Article wrote:
Rage Nucléaire - the new project led by ex-Cryptopsy vocalist Dan "Lord Worm" Greening - are finishing up the last pieces of their upcoming debut album, entitled Unrelenting Fucking Hatred.

Said Lord Worm to Bravewords: "Rage Nucléaire is a hate-filled blend of melodic black metal and violent industrial. It's a three-piece and its other component parts are Alvater on guitar, synth, drum programming, and background vocals, and Dark Rage on guitar, background vocals, and secret things even I'm not privy to.

A full-length CD, Unrelenting Fucking Hatred, is currently in the works. The three of us seem to share the same bleak world vision, for one thing, and this shows up very clearly in the compositions. Alvater used to be in the godly Frozen Shadows, and I know he hasn't spent nearly a fraction of his accumulated rage. Dark Rage and I don't do a lot of cretinous smiling, either.

Also, I remember a talk with (ex-Cryptopsy guitarist) Steve Thibault about ten years ago, in which he said something about having one more album left in him. As it turns out, he didn't, but I've often thought about that, and I figure I might have one or two left to expiate. As the millennium progresses, so does the aural assault perpetrated by really nasty practitioners of the Black Art; good. I just want to add my voice to the global chorus of discomfiture. And so, I will.

I'm still into doing live stuff but we'll have to see about that. There is also some material being written for a second release, and we'll probably have to put up a Facebook page, too, at some point. Other than that, I'm just looking forward to being dead, but then, aren't we all."

So this is the supposed black metal project that Lord Worm was working on. Either way, its good to see he's out and doing something different instead of riding out the past glories of Cryptopsy. The thing I'm most curious about, of course, is what his voice will sound like. We'll see...

FUCK YES!!!! I've been waiting for a loooong time for this to happen. He's one of my favourite vocalists, so I can't wait to hear him take on a different style of music. I've read that he has more of a passion for black metal than death metal, and I guess that makes sense due to how misanthropic and intelligent he seems to be in comparison with other death metallers. I'm hoping for something along the lines of Mysticum.

While I liked LW's vocals in Cryptopsy... that sounds like it's going to be awful.

I can't really picture the vocal style he used with Cryptopsy fitting in with any sort of melodic black metal. Hopefully by melodic he just means there is an emphasis on active riffing instead of just atmospheric background chording. Still, sounds like a lot of potential to be absolutely terrible.

It's almost as if it wasn't described in the blurb!

Sounds interesting to me, I would have listened to it even if it wasn't "hateful melodic industrial black metal" or whatever, it's Lord Fucking Worm.

I can almost picture Lord Worm using a weezy, grumbling vocal method similar to Attila on DMDS. This might be cool, but I've never heard of these other musicians

Woo! I'm definitely interested. Considering how Lord Worm sounded on OWN, I think his voice could be a good fit for this style of music. I'm also eager to see what he comes up with lyrically.

I think people are totally missing the fact that Alvater from Frozen Shadows (imo one of the best Quebecois Black Metal acts) is involved. He has never released anything that wasn't totally amazing in the black metal world and I have extremely high hopes for this.

This sounds incredible and anything he is involved in is bound to end up on my purchase list, if it's industrial it conjures certain images of Radikult and Destructos vs. The Earth but if Nader Sadek is any indication of anything, this will not fail

Lord Worm and melodic doesn't seem like it would mix, although a few Cryptopsy songs were melodic, but violent industrial? Yes please. Just make sure it's not Too Extreme!

And a lot of people were stoked for and in turn listened to the new Morbid Angel album. It sucked, but people listened regardless because it was Morbid Angel. I'm not ruling out that this could suck, but I'm inclined to give it a listen anyway simply because Lord Worm is a part of it.

The Axis of Perdition. Blut Aus Nord. Aborym

Industrial does not equal Rammstein.

It's not what I truly expect, just what I would like to hear. The violence is well known for Worm, but the industrial BM is what scares me a little. I thought about a grinder version of Aborym, but it could be something in the line of DHG's 666 International or Thorns. We can't know, but I like to imagine the possibilities.

Post subject:  Re: New Lord Worm project- Rage Nucléaire

I'm interested that's for sure, but the names are all pretty lame, and old Wormy poos was showing his age on OWN, and that was 6 years ago. I think he could do a good Atilla mumble like someone else said, but I'm not expecting those throat tearing screams we once got. As for the music the description doesn't sound awful, I have a soft spot for most industrial BM, and some of them have incorporated passages of melody well in the past, but full out melodic BM sounds like a bit of a clash.

Post subject:  Re: New Lord Worm project- Rage Nucléaire

I get the feeling this is going to be either really good or comedically bad, and I think it all depends on what's meant by "melodic black metal" and "violent industrial". If "melodic black metal" just means what it does on the surface- black metal with a strong sense of melody, that's promising. If it means "an attempt at faithfully imitating Dimmu Borgir's sound", that's not.

Probably an even more important question is what "violent industrial" means, and how well the band knows industrial music. I wish they'd gone into more detail there- that probably would be the strongest indicator of whether this is going to be interesting and good, or whether it's going to be a steaming slab of groovy, pseudo-industrial blackened nu-metal. If their inspiration is being drawn from the harsher sort of EBM, or the really abrasive old-school industrial like Throbbing Gristle and SPK (or for that matter the modern equivalent of those bands, the kind of thing that's often called "death industrial"), that has a lot of potential, I think. If, on the other hand, it means trying to sound like Static X or late-period Marilyn Manson... yeah. Insert your favorite jokes about Morbid Angel's new album here.

Personally, I'm more on the optimistic side- I really don't have the impression the people involved with this project are the types who would look to Dimmu Borgir and Static X for musical inspiration, and the name of the band and the title of the album do not suggest jumpdafuckup music to me. We'll see, though.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been waiting for this day for an eternity. Oh my fucking god. YES! I can't wait to hear what this sounds like, but I'm expecting it to be awesome. I simply love Lord Worm and hearing him in a different kind of band than Cryptopsy should be most interesting. Whatever it sounds like, I'm sure it'll be sick. He does that rather well...don't you think?

EDIT: Also, I hope everyone reads that whole link. He talks about influences/bands he's into at the moment. It probably clears up some people's fears that the mention of "industrial" will have something to do with Morbid Angel's latest pile of shit.
