I doubt they'll release anything new soon.

Agree with that, since their last album was in 2011. Still, some bands put new material out even faster. We will probably have to wait atleast six months or so, for some anouncements about the new stuff.

I don't really get all the "what are they thinking" reactions. I don't find anything shocking in having two versions of a band around. In the 70s, you had Amon Düül and Amon Düül II, and they were both good bands. I'm pretty sure there are other examples which escape me right now.

I mean, really, why not?

Two times the Rhapsody as far as I'm concerned, something I'm happy about.

Because good music or not, this is still unnecessarily complicated. That's why not.

@splyu: You forget about Amon Düül (UK), Amon Düül I, West Coast Amon Düül, Amon Düül: Year One, and Amon Düül: Return of the Revenge of the Let's-Grab-a-Quick-Buck,Shall-We!? :D

The name 'Amon Düül' was trademarked by Chris Karrer and Peter Leopold of Amon Düül II, meaning that re-issues of Amon Düül's albums have been required to license the name from them.

Not convoluted at all.

Other examples would have to include the time there was Deep Purple on the one hand, and Rod Evans with a bunch of guns for hire usurping the name on the other hand; also, the whole 90's with the Survivor versus "Jimi Jamison's Survivor" mess.

@Mysticaloldbard: Thanks, 'preciate it. You're not wrong about the more forcibly technical embellishments in this song compared to classic Rhapsody. The main riff's chord progression and all of the vocal lines are fairly straightforward, but the frequent insertion of brief spells of rapid-fire shredding into the riffs give the whole a more prog/tech feel. Overall, this is very solid in terms of everything but core composition, lyrics and vocal style (the guy may be a male seducer, but I cannot for a second deny his vocal capabilities).

The clip doesn't make much sense to me, and neither does what I caught of the lyrics so far. Besides the rhyme, whatever does a mantis have to do with Atlantis? More importantly, what does Atlantis have to do with a non-submerged, post-apocalyptic modern city, or a giant tentacle monster, for that matter? Oh well. It's fantasy, so I guess anything goes...

Mantises are very dangerous...
