new record with Matt Pike's darker side. SOme sort of Marriage between HOF and OM.

Definitely one of my favorites so far this year. Very, very heavy, and paced perfectly. I like the gritty noisy production, works really well

Listened to this a couple hours ago and it sounds great. Definitely more on the Death Is This Communion side of things in terms of sound though it may just end up one of their heaviest yet.

I guess I'm the only person disappointed by this. It suffers the same problems, for me, that Snakes did. Too fast/not enough stoner groove and I really don't like when Pike tries to add melody to his vocals. Comes off as a bit silly whereas his rhythmic phrasing can be really great.

I should note that this is the opinion of someone who thinks Dopesmoker is one of the greatest songs ever written... So don't take my opinion of this material too seriously.

I don't see why you can't like both. I love both Sleep, and newer HOF material.

Definitely has a lot more balls to it then Snakes(Although I did like it, the trad metal-styled lead work on some of the songs was great), and King of Days is probably one of the best songs they've ever written(even though it totally hints at Sleep).
