I didn't see too much stuff in there that was all that obscure. I also saw some pretty cool stuff too. Like those Carpathian Forest CDs and the Emperor, Hellhammer and Taake CDs. If you got that for relatively cheap, then that was a hell of a nice score.

I'm loving all these copies of Secret Sudaria that keep turning up. I hope you guys obsess over that one (and the band) as much as I have. Secret Sudaria is probably their most straight forward and catchy so if you're digging that one check out the debut and Tolling 13 Knell which bookend it. The debut is a lot more dense, a lot more obscure, and a lot more atmospheric. Tolling 13 Knell is a bit more involved and technical, SOMEHOW without sacrificing the ritualistism they're known to cultivate.

i've heard of them, just not heard them.
this Carpathian Forest is pretty cool, very catchy and not too much mucking about with pianos and stuff, i'm 4 tracks into the compilation and just want to turn it up, really good stuff!
edit: DARK THRONE COVER
i didn't like the Emperor at all, i'm yet to play the taake

i'll respond to the messages soon :metal:

A few albums recently:
-Shining: Redefining Darkness. Fantastic album, haunting, mellow, intense music. Great production too and Kvarforth's vocals are very powerful.
-Burzum: Umskiptar. Quite dull unfortunately but some good moments.
-Verdunkeln: Weder Licht noch Schatten. Only one listen so far but I can see myself really enjoying this. Visually impressive too and I like that its made of a kind soft cardboard-ish material.
-Darkthrone: Under A Funeral Moon. Classic album, my previous copy died so I've replaced her...
-Mammoth Mammoth: Volume III - Hell's Likely. Good energetic stoner/rock. Gonna make it a priority to see these fellow Melbournians play live...

Well there isn't really much obscure stuff within this lot, mostly well known and solid material.

If you don't like the Denial of God - Klabautamanden, drop me a line, maybe we can set up a trade ;-)

On the 5th, I bought

Code: Resplendent Grotesque
Kylie Minogue: Light Years
Possessed: Seven Churches

I owned the Combat Records "Re-Masters of Metal" issue of Seven Churches, but I didn't like it. I thought the sound was kind of weak, and my digital copy I had on my computer had numerous sound artifacts throughout the album, which sucked. I also lost my CD copy of it somewhere, so I decided to buy the Icarus Music release of the album. It sound much better, which I'm very pleased with! The other two albums were new purchases. They all arrived in the mail over the past day or two.

a mate of mine called it forest metal a few years ago and the name just stuck, it may have been because of the band photos and album covers being set in forests.
i agree folk metal is very theatrical.

Order from Those Opposed came in this week. Really happy with this stuff:

Image

Agatus - Gilgamesh
Kawir - Isotheos
Aorlhac - Opus I
Mortifera - Maledictiih
La Maisniee du Maufe (various artists)

Kawir's new album is really solid, and I'm glad to see Agatus is still going strong after so many years.

Toxic Holocaust - Gravelord 7" EP
Joel Grind posted something on Facebook about trying to sell off some old, rare TH stuff on Discogs. I wound up buying this EP from him, and turns out it's one of 100 on red vinyl. I'm not much for collecting rare stuff, but it was cool to buy something from Joel's personal collection.

Dresden (Wisconsin d-beat/hardcore/crust band) - Extinguish the Cross 7"
A friend-of-a-friend's band that I've seen live a few times. Wound up finding some of their stuff at a local record store for cheap, and couldn't pass it up. Really great metallic d-beat stuff. Think of early Discharge mixed late Discharge mixed with late-90s hardcore mixed.

Dresden - Final Hour LP
Same as above. They're also on Profane Existence, which is a local label I try to buy from as often as possible. Cool stuff put out by cool people.
