I just stumbled upon this gem, Oniricous. From Spain, with Spanish lyrics.
Very old-school, very Swedish, very murky. They just released their debut on Razorback Records.

Hey all. Just thought I'd pop in to mention this release if it hadn't been mentioned yet. If it has, my apologies.

Dawn (Ger) - The Darkness Within from 1993. Just stumbled across it in the last couple days, initially drawn to it by the mesmerizing cover art, and was pretty pleasantly surprised with the musical contents as well. Uncompromising, meaty death metal with plenty of burly, gloom-shrouded riffs and a good dose of chaos in the mix. Nice combination of stylistics, taking the more headlong, barreling Swedish vibe and torquing it with Incantation-esque veins of the macabre. Vocals sound a lot like latter-day Bolt Thrower. Glad I found this!

Spain's Obscure had a 2 song demo in 1992, Non Existendi Cultus. "Blessing of Malignancy" is an excellent death metal mini-suite sort of thing, it moves from one distinct part to the next without cycling like a traditional song, and has loads of atmosphere. The other song on the demo is great too. It's simpler and more repetitive but has some pretty wicked, ghostly lead guitar.

And Iceland's Cranium, a little more familiar sounding, is one that's probably been mentioned on the board, but in case not:

If you like Monstrosity's "Perpetual War" -- and how could you not -- you'll approve. It's the title track from their 1993 Abduction demo.

Dissector were death metal from Split, Croatia.
They released two demos (first one being thrash metal, second one death metal) and this is track from their second demo Encircled which was released in 1994.

Demigod - Slumber of Sullen Eyes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh6wB4lQYO4
This album has one hell of a guitar tone. Has a very cryptic atmosphere.

Adramelech - Psychostasia
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xN1LhsiXZ68
Often compared to Demigod. There are some catchy as fuck riffs in here.

Fleshcrawl - Descend into the Absurd
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1Wmi6tZ8ZI
Has a very strong doom influence. Recommended for fans of Autopsy and diSEMBOWELMENT.

Massacra - Final Holocaust
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3epnOR7nklM
Death/Thrash. Extremely fast and heavy throughout.

Some great finds in here.

Adramelech is "often compared to Demigod" because of the shared members.

You might note that Massacra is "very Slayerish" and appeals to fans of early Vader, Morbid Angel. Mortuary, etc.

^^^^I actually came across that band not too long ago. Some guy on ebay was selling a copy of that album and I looked it up since I had never heard it. And did my best to win it but there were a couple of people who apparently knew and wanted it far more than I did. it went for like 60+ bucks. :/

You're welcome.

Ebay works in mysterious ways sometimes. That listing had been going on since May.
I got the cd myself many years ago. Good stuff.

Thought I'd revive this thread. Got 2 albums to post today.

Inquisitor - Walpurgis, Sabbath Of Lust. Dutch death / thrash with probably the craziest vocalist in the history of death metal. Many here may know about this band because it wasn't all that obscure but still never got the recognition it deserved. This is a pretty great album and the 2 demos are pretty neat too.

Misery - A Necessary Evil - This is probably the best Australian death metal band no one ever knew and is more suited to be on this thread compared to my earlier post. High consistent band, this is their from their debut. Pretty heavy death metal with slowed down parts in between makes it a death / doom release almost. With a pretty nasty vocalist, the band at times reminds me of Morpheus Descends.

Inquisitor is indeed a great band. with members of nox, centurian and so on..

Armoured Angel are ignored to a level that baffles me, and they are the ones responsible for founding Australia's biggest metal festival of the year "Metal For the Brain"!!! Definitely one of Australia's best kept secrets. Their style is somewhat comparable to that of Bolt Throwers I'd say, but heavier on atmosphere. Their style is very unique, despite it being so simple. They really are fucking awesome!

"Konqueror Records will re-release EXCRUCIATE's one and only full length "Passage Of Life" on CD. The album that originally came out back in 1993 on Thrash Records will feature new layout by Benny Moberg (Sufficiently Studios), but the same classic cover artwork by Kristian Whalin. I used to have that Thrash Records version on cd, but lost it in a lame trade in the early 00's :durr:
I guess I'll have to go with that reissue or pay up 300-400 $ for it.

Yesterday on an ebay bid, the original 'Passage of life' cd on Thrash records go at 61 € plus shipping (circa 80 $).

Now and thanks to Konqueror records  we can get this rare gems for only 13-15 € :hyper:

There are a lot of "original" copies of that album being sold on Ebay. Constantly. ;)

Didn't Konqueror already reissue the album a decade ago with all their other material? Oh wait, they did! So why reissue only the album now and not repress the whole compilation?!

Sorry Androdion, but what's wrong about this reissue? Do you already have an original copy of 'Passage of Life'?

Nah mate. I have a copy of the 2003 compilation Konqueror put out. It includes their split with Epitaph and the Mutilation Of The Past demo, plus two unreleased versions of tracks that ended in the album. It's just what I said, why not repress the whole compilation instead of just reissuing the album? It seems like a dumb call, you know?!

Post subject:  Re: Old School Death Metal Gems

Personally I prefer to have the original cover art then filler bonus tracks like demos or live recordings of poor quality.

That's all, however the news don't speak about details of the presence or not of bonus songs.
