I've had a few Icarus/Del Imaginario Dickhole CDs before, and upon buying more legitimate copies of some of the same albums, the audio honestly isn't much different unless I've just gotten lucky.

The packaging is where all the flaws really shine through. As you mentioned already, ugly ass logo, and sometimes the booklet/back cover can have a bit of a cheap look to them. Usually whatever decal or design that's on the disc itself is the most glaring difference. Like take a look at your Demolition Hammer CDs, and notice how the skull on them looks like it was cheaply copied onto it? On official Century Media copies, that skull has a glossy finish to it and obviously looks more professionally made.

Normally I'd say fuck Argentina for producing these crappy CDs, just as I'd say fuck Russia for their bootlegging antics, but the sole blame lies on every idiot who goes and sells those Icarus/DelWhoGivesAFuck to people outside of their country, because those CDs are made cheaply for people in countries like Argentina and where ever else that can't afford the pricier official copies of stuff. Keep all that shit IN THOSE COUNTRIES. The rest of the world doesn't want your bootleg shit.

Yeah, the packaging REEKS of cheapness, it's not even funny. The Demolition Hammer ones aren't as bad as the Atheist and Hypocrisy CD's. The worst one by far is the Immolation one. I mean, come on, I'd be ashamed to manufacture such a nuisance. It's just really, really bad. I honestly wasn't expecting to be so let down. The sad part is that I gave them great feedback prior to opening them up. :durr: Why am I so nice as a customer?

Oh well, I learned my lesson. I'm sure the sound won't be too different, but man, the actual products are miserable.

The first Icarus disc I got (unwittingly of course) was Summoning - Old Morning's Dawn. The disc was shoddy as hell, half the time my DVD player wouldn't even read it, it would just spin it and never start playing. Got a few more before I wised up to not buying cheap shit from WowHD (Amazon's shipping prices to here are fucking insane so I never order from there anyway).

I also got fooled by a DID pressing of Left Hand Path from an actual store, fuck knows how that even got there in the first place. Got a proper copy of that (first press, no les) more recently and was able to flog that one off so my collection is now 100% free from Argentinian garbage.

I searched the thread to see if people had similar experiences. I must admit, your posts about them made me chuckle a few times. Let's see how they sound instead of endlessly bitching about how it looks and all that. I'm in the process of burning them onto iTunes right now.

Cancer - To The Gory End
Seance - Fornever Laid to Rest
Asphyx - Last One on Earth

Finally knocked out few highly wanted albums. Not sure why it took me so long to get around to the Asphyx one though.

Just ordered (today and yesterday)

From 20 Buck Spin
Khemmis - Absolution
Khemmis - Hunted with tshirt combo
Magic Circle - live tape

From Profound Lore / all on CDs
Cobalt – Gin
SubRosa - For This We Fought The Battle Of Ages
Vhol – Vhol
Vhol – Deeper than Sky
Pallbearer – Foundations of Burden
Pallbearer – Sorrow and Extinction

I really used to hate Pallbearer but my hatred has subdued now and I feel like giving them another shot. Everyone can change their mind and be wrong! Profound Lore is cheap for Canadian customers too. 64 bucks shipped for 6 albums. Cheaper than the 20 Buck Spin order with how weak our dollar is right now :(

Four or five Eastern European black metal bands just released new stuff in the time it took you to type that sentence.

Small funeral doom pickup from HHR:

Bosque - Beyond
Mournful Congregation - Tears from a Grieving Heart and The Monad of Creation

Bosque album also has lyrics for me to add! :hyper: Super obscure stuff too that I really liked.

As for Mournful Congregation, HHR has their whole discography still available (I think they're 20 Buck Spin issues) for really cheap and I'm contemplating just grabbing them up as well.

EDIT: speak of the devil, that shit's starting to sell out.

Immolation - Unholy Cult

This was supposed to come with the rest of my order from Argentina, but I don't know why it came on its own. To my surprise, it's not by Icarus... but it's still from Argentina, and therefore, it sucks! The quality of the music is pretty good on all CDs though, so who gives a flying fuck.

I got it used. But yeah, I can't believe someone already unloaded the copy they just bought. Could be many reasons though, like someone who's not really into metal or Megadeth somehow got a free copy or something. Usually newer albums like that, at this store I go to, are priced closer to 10 or more though.
