Did yours actually arrive? I ordered mine on the 18th of last November and I've opened up a dispute with paypal at this point because the CD never arrived.

I haven't been home to check the mail in the past few days, but it hadn't arrived yet when I last checked. I think I ordered it around the same time as you, but I sent them an email to which they replied promising that I "should receive it ASAP". The webstore said it can take 4-5 weeks so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

CDs of course.

Oh and finally a replacement CD of Manilla Road - Invasion. I've been rocking the Greek Cult Metal Classics 2CD Invasion/Metal combo for a while now. Now I just gotta wait for Shadow Kingdom Records to release the new Metal reissue with the sick-ass artwork. Then I'll be set for Mysterium.

Found this small haul of used CDs in the local FYE:

Saint Vitus - Born Too Late (1987 SST Records)
Savatage - Dead Winter Dead (1995 Atlantic Records)
Bruce Dickinson - Accident of Birth (1997 CMC International Records)
Bruce Dickinson - Tattooed Millionaire (1990 Columbia Records)
Fight - War of Words (1993 Epic)
Bernstein Conducts Stravinsky (1985 Polygram)
Copland Conducts Copland (1988 CBS Records)
Fates Warning - Disconnected (2000 Metal Blade)
Fates Warning - Awaken The Guardian (1986 Metal Blade - Looks like a First Press but I have to do a little more research on that)
Fates Warning - No Exit (1988 Metal Blade - also looks to be a first press)

Hahaha. Actually I was going to ask about in the Bootleg thread but I think it may in fact be original. I'll upload some images. There are no IFPI marks so its probably 80's. I was curious if anyone else owned a copy.

EDIT: It's the 1990 press. I think that was the first CD press apparently. The only press on CD listed has the 12" EP attached. This also has that EP.

do it man

edit: either way it's technically a reissue if the lp was out first, first edition on cd? wicked!

Not worth a whole lot lol. Only about 15 bucks. I guess they were printed in a large amount but I'd have to do research on if there were other pressings afterwards that have an IFPI code.

EDIT: There is a pretty obvious IFPI code on it now. It must have been a pressing after 1994. Le Sigh.

For me, I am happier that the Awaken The Guardian discs are original.

ha ha what an alarmist

you know what though man, i like having originals just because they are, not because they are worth anything
eg my original nirvana - nevermind and the faith no more - angel dust original i got recently, neither of them are worth anything
i get waaaaaay too hung up on having to own an original copy, the end result [or the hideous expression i dislike "at the end of the day"] is what it sounds like.

my grandad's 50+ year old magnifying glass

Of course, I have no intentions on selling anything. But it's nice to know what you have and, for me, some specific things I do like to own originals of as a collector such as my Manilla Road collection and no with these original pressings of the Fates Warning discs, I have all the originals of their worthwhile discs. Only missing Night on Brocken.. It's just a completist thing I guess. You know that though, being a collector as well.

amen brotherman, exactly.

about that magnifying glass: i had been thinking seriously about getting one, about the time i started contributing to discogs probably, when one day mum turned up and among the things she had was this [grandad had died and mum had a few things put aside after settling his estate and stuff, she had to fly to the isle of man to do it too] anyway, she pulled that out and asked if i'd like it, i just about wept, it was EXACTLY what i wanted and it's old and english to boot.
i'm a big fan of interesting coincidences.

nice one grandad [and mum]

Coincidences are pretty awesome when they occur. Example: apparently my grandma and grandpa were friends with my girlfriend's grandma and grandpa when they both lived in New York. Thirty years later, we find out they knew each other. Apparently they used to hang out together. Small world sometimes. We learned this about 3 years after being together... now it's been 9 and a half years and it still is such a strange fact. I have yet to acquire anything awesome though like a family heirloom magnifying glass.

The cd first pressing of Born too late was from 1987, it was manufactured by laservideo. I had it but sold it since I got offered $50 for it. The 1987 pressing also has that ep on it. I remember the barcode area had a different color on the 1987 press vs the later repressings, but I don't remember which color since I sold it. This is what the 1987 press looks like:

You know what time it is ladies and gentleman....CHRISTMAS AMAZON GIFT CARD MADNESS!!!! (a humble part 1):

Sortilege - Larmes des Heros
Sortilege - s/t EP
Furze - Psych Minus Space Control

I've wanted to hear Sortilege for a long time, but couldn't pull the trigger on fairly expensive copies. Just recently picked up High Power and Blaspheme, so I feel like I'm getting in tune with the best France had to offer. I'm hoping these aren't some weird greek bootlegs. Even if they are, hopefully they'll sound as good as my Sultan's Ransom bootleg and I'll still love 'em.

I hope you guys are spoiled shits just like me. Fuck yes christmas materialism.

Cult of Luna - Somewhere Along the Highway
Neurosis - A Sun That Never Sets
Nagelfar - Hunengrab im Herbst

Had to dole out a little money out of pocket but my two gift cards covered the majority of the costs. 'Bout time I picked up some Swans.

Nothing metal but I got a Blondie live album given to me and my brother bought me AFI - Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes for Christmas but he didn't know that I already own it :P. He says buying CDs for me is a pain in the ass because everything that he knows that I like I already own.

Hell yeah! I found them out just couple of months ago and they totally mesmerized me with "The Seer". At first I was a bit hesitant (probably because I wasn't able handle the mightiness of the concept) but it grew on me after few listens and eventually turned out to be my favorite release of 2012, heh.
