I doubt we've ever had a thread like this here on MA, as BDM isn't too highly regarded around this place. I can only hope that this might serve as an introduction for those somewhat interested. Those who can't be bothered to dig through thousands of generic Grindcore bands to find the good stuff.

Post: bandname, title, year, label.

Okay, we're like four posts in and the pictures are already getting annoying. Anyways:

  • Cephalotripsy - Uterovaginal Insertion of Extirpated Anomalies - slam, just like it should be. Relentlessly heavy and trashy, with some of the weirdest, most inaccessible vocals possible.
  • Short Bus Pile Up - Repulsive Display of Human Upholstery - again, very trashy slam, mixed with a bunch of pornogrind-style riffs yet retaining a peculiarly OSDM style of vocals.
  • I'll second Dripping's album, some very good, atmospheric slam and probably the closest the genre will ever come to beauty.

I often find that entire BDM albums aren't very good and only a handful of tracks on each album is worth listening to, some exceptions being Devourment - Unleash the Carnivore, most of Aborted's discography, Abominable Putridity - In the End of Human Existence, some Viral Load and Insidious Decrepancy and such.
I've taken a liking to some BDM albums, mostly in the slam sub genre I guess. I'm not gonna post label and year, and most certainly not the artwork, but here are some of the albums I think are essential BDM albums:
Viral Load - Practitioners of Perversion
Skinless - Foreshadowing Our Demise
Putrid Pile - House of Dementia
Putrefy - One Nation Under Gore
Pus Vomit - Degrading the Worthless
Origin - Antithesis
Nile - Annihilation of the Wicked
Mortician - Hacked Up for Barbecue
Kraanium - Ten Acts of Sickening Perversities
Insidious Decrepancy - Extirpating Omniscient Certitude
Inhume - Moulding the Deformed
Ingested - Surpassing the Boundaries of Human Suffering
Human Mincer - Degradation Paradox
Heinous Killings - Hung with Barbwire
Guttural Secrete - Reek of Pubescent Despoilment
Guttural Engorgement - The Slow Decay of Infested Flesh
Gorevent - Worship Paganism
Fleshrot - Traumatic Reconfiguration
Drowning in Phemaldehyde - Blistering Corpse Abortion
Devourment - Unleash the Carnivore
Despondency - Revelation IV
Degrade - Lost Torso Found
Defeated Sanity - Psalms of the Moribund
Decaying Purity - Phases of Dimensional Torture
Condemned - Desecrate the Vile
Cesspool of Vermin - Beastial Necrophilia
Cerebral Incubation - Asphyxiating on Excrement
Cephalic Impurity - Perverted Surgical Concept
Burning the Masses - Offspring of Time
Brutus - Slachtbeest
Awaiting the Autopsy - Couldn't Tell the Bodies Apart
Avulsed - Stabwound Orgasm
Amputated - Wading Through Rancid Offal
Abysmal Torment - Epoch of Methodic Carnage
Aborted - Slaughter & Apparatus
Abominable Putridity - In the End of Human Existence

Defeated Sanity became one of my absolute favorite BDM's bands with 2010's "Chapers of Repugnance".

Regurgitation is mandatory for those who like their BDM with a Thrashy edge. They have an insisting, in-your-face sound that's immediately recognizable. Half of the line-up went on the produce music under the Necrotic Disgorgement moniker.

Regurgitation - Tales of Necrophilia - 1999 - Ablated Records

Seriously dude, the pictures are starting to be a little much. What are you trying to do, anyways? Give the board a crash course on regional scenes of BDM?

I'm just on a roll down memory-lane. I like having pictures in threads just like flipping through records at the local store (the old school Death Metal gems thread is a great example). Cover-art is an integral part of the Heavy Metal music culture and you seem to be the only person bitching thus far. I'm sorry if your brain can't cope with the quantity of visual information.

If you want this thread to last, you should write a little about why these are your favorite brutal death albums, picture threads don't usually last too long.

Anyways, one of my personal favorites is Destroy the Opposition by Dying Fetus, it's pretty much the album (along with Killing on Adrenaline) that got me completely hooked on death metal. Some fuckin' great grooves on that one, the more techy parts seem to put some people off, but I dig 'em, and I've always loved John and Jason's dual vocals.

Great album for sure. Dying Fetus kinda lost my interest after Kevin Talley left. His drumming on Destroy and Killing was a perfect fit for the band. I remember Stop at Nothing being a huge let-down.

The pictures suck. Explain why you like them or something little about them. This thread is literally too long with all the pictures, it should take way less time to get to the bottom.

I dunno, the only album I really felt let down by was War of Attrition, that one was a fucking snooze fest, besides Homicidal Retribution, I quite like Stop At Nothing. Oh, and Descend Into Depravity is absolutely fucking killer, easily their best since Destroy the Opposition, maybe even my favorite from them.

Most BDM album covers suck balls and all look alike, so I don't really see any use of them in this thread. You can't tell a book by its' cover, same goes for albums - The cover is irrelevant to me. Plus it's making the reading experience really shitty aswell as making the thread unnecessarily hard to load.

I will have to give their later stuff a chance. Have you heard Soils of Fate by the way? They used to be known as Dying Fetus swedish cousin.

No, I haven't, I'll have to check 'em out. Album cover looks familiar, think I mightuve avoided it because I thought it looked lame :P

Fetal Decay's very similar to Dying Fetus, if you're interested in that, check out their album You Have No Choice.

Super lame. But it's actually really fucking good. Just as well-written and well-played as Dying Fetus.

Glad you like it! They're absurdly brutal, I've been describing them as something like Autopsy and Devourment having a kid together. I found it at a record store in baltimore and decided to pick it up on a whim. It's the way those blasts and gurgles give way to the sludgy, doomy parts, I love it completely. In case anyone else is curious:

They remind me a little of Infester as well. Must be that super down-tuned mix of Grind and Doom.

This is an album I've enjoy immensely for years and years. Killer 90'es Death/Grind wrapped in a ultra kitsch semi-nazi aesthetic. An extra + is the legendary beef between Fermento's singer/guitarist Roberto Garchitorena and Avulsed's Dave Rotten. Some of the threads on the old Devourment forum were pure gold.

It'd be cool if you'd add some description and shit to these posts. Even though I've been looking for some decent old school BDM stuff, it's still hard to even decide what to look at based on album covers alone with this stuff.

Cerebral Effusion - Impulsive Psychopathic Acts

Image

Killer slam album, and one of my favorites. Has some of my favorite guttural vocals in slam today, and an overall great production job. Haven't checked out anything else from these guys, but from what I hear, this album's leagues ahead of their other stuff. I'd rec it to anybody who enjoys quality slam/brutal death.

Impulsive Psychopathic Acts blew me away. I have their older releases on Unmatched Brutality, but they pale in comparison. This one however is destined to become a classic.

The few Brutal Death metal albums that have caught my attention:

Wormed - Planisphaerium
Skinless - Trample the Weak
Malignancy - Inhuman Grotesqueries
Benighted - Icon

Everything else I've heard sounds identical to each other unfortunately.

Three of those four albums aren't even brutal death metal, so maybe they all sound identical to you anyways.

Don't know about Trample the weak, but early Skinless is definitely BDM. Malignancy and Wormed too. So that would make it one out of three.

Malignancy are a very strange breed of technical death metal, but they're certainly not BDM.
