I need to make a post for all my recent purchases in the last few months... perhaps tomorrow or the next day.

Artificial Brain - Demo 2011 (#19/300)

This is cool stuff: Demilich-esque death metal featuring members of Biolich (aka the gods of Demilich worship) and Revocation. Surprisingly, despite the latter band's boringness, this is a really solid demo. Suss it.

An interesting band, for sure. Their newer stuff is even less black metal, but I actually like it a bit more, especially Larvae. The blend of noise and bm is smoother I think. They've got a pretty good live show too, although they used so much fog I got a headache...

Picked up a couple CDs at the show I went to last night:

Dying Fetus - Reign Supreme, This is a solid band, they get a lot of hate from some crowds, but I've noticed that there are two factors that really help along my enjoyment of them. First is that I love the ultra fast, driving and pounding drum patterns. This style of death metal could be said to be percussion driven, especially double bass driven and I do like that type of brutal pounding on occasion. The other factor that seems to help a lot is listening to this music where you can actually feel the music pounding and pulsating, such as seeing them live like I did last night, it really helps their music along. Also, the drummer for Dying Fetus is absolutely astonishing in terms of speed and endurance (really power too), he makes this band so fucking good at what they do. One of the best drummers I've ever seen live.

Visceral Disgorge - Ingesting Putridity, This was the second best band last night that I saw by quite a long shot. Even better than Cerebral Bore (they lived up to their name... zzz) and Malignancy (although the Malignancy vocalist is really damn funny, he gets an A for stand-up comedy).

Overall a cool show and I got to support some of my local bands, so I'm happy about that.

Unfortunately I'm still unable to find the little cable that connects my phone to my computer, and my phone's internet is having some problems, so no pics sadly. Maybe when I get things sorted out with my phone, I'll upload the pics I've taken this past year of purchases long-past that I snapped but was unable to upload anywhere :-P
